Civil Defence Day Celebrations on 10th July 2006

 

Jammu July 11: On the foundation day of Civil Defence, an awareness rally was taken out from Mubark Mandi under the guidance of Sh.Navin Agarwal, IPS IGP Civil Defence J&K Srinagar. The rally was flagged off by Sh.S.P.Vaid, IPS Inspector General of Poice Jammu zone which went through chowk chabutra, Moti Bazar, Raj Tilak Road, Link Road, Peer Mitha, Rajinder Bazar, Purani Mandi and finally culminated at parade ground Jammu. Divisional Commissioner Jammu, SSP Jammu, Divisional Commandant Homeguards Jammu besides chief warden and other wardens and also host of senior police officers.

The main aim of the rally was to make the general masses aware of importance and scope of civil defence during war and peace times. Besides in the time to come Civil defence, which is the defence of the society by the peoples themselves, is going to assume a greater role in all eventualities and disaster management.

Civil Defence day has been also observed in Srinagar on 10th July' 2006 . A Civil Defence conference of CD volunteers/wardens has been convened at Regional Civil Defence Control Centre Kothibagh Srinagar with Shri Omer K.Nedou Chief warden CD Srinagar on chair. The conference discussed the functioning of CD corps and measures to be taken for improving the role of Civil defence. The participants pledged to render their voluntary services whenever called for. On this occasion, Dy.Controller Civil defence Srinagar while expaining the need to strengthen the voluntary service advised the wardens to enroll maximum in CD corps. He has appreciated the role of such volunteers/wardens who have worked in the civil defence camps held at Hazrathal, Tulmula and yatra camp at Baltal.
