ADGP HG/CD & SDRF, Smt. D. R. Doley calls for Training youngsters in Civil Defence to meet exigencies

Jammu, March, 13th: The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) HG/CD and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Smt. D. R. Doley called for major initiative to train and acquaint youngsters in civil defence mechanism to meet challenges in exigencies like natural calamities. She said they have been playing an excellent role in the aftermath of natural and manmade calamities.

Inaugurating the four-week Orientation Course for first responders held at SDRF Battalion Headquarters today, the ADGP threw light on the importance of Orientation Course, organized by the Department and stressed upon undergoing this training course to become aware of disaster management and to work with more dedication. She asked them to prove the potential of the State Disaster Response Force only to utilize their services in training general masses and save human lives and public property in the event of any calamity and natural manmade disasters. She also disclosed that after completing various training courses and achieving ability in the profession, they will be put to job so that they are able to handle the situation properly and also educate the public about the mechanism. She said that the organizations are wholeheartedly committed to the noble task of selfless service to the community.

Smt. Doley stressed upon involving more people in the activities of Civil Defence by strengthening the training infrastructure and enhancing the capacity to deal with disasters. She said that organisation has brought awareness among the masses during the past several years but there is still too much more to be done in this regard. They are upholding the highest tradition of voluntary service, she added.

On the occasion, several speakers deliberated upon the importance of natural calamities and manmade disasters and to educate the force personnel and civilians to deal with such situations.

The speakers included DIG, Sham Lal Sharma, SSPs, Ghulam Sarwar Chouhan and Mehraj-ud-Din, Commandants, R. S. Manhas, Alok Nanda and several Jammu based Wardens of Civil Defence Organization.
