REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION

Personnel of Homeguards/Civil Defence and Auxiliary police all over the state participated enthusiastically in the Republic day celebrations on 26th January 2007. The main parade was held at M.A.Stadium Jammu in which contingent of Aux. Police was led by Sh.T.R.Rana Dy.SP, Homeguards contingent was led by Mohd. Majid Malik Dy.SP and ladies armed police contingent was led by Smt. Manjit Kour Dy.SP. In Srinagar the main parade was held at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar in which the contingent of Homeguards/Civil Defence & Auxiliary Police was led by S.I. Mohd. Yousaf Sheikh. Similar parades were also held at other district headquarters as well. The drill and March Past of Homeguards/ Auxiliary Police was appreciated by all.

DISASTER AWARENESS & MITIGATION PROGRAMME AT IMPA

Three days orientation programme on “Disaster Awareness and Mitigation” was held at Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development (IMPA) Jammu from 8th to 10th January 2007 which was attended by Mrs. Manjit Kour Dy. SP, Sh. Ram Kumar SI, Sh. Naresh Chander SI, Sh. Bishan Das SI, Sh. Mangat Ram SI, Sh. Chaman Lal ASI(M). On this occasion a demonstration was also given by the instructors of Central Training Institute of Homeguards/ Civil Defence Jammu.

 

 

 



AWARENESS CAMP BY CIVIL DEFENCE RAJOURI

One day civil defence awareness camp was organized at higher secondary school Darhal Malkan on 11th January 2007. The program was inaugurated by chief guest Col. M. K. Joshi, Commandant officer, 48th Rashtriya Rifles. Col. speaking on the occasion expressed satisfaction over the civil defence measures undertaken in Rajouri. Sh. K. K. Langer chief warden civil defence Rajouri threw light on the activities of civil defence.

A team of civil defence instructors of Central Training Institute Jammu was deputed to the town to create awareness among public. They delivered lectures and also gave demonstration to acquaint them with civil defence skills required to mitigate disasters. The camp was attended by about 400 students from various Govt. & Pvt. Institutions, staff, civil defence wardens & volunteers besides prominent citizens.



 

THREE DAYS TRAINING PROGRAMME

Three days training/workshop programme on “creation of landslide databases for planning, policy making and risk management” was held at Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development (IMPA) Jammu in collaboration with National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) New Delhi w.e.f. 22nd to 24th January 2007. The participants from Homeguards/ Civil Defence were Sh. S. M. Khatotra, Divisional Commandant Homeguards Jammu, Sh. Gh. Sarwar Chouhan S.O to IGP HG/CD J&K, Sh. Mohd Majid Malik, Principal CTI Jammu, Sh. Taj Mohd, Area Commander, Homeguards Jammu, Sh. K. K. Sharma Dy. SP Aux. Police 2nd Bn. Jammu besides officers from other department and research scholar of Jammu University.



 

CIVIL DEFENCE RESCUES ACCIDENT VICTIMS AT DODA

A SRTC Bus bearing No.0253/JK01Y on way from Kishtwar to Doda met with an accident near Prem Nagar on 4th January 2007 in which 12 persons died and about 45 injured. Civil Defence team comprising of Sh. Javid Iqbal Azad Chief warden, Sh.Zaffer Ullah Rather Dy. Chief warden, Sh. Basant Singh Divisional warden, Sh.Sadullah Rangraz Rather Post warden, Sh. Syed Riaz Ahmed sector warden and Smt. Sarita Bhan sector warden reached on spot and launched rescue operation. Injured persons were shifted to hospital and also arranged blood.

Seriously injured persons were air lifted from Doda to Jammu where civil defence Jammu shifted injured persons to GMC Hospital Jammu in Civil Defence Ambulances from airport.



 

CIVIL DEFENCE WARDEN AWARDED CIVIL DEFENCE MEDAL

 

Sh.Jia Lal Sharma Divisional warden civil defence Jammu has been awarded civil defence medal for meritorious services on the occasion of Republic Day 2007 in recognition of his good work. Sh. Sharma has been associated with civil defence for the last more than two decades in the capacity of warden/volunteer and has been instrumental in spreading civil defence scheme in the region.

 



 

CIVIL DEFENCE SRINAGAR ORGANISES FREE MEDICAL CAMP

Civil Defence Srinagar in collaboration with Helpage India organized a free medical camp at Gund Hasibhat (Lawaypore) on 29th January 2007. The camp was inaugurated by Sh. Ghulam Mustafa, Mayor Municipal Corporation Srinagar. On this occasion Sh. A. H. Beigh, Dy. Controller Civil Defence Srinagar was the guest of honour who distributed relief items amongst the needy persons.

Mr. P. Rajan, Project Manager Helpage India appreciated the activities of civil defence organisation and solicited co-operation for organizing such camps in future as well. Sh. Rahi Riyaz, Dy. Divisional warden civil defence Srinagar alongwith other wardens played an important role in organizing the camp.



 

NEWS IN BRIEF

  • HC. Ali Mohd No.1232 and HC Mehboob Shah No.106 have been promoted to the rank of ASI vide Directorate Order No.22 of 2007 dated 16th January 2007.
  •  A mini bus No. JK11-1893 on its way from Rajouri to Ghambir Brahamina met with an accident at village Tandwal on 10th January 2007 in which atleast 15 persons were injured. Sh.K.K.Langer chief warden alongwith other wardens rushed to the spot and launched rescue operation. Wardens helped in shifting them to district hospital Rajouri for treatment.
  • Civil Defence wardens assisted the police during the checking of vehicles & frisking of public at different ‘Nakas’ in various towns of the state viz Nowshera, Rajouri, Kathua etc. w.e.f 23rd to 26th January 2007. The Civil defence wardens/ volunteers performed their duties with full dedication. Worthy IGP Homeguards/Civil Defence & Aux. Police J&K Sh. Navin Agarwal had already given directions in this regard to remain extra vigilant in their posts/sector and assist the administration whenever requisitioned for the same. Some wardens/volunteers were also kept reserve at control room to meet any mishappening.

    On the eve of Rupublic Day Celebration a civil defence stall and layout of first aid, fire fighting and rescue equipment was installed at Doda on 26th January 2007. On the occasion Sh.Nowang Rigzin Jora Hon’ble Minister for Power J&K was the chief guest. The chief guest inspected stall and appreciated the role of civil defence. Sh. Javid Iqbal Azad Chief warden civil defence Doda briefed chief guest about the activities of civil defence wardens/ volunteers of the town.
