CIVIL DEFENCE AWARENESS CAMP ORGANISED AT KATHUA

One day Civil Defence awareness camp was organised at Civil Defence town, Kathua, on 21st May, 2008, in which Sh.S.K.Kapoor, Additional Commissioner, Revenue, Kathua, was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest appreciated the role of Civil Defence organisation. Sh.Dhian Chand, Chief Warden, and Sh.Surjeet Singh, Dy.Chief Warden, Civil Defence, Kathua, delivered lectures on the topic “Training & Activities of Civil Defence in the town”. A Civil Defence demonstration on rescue techniques was also given by Civil Defence instructors deputed from Central Training Institute of Homeguards and Civil Defence, Jammu. Among others, present on the occasion were Sh.Manohar Lal, Principal, Govt.Boy’s Higher Secondary School, Kathua, Sh.Satpal Khajuria, Post Warden, Sh.Sandeep Singh, Post Warden, Sh.Susheel Gupta, advocate, students & staff of Govt. Boy’s Higher Secondary School, Kathua, Sector Wardens & Volunteers of Civil Defence town, Kathua.


 

ONE DAY CIVIL DEFENCE AWARENESS CAMP ORGANISED AT BUDGAM

One day Civil Defence mass awareness programme was organized in the Civil Defence town of Budgam, at Government Degree College, Budgam, on 17th May, 2008 The function was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Sh.Farooq Ahmed Renzu, KAS, Dy.Commissioner-cum-Controller Civil Defence, Budgam. The chief guest delivered lecture on the activities of Civil Defence and announced that land would be provided to Civil Defence organization, Budgam, for imparting necessary basic Civil Defence training to the civilians. During the programme, Civil Defence demonstrations were exhibited before the masses. Later on, Civil Defence training certificates and training allowances were distributed among the Civil Defence Wardens and volunteers, who had successfully undergone five days Basic Civil Defence training course. The Sr. Superintendent of Police, Budgam and other district Heads were also present on the occasion.


 

COMMUNICATION COURSE CONDUCTED FOR CIVIL DEFENCE WARDENS/ VOLUNTEERS

Three days communication course for Civil Defence Wardens was organised at Central Training Institute, Homeguards and Civil Defence, Jammu, w.e.f. 10-05-08 to 12-05-08 in which Civil Defence Wardens and Volunteers were imparted training in wireless communication system by the instructors of CTI. Two expert wireless instructors were also requisitioned from Wireless Communication Centre, Jammu, for delivering lectures to the trainees.


 

CIVIL DEFENCE AWARENESS CAMP ORGANISED AT CD TOWN, AKHNOOR

A Civil Defence awareness camp was organised by Civil Defence organisation on May 7, 2008 in the premises of Govt. Higher Secondary School, Sohal, Akhnoor. The camp was organised in collaboration with Smt.Kuldeep Kour, Dy.Divisional Warden, Civil Defence, Akhnoor. During the camp various methods of Rescue, fire-fighting and first aid were demonstrated by the trained Civil Defence instructors of CTI HG/CD, Jammu, for the knowledge of students, staff and other participants. The Camp was attended by a large number of prominent people including Civil Defence wardens, volunteers and Sh.Mohd Majid Malik, Dy.SP.


 


AWARENESS CAMP ORGANISED IN CIVIL DEFENCE TOWN, SAMBA

An awareness camp was organised in Civil Defence town, Samba, on May 7, 2008 at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyala, Hr.Secondary School, Nud, Samba. Expert Civil Defence instructors deputed from Central Training Institute of Homeguards & Civil Defence, Jammu, gave live demonstrations on various rescue techniques, first-aid, fire-fighting. Sh.J.B.Singh, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller, Civil Defence, Samba dwelled on the aims and objectives of the Civil Defence and highlighted the importance of such awareness camps. About 500 students, school staff and a large number of local residents including Civil Defence Wardens & Volunteers, also participated.


 

PROMOTIONS IN AUXILIARY POLICE

Seven Assistant Sub-Inspectors of J&K Auxiliary Police were promoted to the rank of Sub-Inspectors in the pay scale of Rs.5600-175-9100, vide Directorate of Homeguards, Civil Defence & Auxiliary Police J&K Srinagar office order No.268 of 2008 dated 14-5-2008. 11 Sgcts. were promoted to the rank of Head constables in the pay scale of Rs.4300-100-5900, vide Directorate’s office order No.318 of 2008 dated 12.06.2008. Three ASIs(M) were promoted to the rank of SIs(M) in the pay scale of Rs.5600-175-9100 vide Directorate’s office order No.347 of 2008 dated 26-06-08 and four HCs(M) were also promoted to the rank of ASIs(M) in the pay scale of Rs.4500-125-7000 vide Directorate’s office order No.348 of 2008 dated 27-06-08.


 

CIVIL DEFENCE RAJOURI ORGANISE AWARENESS CAMP

One day Civil Defence awareness camp on Disaster Management was organised by Civil Defence Town, Rajouri, on May 14, 2008 at International Higher Secondary School, Rajouri. The instructors deputed from Central Training Institute of Homeguards and Civil Defence, Jammu, delivered lectures with practical demonstrations on fire-fighting rescue, First Aid, Earthquake, Flood Control etc. which was greatly appreciated by the participants. 250 students, School staff members, Civil Defence wardens and volunteers were present on the occasion. The participants were acquainted with the knowledge of Civil Defence skills and rescue techniques during disasters.


 

FAREWELL PARTY ORGANISED FOR THE RETIREES OF HG/CD & AUX. POLICE ORGANISATION

Sh.Pervaz Ahmed Mirza, SSP, Comdt. Aux. Police 1st Bn. Srinagar distributed retirement gift among the retirees

Auxiliary Police 1st Bn. Srinagar organised a farewell party for the retirees of the organisation on 31st, May 2008 in the premises of Bn. Hqrs. During the function, retirees Insp.Mohd Aslam Ganie, Sub.Inspr.Ghulam Din, Sub.Inspr.Ali Mohammad, ASI Abdul Ahad, HC Mohd Maqbool, Sgct. Habib Ullah, Sgct.Gh.Mohd. Ganie, Sgct.Gh.Rasool Sofi, Sgct. Sardar Mohd Khan, Sgct.Abdul Jabar Lone, HC Abdul Gaffar Hajam, HC Mohd Hussain and Sgct.Gh.Mohd Lone were honoured. Sh.Pervaz Ahmed Mirza, SSP, Commandant, Aux. Police 1st Bn. Srinagar presented retirement gifts as a token of love & affection to them.

 


 

HOMEGUARDS AND CIVIL DEFENCE MEETING AT PROVINCIAL LEVEL

A meeting of Area Commanders, Homeguards and Dy. Controllers / Incharge Civil Defence towns of Jammu province was held on 02-06-2008 in the office Chamber of Dr.Kamal Saini, IPS, DIG Homeguards, Civil Defence & Aux. Police, Jammu, to review the functioning of the organization. During the meeting, various measures relating to Civil Defence were discussed which included maintenance of communication system, allotment of land and gearing up Civil Defence activities in the Civil Defence towns.


 

INTERACTION OF IGP HOMEGUARDS, CIVIL DEFENCE & AUX. POLICE J&K

Sh.Lalatendu Mohanti, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Homeguards, Civil Defence & Aux. Police, J&K, had an indepth interaction with the officers of Homeguards, Civil Defence and Auxiliary Police on June 2, 2008 in the office Chamber of DIG, HG,CD & Aux. Police, Jammu to review the functioning of these units. Sh.Mohanti, IGP, discussed issues pertaining to Homeguards/Civil Defence and Auxiliary Police organization, threadbare with the officers and called for gearing up of activities of these organisations.


 

NEWS IN BRIEF

  • Five days first aid training course was organised at Central Training Institute, Homeguards / Civil Defence, Jammu, w.e.f. 04-05-08 to 08-05-08 in which Civil Defence Wardens/Volunteers were imparted training.
  • An incident of fire took place at Nowshera in ward No.4 on 10-6-2008 at 3:30 pm. A Civil Defence Volunteer, Sh.Sham Sunder S/O Sh.Raghunath Dass, at once informed the Civil Defence control room, Nowshera, on telephone. As soon as the information of fire incident was received, Sh.R.P.Damral, Dy.Divisonal Warden, alongwith Civil Defence volunteers, rushed to the spot and started rescue operations. With the aid of Civil Defence skills and equipments they started extinguishing the fire and saved precious human life and property from damage.
  • Civil Defence Town, Sunderbani, organised one day Civil Defence awareness camp on May 13, 2008 at Boys High School Siot, Sunderbani. Headmaster of the school was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The instructors from CTI, HG/CD, Jammu exhibited practical demonstration on fire-fighting, first-aid and other techniques to tackle disasters to the participants.
  • On 01-05-08, at the behest of PCR Jammu, Civil Defence rescuers were rushed towards Nandni (NHW ), for rescue operation where a road accident had occurred.
  • On 03-5-08, a serious patient was shifted from Jammu to Bhaderwah in CD Ambulance.
  • On 08-05-08, a serious patient was shifted from Jammu to Ludhiana, (Punjab) for specialized medical treatment by CD volunteers.
  • On 10-05-08, seriously injured road accident victims of district Doda were shifted from Jammu Air Port to GMC Jammu for emergency treatment by CD volunteers.
  • One day Civil Defence awareness camp was held at Govt.Higher Secondary School, Mubark Mandi, Jammu, on 10-05-2008 in which 200 school students and staff participated. Besides, a Civil Defence demonstration was also conducted.
  • Sr. officers and Civil Defence Wardens during one day awareness camp at Nowshera
    One day Civil Defence awareness camp was organised at Govt.Boys Hr.Secondary School, Nowshera, by Civil Defence town, Nowshera, on 12-05-2008. Sh.S.K.Khajuria, Additional Supdt.of Police, Nowshera, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The Chief Guest appreciated the role of the Civil Defence and its co-operation extended to the police and Administration from time to time, whenever needed. Sh.R.P.Damral, Dy.Divisional Warden, also spoke on the occasion. He also gave information about the Civil Defence organisation and the strength of CD volunteers who had been providing Civil Defence training in various fields. Prominent citizens of the town including the President, Beopar Mandal, President, Sanathan Dharam Sabha, Naib Tehsildar were also present on the occasion. About 250 students and staff participated in the Camp.
  • One day Civil Defence awareness camp was held at Shiksha Niketan School, Jeewan Nagar, Jammu, on 17-05-08 in which participants were familiarized with the skills and activities of Civil Defence. Besides, a Civil Defence demonstration was also conducted. About 400 students and staff of the school participated.
  • A similar awareness camp was organised at Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, Jammu on 20-05-08 in which 330 students were imparted Civil Defence training.
  • A Civil Defence awareness camp was also organised at W.No.07, Talab Garran, Udhampur on 04-05-2008.
  • A meeting of Civil Defence wardens was held at Rajouri on 16-6-2008 under the supervision of Dy.SP, DAR, Rajouri. During the meeting various matters relating to Civil Defence awareness Camp and deployment of Civil Defence wardens/volunteers during floods, accidents etc. were discussed.
  • On 19-06-2008, a rescue team of Civil Defence, Rajouri, alongwith rescue equipments, under the supervision of Addl. Supdt. of Police, Rajouri, rushed to Neli Manja Kote for rescuing two youths who had drowned in a Nala.
  • 19 VHGs of district Leh have been deputed to CTI HG/CD & Aux. Police Srinagar for undergoing six weeks BRTC.
