Civil Defence Day Celebration

Sh.S.P.Vaid, IPS IGP Jammu Zone during the Civil defence rally on 10th July 2006

On the foundation day of Civil Defence, an awareness rally was taken out from Mubarak Mandi under the guidance of Sh.Navin Agarwal, IPS Inspector General Police Civil Defence J&K Srinagar. The rally was flagged off by Sh.S.P.Vaid, IPS Inspector General of Police Jammu zone which passed through Chowk Chabutra, Moti Bazar, Raj Tilak Road, Link Road, Peer Mitha, Rajinder Bazar, Purani Mandi and finally culminated at parade ground Jammu. Sh. Hirdesh Kumar IAS Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sh.Mukesh Singh SSP Jammu, Sh.S.M.Khatotra SSP Divisional Commandant Homeguards Jammu besides senior wardens and host of senior police officers also participated in the rally.The aim of the rally was to make the general masses aware of importance and scope of civil defence during war and peace times. Civil Defence day was also observed in Srinagar on 10th July 2006. A Civil Defence conference of CD volunteers/ wardens convened at Regional Civil Defence Control Center Kothibagh Srinagar with Shri Omer K.Nedou Chief warden CD Srinagar on chair. The conference reminded the functioning of CD corps and measures to be taken for improving the role of Civil Defence. The participants pledged to render their voluntary services whenever called for. Sh.A.H.Baig Dy.Controller Civil Defence Srinagar while explaining the need to strengthen the voluntary service advised the wardens to enroll maximum number of volunteers. He appreciated the role of volunteers/wardens who worked in the civil defence camps held at Hazrathal, Tulmula and yatra camp at Baltal.


 

 

 

Mountain Search & Rescue Course at Pahalgam

Civil Defence wardens of Srinagar and Anantnag towns attended three days training course in Mountain Search and Rescue at Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering, Pahalgam w.e.f. 07- 07- 2006 to 09-07-2006 under the instructions of Sh.Navin Agarwal, IPS, Inspector General of Police Civil Defence J&K Srinagar. The eight wardens of srinagar town and five wardens of Anantnag town were trained in the following events: ¬Rock climbing, Rippling,Alpine tent pitching,River crossing,Mountain rope knots and hitches,Avalanche rescue, Base making, Tyrolean traverse & casualty evacuation and Mountain maladies.

Lt. Col. A. S. Shekhawat, Principal JIM&WS inaugurated the course while Sh. H.K. Lohia, IPS, DIG SKR Anantnag was the chief guest at the valedictory function. He appreciated the initiative taken by IGP Civil Defence in getting his wardens / volunteers trained for search and rescue in mountainous terrain.


 

 

An awareness Rally by Civil Defence town Akhnoor

A Civil Defence awareness rally was taken out in Akhnoor town on 18th July 2006 from Main Bazar Akhnoor in the presence of Sh.T.Phunsog Commandant Aux. Police 2nd Bn. Jammu & Dy.SP Mohd Taj Dy.Controller Civil Defence Akhnoor and Smt. Kuldeep Kour Post Warden Akhnoor, which went through Bus Stand & Main chowks of Akhnoor city and finally culminated at Kameswar Market Akhnoor. On this occasion Smt. Kour stressed upon the people to join the Civil Defence and save the nation. Prominent among those where Sh.Rakesh Kumar, Yashpaul, Ravinder Magotra, Kishore Kumar, Jagannath, Vijay Kumar, Choudhery Smrat and various wardens & volunteers of CD town Akhnoor.

New batch of Homeguards volunteers who underwent 30 days Advance Course at Central Training Institute of Homeguards and Civil Defence Jammu, passed out successfully on 25th July 2006. Commandant Aux.Police 2nd Bn. Jammu Sh.T.Phunsog, IPS was the chief guest on the occasion. He took salute and later on also distributed certificates and cash rewards among the three Homeguards volunteers for their outstanding performance in various disciplines of training:

G/M Suraj Parkash No.159/U (Ist Position), G/M Ab.Karim No.349/R (2nd Position) & G/M BaldevSingh No.170/U(3rd Position). Sh.Phunsog in his address stressed upon the importance of quality training and expressed happiness that during training, volunteer Homeguards exhibited great dedication, devotion and hardwork.


 

 

IGP reviewed Independence Day Celebration arrangements

Sh.Navin Agarwal chaired a meeting of officers of Homeguards and Civil Defence of Budgam and Srinagar on 26th July 2006 in order to review the independence day celebrations arrangements. IGP directed them that contingents of HG/CD will participate at State level and provincial level and also at district level if possible.


 

 

Plantation Drive Launched by Civil Defence Organisation

Civil Defence Organisation launched a vigorous plantation drive in civil defence town Jammu under the guidance of Sh.Navin Agarwal IPS, Inspector General of Police HG/CD & Aux.Police J&K on July 30, 2006. Deputy Controller Civil Defence Jammu Ms.Manjit Kour Dy.SP supervised the drive. The initial function was inaugurated at EWS Colony, Lower Roop Nagar Jammu by Sh. Mukesh Singh SSP Jammu who was the chief guest on the occasion. He appreciated the plantation drive launched by the civil defence which will serve the cause of saving environment from further degradation.

The main aim of the drive is to make Jammu a pollution free city and to create awareness among the general masses regarding importance of plants for the preservation of environment. Senior Civil Defence wardens, Volunteers and civilians participated in this plantation drive.


 

 

Sr. Supdt. Of Police Rajouri Hails Civil Defence Role

SSP Rajouri Farooq Khan Chaired a meeting of civil defence Rajouri On 30th July,2006 and asked the civil defence volunteers to cooperate with police for the smooth conduct of Independence day. Sh.K.K.Langer Chief warden Civil Defence Rajouri briefed the participants about the working of civil defence. He Stated that in District Rajouri there are three Civil Defence towns viz Nowshera, Sunderbani and Rajouri town where 963, 217 & 78 volunteers respectively are fully trained face any situations.

Sh. Khan appreciated the civil defence volunteers to cooperate with police. SSP Rajouri said that the organization like Civil defence has worked in maintaining the national integration of the country.


 

 

Valedictory function of Civil Defence Volunteers at Jammu

Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Hirdesh Kumar Singh who is also the Controller Civil Defence distributed certificates/cash awards among 32 Wardens and Volunteers of Civil Defence at a function held on 31st July 2006. Those wardens & volunteers were honoured who underwent ten days training course in rescue operation. The function was organized by Divisional Warden Jia Lal Sharma with the cooperation of post wardens of Division-I. During the function, speakers highlighted various multi-pronged strategies to yield tangible results in the functioning of civil defence Jammu.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC appreciated the role of Civil Defence Jammu in serving the cause of humanity and assured complete cooperation to these functionaries to supplement their endeavors. Among others the function was attended by Deputy Controller Civil Defence Jammu Smt.Manjit Kour, Chief warden Jugal Mahajan, Deputy Chief wardens Vinod Malhotra, Paramjit Kumar, Divisional wardens Bansi Lal Gupta, Dinesh Gupta and other volunteers of Civil Defence Jammu.


 

 

Civil Defence awareness camp at Budgam

A day long awareness camp on civil defence was organized by the Civil Defence Organisation, Budgam at Government High School Boys, Rawalpora Budgam here today. Nearly 200 students and a sizeable number of locals besides, functionaries of Civil Defence organisation Budgam participated in the camp. The main objective of the camp was to aware the participants about the various aspects of self defence and relief operations during disaster and use of latest methods & techniques. Mock drill and quiz competitions on the subject were also conducted on the occasion.


 

 

IGP inaugurated Divisional warden office

In order to further streamline the activities of Civil defence in Srinagar Sh.Navin Agarwal IGP Civil Defence J&K inaugurated office of the Divisional Warden at Alamgiri Bazar Zadibal Srinagar on 31st July 2006. Among others present on the occasion were Sh.Bashir Ahmad Parry S.P Hazratbal, Sh.M.A.Dianposh Commandant 1st Bn. Srinagar, Sh. Shuja Ahmad SDPO Zadibal, Sh.A.H.Beigh Dy.Controller, Sh.Mozam Bakshi Dy. Divisional warden and other senior wardens & volunteers of Civil defence Srinagar.
