Raising Day parade

 

Jammu December 6th: The week long celebration of Raising Day of Homeguards/Civil Defence concluded on 6th December 2006 with the Raising Day parade held at Aux.Police 2nd Bn. Jammu. Sh.M.K.Mohanty IPS Director General of Police Prison J&K was the chief guest on the occasion. On the arrival of the chief guest general salute and march past was presented by the Civil Defence/Homeguards and Auxilary Police contingents

Sh.Navin Agarwal IGP formally welcomed the chief guest and other distinguished dignitaries present on the occasion. He gave a brief account of civil defence and Homeguards activities of the year and also said that in the week long celebration various events like seminar, civil defence rally, chief warden conferences and sports events were organized in which besides the Auxilary Police jawans Homeguards/ Civil Defence volunteers also participated in large number. He projected the various demand of voluntary Homeguards relating to the enhancement in their honorarium and employment.

Sh.M.K.Mohanty DGP Prison J&K in his address lauded the role of Homeguards and Civil defence volunteers during various disasters. He said the activities of Hoemguards and civil defence are full of sentiments of public service and humanitarian feelings. He also expressed his happiness over the drill, discipline, turnout and performance of duty by the Homeguards/Civil Defence jawans. He congratulated all the ranks and file of Homeguards/Civil Defence on its Raising Day. Sh.T.Phunsog, IPS Commandant Aux.Police 2nd Bn. Jammu presented the vote of thanks.

Sh.Mohanty distributed prizes among the winners of various events which were received by the sports manager/sports incharge of the concerned teams viz S.I.Bishan Dass of Aux.Police 2nd Bn Jammu in Kabaddi, Sh.Omer Nedou chief warden Sringar in football, Sh. Akber Malik Dy.Chief warden Srinagar in volley ball, Principal CTI Sh.Mohd Majid Malik in Tug of War, S.I. Ram Kumar of CTI in Ladies team of Tug of war. In individual events Sgct. Ab.Rehman got gold medal in disc throw, Sh.Rajinder Singh of Aux.Police 2nd Bn. got gold medal in short put, Sh.Arun Jamwal of CTI Jammu got gold medal in 200mtrs Race and Sh.Irfan Ahmad Civil Defence volunteer Srinagar got gold medal in 100mtrs. Race.
