INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE HG/CD & AUX. POLICE J&K VISITED CD TOWN SAMBA TO REVIEW CIVIL DEFENCE ACTIVITIES

A Civil Defence awareness-cum-live demonstration camp was organized at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Samba on 4th September 2009. More than 800 students besides a large number of people witnessed the function. Sh.Parveen Singh, Dy.SP Dy.Controller Civil Defence Samba highlighted the achievements and role of Civil Defence in CD Town Samba. The instructors of Central Training Institute HG/CD Jammu gave live demonstration on various rescue techniques.

Sh.S.Gopal Reddy, IPS IGP HG/CD & Aux. Police J&K was the chief guest on the occasion. He made stress upon the students and public to become Civil Defence volunteers. He asked the people to come forward in an emergent situation arising during any natural or man-made disaster to provide help to the victims. He asked the people to work hand-in-glove for maintaining in law & order situation for upholding peace and order in society particularly at the time of calamities. He also asked the people to attend Civil Defence camps in large number as and when organized. Among prominent citizen, Sh.P.R.Manhas, IPS DIG HG/CD & Aux. Police Jammu, Sh.Sourab Bhagat, IAS Dy.Commissioner-cum-Controller Civil Defence Samba, Sh.Raghubir Singh, SSP Samba, Sh.Deepak Slathia, Comdt.Aux. Police 2nd Bn. Jammu and other district officers were also present on the occasion.


 

 

ROLE OF CIVIL DEFENCE VOLUNTEERS HAILED

On the occasion of ‘Vijay Dashmi’ (Dusshera) at Parade Ground Jammu, the volunteers of Civil Defence of Gujjar Nagar Jammu, Warden Post under the leadership of Post Warden Sh.N.A.Qurashi offered their services. The volunteers of Gujjar Nagar not only highlighted the role of Jammu and Kashmir Homeguards/Civil Defence Organisation, but also exemplified their role of secularism. This was the first time that CD volunteers of Muslim community of Civil Defence Post Gujjar Nagar offered their services during Vijay Dashmi with the result ‘Vijay Dashmi’ passed off peacefully without any untoward incident. The Post Warden and CD volunteers of Gujjar Nagar discharged their memorable services on the direction of Sh.Gopal Reddy, IPS IGP HG/CD & Aux. Police J&K.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE EXPERTS IMPARTED TRAINING-CUM-AWARENESS TO THE NCC CADETS AT NAGROTA ON 1st & 2nd SEPT, 2009

Two days CD training-cum-awareness camp was organised by CD experts at NCC Camp Nagrota, Jammu in which hundreds of NCC cadets/staff members were imparted CD training as well as awareness on Disaster Managament & First Aid. Among other officers, Camp Commandant NCC Nagrota witnessed the CD training-cum-awareness activities.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE ORGANISED PLANTATION DRIVE AT UDHAMPUR ON 3RD & 7TH SEPT. 2009

Civil Defence organised plantation drive in collaboration with District Police Udhampur at Devika and Court complex Udhampur. On the occasion, Sh.S.Gopal Reddy, IPS IGP HG/CD & Aux. Police J&K was the chief guest. While speaking on the occasion, he expressed his happiness and satisfaction for holding such awareness camps. He emphasized upon the need and importance of awareness in context of disaster management. Among others, Sh.Gulzar Singh Slathia, IPS DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range and Sh.Surinder Gupta, IPS SSP Udhampur were also present on the occasion.


 

 

VALEDICTORY FUNCTION OF CD BASIC TRAINING HELD AT RCDCC SRINAGAR ON 4TH SEPT, 2009

Civil Defence volunteer basic training course was concluded at RCDCC Srinagar in which 70 students were imparted training and practice demonstration on first aid, fire-fighting and rescue measures. Dy.Controller Civil Defence Srinagar also highlighted the aim and objectives of Civil Defence on the occasion.


 

 

CD TOWN NOWSHERA ORGANISED ONE DAY AWARENESS CAMP ON 19TH SEPT. 2009

Civil Defence awareness camp was organised at Govt.Girls Middle School Nowshera in which about 150 students participated. S.Tarlok Singh, Zonal Education officer Nowshera presided over the function. Sh.Rajinder Parshad Damral, Dy.Divisional Warden highlighted the role and activities of Civil Defence. On the occasion, Civil Defence equipments were also exhibited before participants and their utility was also explained.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE AWARENESS CAMP ORGANISED AT HIGH SCHOOL KALIDEH, SUNDERBANI ON 26TH SEPT. 2009

Civil Defence Town Sunderbani organised Civil Defence awareness camp in which about 150, students were present. Smt.Bimla Pathania Dy.Divisional Warden was the chief guest of the function. While addressing on this occasion, she highlighted the activities of Civil Defence and appealed people to come forward to join Civil Defence as volunteers to provide help to the needy people during any disaster.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE TEAM FISHED OUT THE DROWNED PERSON FROM CANAL ON 06-10-2009

A Maruti van bearing No.JK02M-6884 alongwith driver drowned in Ranbir Canal at Shakti Nagar Jammu. Civil Defence team under the supervision of Sh.Khalil-Ur-Rehman, Dy.Controller CD Jammu reached the spot and launched rescue operation. The drowned person was fished out safely who was identified as Sh.Jai Prakash of Patoli, Jammu.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE DEMONSTRATIONS CUM AWARENESS IMPARTED AMONG THE NCC CADETS AT NAGROTA ON 9TH & 10TH OCT, 2009

Two days Civil Defence demonstration and Disaster Management Training-cum-awareness camp was held at Nagrota by the experts of Civil Defence. About 500 NCC cadets/staff members attended the camp. The programme was also witnessed by Sh.J.R.Koushak Sr.Specialist (Civil Defence) NDMA. He appreciated the role of Civil Defence for imparting such kind of awareness/trainings to Civil Society as well as students and NCC cadets.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE SAMBA IMPARTED TRAINING-CUM-AWARENESS AMONG NCC CADETS AT MANSAR ON 26TH OCT. 2009

More than 300 NCC cadets were imparted training-cum-awareness especially on Disaster Management. Demonstration on fire-fighting and rescue measures were also conducted by the Civil Defence experts under the supervision of Sh.Parveen Singh, Dy.SP Dy.Controller Civil Defence Samba.


 

 

NEWS IN BRIEF:

  • A Bus bearing No.JK02D-6339 met with an accident at Assar plying from Doda to Jammu on 07-09-2009. Civil Defence team reached the spot and started rescue operation with local police in shifting dead/injured persons to District Hospital Doda.
  • Civil Defence Jammu imparted CD awareness-cum-training among 35 bank employees during a camp organised at Town hall Jammu on 15-09-2009
  • One day CD awareness camp was organised in auditorium Hall of Govt. Degree College Kathua. In the camp, about 200 NCC cadets/NSS students were acquainted with regard to preventive measures to be taken during disaster.
  • Civil Defence Kathua organised one day awareness camp at Divisional Warden Office Kathua on 25-09-2009 in which civilian/ students were acquainted with the measures to be taken during unexpected eventualities.
  • On 06-10-2009, fire broke out at Hotel Shahanshah Boulevard Road, Srinagar. Civil Defence team rushed on the spot, resulted no loss of human life because of their timely action.
  • Civil Defence volunteer’s training certificates were distributed among the students of Bharat Scouts & Guides by the Hon’ble MLA Hazartbal during a function held at Green Valley Institute Ellahi Bagh Buchpora, Srinagar on 08-10-2009.
  • A matador met with an accident at Thandapani coming from Siot to Sunderbani on 08-10-2009. Civil Defence team headed by Sh.Surinder Sudan, Sector Warden reached the spot and co-operated local police in shifting injured persons to hospital.
  • A matador met with an accident and rolled down into a gorge near Samba on 10-10-2009. Civil Defence wardens/volunteers reached the spot and rescued/shifted injured persons to District Hospital Samba.
  • On the occasion of Holy Eid Prayers and Navratra festivals, Civil Defence organised Civil Defence assistance camp at Jammu to meet any eventuality.
  • A view of one day Civil Defence awareness camp held at Jammu University
    Two day’s medical-cum-CD awareness Camp in collaboration with a team of doctors from Govt. Medical College Jammu and District Hospital Samba was organised at Najwal (Vijaypur) on 3rd & 4th Oct.2009. During the camp, two patients namely Smt.Krishna Devi W/O Sh.Chaman Lal & Smt.Kailasho Devi W/O Sh.Hari Ram R/O Hosharpur (Punjab) were shifted to Govt. Hospital Vijaypur for further treatment.
    • Civil Defence Jammu organised one day CD training-cum-awareness camp at Jammu University on 27-10-2009. During the camp, security guards/chowkidars of Jammu University were imparted training-cum-awareness especially in fire fighting and first aid.
  • Civil Defence Doda organised one day awareness camp at Govt. ITI College Doda on 29-10-2009 in which about 200 students/staff members participated. During the camp, Civil Defence awareness regarding rescue, fire-fighting and first aid were also taught to the participants.
