Civil Defence organized CD awareness cum free
Medical Camp at Srinagar


A view of Civil Defence awareness cum free medicalcamp was organized by Civil Defence town Srinagar in collaboration with NGO Nationalist society of human resource development at Nowpora Gund Hassi Bhat Lawapora on 15th January 2009.

 

Srinagar, January 17th: A Civil Defence awareness cum free medicalcamp was organized by Civil Defence town Srinagar in collaboration with NGO Rahi Nationalist society of human resource development at Nowpora Gund Hassi Bhat Lawapora on 15th January 2009. The camp was inaugurated by Sh.Mehraj-u-din Kakroo, District Development Commissioner cum Controller Civil Defence, Srinagar. He appreciated the work of Civil Defence as well as NGO and had asked the people to keep it up. He also intimated that Srinagar city falling in earthquake prone area and due to un-plan development of housing colonies of Srinagar city, it has increased the vulnerability of various disasters especially earthquake and people should be high alert and be ready to cope with any situation. During the camp, awareness about the various kinds of disasters were given by Sh.Rahi Reyaz, Dy. Divisional Warden Civil Defence who undergone Disaster Management Course at NCDC Nagpur previously. He also told the participants that the Srinagar is falling in seismic zone 5 and there is every apprehension of the earthquake at any time and people should be aware of these types of disasters. He also disclosed that although we cannot avoid such disasters but can save properly as well as human being to some extent by adopting the precautionary methods.

Doctors namely Dr.Pervaza Jan, Dr.Abbar Ahmad Wani, Dr.Mushtaq Ahmad Aga, Dr.Rukshana Jabeen and Medical Asstt.Nazir Ahmad treated a large number of suffering patients and given them first aid type/ seasonally ailment medicines free on spot. About 300 to 400 people attended the camp and were given free consultation and medicines which were provided by the Indian Medical system agencies, Srinagar.

At the end, Sh. Gh. Ahmed Bhat, Dy. SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Srinagar thanked to Sh.Mehar-ud-din Kakroo, IAS, Controller Civil Defence cum Dy.Commissioner Srinagar, NGO and local residents for attending the said camp.
