Visit of Member of National Disaster Management Authority


Srinagar, August 4th: Sh. J.K. Sinha, IPS, Member, National Disaster Management Authority, New Delhi paid an informal visit to Regional Civil Defence Control Centre Srinagar on August 1,2007. He was accompanied by Sh.Navin Agarwal, IPS Inspector General of Police HG/CD & Aux. Police J&K. The dignitary inspected all sections of RCDCC and had detailed interaction with the staff. On this occasion IGP Homeguards/Civil Defence & Auxiliary Police J&K briefed the visiting dignitary about the functioning and improvement measures adopted by the department for re-activating the Civil Defence services in all the categorized Civil Defence Towns of the state. He has also briefed the dignitary about equipments and ambulance services available with the civil defence town.

The dignitary took a meeting of the officers and wardens in the Conference Hall and had fruitful briefing about the Disaster Management, and its aims and objects. He was also shown a power point presentation regarding various activities of Civil Defence. The dignitary expressed keen interest about the functioning of the civil defence in the state and was very impressed by the activities carried out by Civil Defence. He complimented the IGP HG/CD & Aux. Police J&K for recording such an improvement at grass root level. It has been given out that National Disaster Management Authority in collaboration with State/Divisional administration is going to conduct a Mock exercise on 19th September 2007 in Kral Khud (Habbakadal) area to test the preparedness and mitigation measures with regard to urban Fire – Disaster.
