CIVIL DEFENCE ORGANISED TRAFFIC AWARENESS CAMP

Traffic awareness camp was organized by Civil Defence Jammu at Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, Digiana (Jammu) on 9th January 2010. Sh.S.Gopal Reddy, IPS, IGP, HG/CD & Aux. Police J&K was the chief guest on the occasion. More than 2500 students and teaching staff witnessed the function and were acquainted with the traffic rules. Sh.Khalil-ur-Rehman, Dy.SP, Dy. Controller Civil Defence Jammu highlighted the achievements and role of Civil Defence during disasters. The instructors of Central Training Institute HG/CD Jammu gave live demonstration on various Fire Fighting and rescue techniques.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest stressed upon the students and people to join Civil Defence as Civil Defence volunteers. He asked the people to come forward in emergent situations during any natural or man-made disasters and provide help to the victims. He also asked the people to work shoulder to shoulder during law & order situation for upholding peace in society particularly at the time of calamities. He also said that organizing awareness programmes for the students/teaching staff is essential in modern scenario.

Sh.P.R.Manhas, IPS, DIG HG/CD & Aux. Police Jammu also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the role and importance of Civil Defence as First responders. Among prominent citizens, other officers, Civil Defence wardens/volunteers were also present on the occasion.


 

 

SDRF PERSONNEL CONDUCTED RESCUE OPERATION AT PUNJAB HOTEL SRINAGAR

A contingent of 40 Police personnel of SDRF Coy under the command of Dy.SP Mohammad Ashraf Wani, was deputed for conducting rescue operation after the encounter between militants & security forces at Punjab Hotel Lal Chowk Srinagar on 07-01-2010. The team was equipped with all types of rescue equipments. Hotel Punjab is in the busy Lal Chowk area in the heart of the city caught fire at morning as the security forces inched closer to the militants who were held up in the top floor and were hurling grenades and firing at troops.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE JAMMU IMPARTED TRAINING TO STUDENTS

Five days Civil Defence Basic Training camp was organised at Women’s College Parade Jammu w.e.f. 27-01-2010 to 31-01-2010 by Civil Defence Jammu under the supervision of Sh.Khalil-ur-Rehman, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Jammu.

During the camp, 141 women students undergone the said course and were imparted Civil Defence training in fire-fighting, first aid, rescue operation. A live demonstration on rescue operation was also exhibited among the students by Civil Defence experts from Central Training Institute HG/CD Jammu.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE IMPARTED BASIC TRAINING TO STUDENTS OF ITI COLLEGE JAMMU

Five day’s Civil Defence Basic Training camp was organised at ITI College Jammu w.e.f. 02-02-2010 to 06-02-2010 by Civil Defence Jammu under the supervision of Sh.Khalil-ur-Rehman, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Jammu. During the camp, 102 students were imparted Civil Defence training in fire-fighting, first aid, rescue operation by Civil Defence experts i.e. Dr.Ranbushan Singh, Co-ordinator UNDP, Sh.D.N.Ganjoo, Rtd. Asstt. Director Fire Service and instructors from CTI HG/CD. The role of Civil Defence for organizing such awareness programmes was highly appreciated by Sr.Principal ITI Jammu.


 

 

FIVE DAY’S CIVIL DEFENCE TRAINING CAMP ORGANISED AT ITI COLLEGE SUNDERBANI

Civil Defence Sunderbani organised five day’s Civil Defence training camp w.e.f. 16-02-2010 to 20-02-2010 at ITI College Sunderbani. On this occasion Sh.Ravinder Sharma, MLC was the chief guest. The students of the college were imparted training in Civil Defence skills and acquainted with the role of Civil Defence during disasters. Smt.Vimla Pathania, Dy.Divisional Warden, Sh.Naveen Gupta, Sector Warden and Sh.S.K.Gupta, Sector Warden were also present on the occasion. SHO Sunderbani spoke about the importance of Civil Defence training and stressed upon the participants to come forward and join Civil Defence.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE ORGANISED FREE MEDICAL CAMP AT SRINAGAR

On 21-02-2010, Civil Defence organised free medical camp in collaboration with Bharat Scouts & Guides Srinagar at Batpora Hazratbal Srinagar in which more than 1500 patients were checked by the doctors from GMC Srinagar, SKIMS Soura and PHC Lal Bazar and free medicines were also given to the patients.


 

 

NEWS IN BRIEF:

  • On 4th Jan. 2010, Civil Defence Budgam organised one day Traffic awareness programme at Oxford Educational Institute Budgam in which about 200 students participated. Sh.Mohd Bashir, Dy.SP, Area Commander Homeguards Srinagar presided over the function, delivered lecture on Traffic awareness and made the participants aware about the Motor Vehicle Act and Rules. The participants were also acquainted with the demerits of using mobile phones while driving, driving without license, use of alcohol during driving, driving motor cycle without helmet and overloading.
  • On 09-01-2010, Civil Defence traffic awareness camp was organised at District Police Lines Baramulla by Civil Defence Baramulla. During the awareness camp the participants in addition to rules and regulations of traffic and the measures to be taken to avoid the road accidents, a detailed lecture was delivered by Doctor Mohd Farooq Naqshbandi of District Hospital Baramulla regarding first aid.

    As a part of annual calendar of awareness programmes organized all across the State by Directorate HG/CD & Aux. Police J&K, one day traffic awareness programme was organised at Bus stand Bandipora by Central Training Institute HG/CD Kashmir on 09-01-2010. Large number of people from all walks of life including drivers/ cleaners participated. They were acquainted with the rules and regulations of traffic.
  • On 07-01-2010, Civil Defence wardens/volunteers meeting was held at Aux. Police Line Poonch which was presided over by Dy.SP DAR / Incharge Dy.Controller Civil Defence Poonch. During the meeting it was stressed to organise meeting with the education authorities to undergo 12 points Civil Defence awareness programmes.

    On 11-01-2010, One day traffic awareness camp was organised at General Bus Stand/ Lal Chowk/ Near Jee Enn Bakery/ Polo View/ Dalgate/ Barzullah Chowk and various other places of Srinagar City by Civil Defence Srinagar under the supervision of Sh.G.A.Bhat, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Srinagar. The participants were briefed about the DO’s & Don’ts of traffic and measures to be taken to avoid road accidents.
  • On 12-01-2010, one day traffic awareness programme was successfully conduced at ‘Guru Nanak College of Education’ under the command of Sh.Davinder Singh, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Awantipora. He explained the aims, objectives and purpose of holding traffic awareness camps. Besides students, general public/driver, cleaners also participated who were briefed about the traffic rules and regulations. Dy.Controller CD Awanitpora stressed upon the drivers to obey traffic rules.
  • On 12-01-2010, Civil Defence Udhampur organised Traffic awareness camp at Govt. Higher Secondary School Barola. A large number of students including students of three adjoining schools participated and were made aware regarding the need and benefits of the driving license and insurance of the vehicles, precautions to be taken to avoid accidents during driving.

    Civil Defence awareness camps regarding traffic awareness were organised at Hr.Secondary School Julas, Hr.Secondary Boys school Poonch on 12-01-2010 and at Hr.Sec.School Chandak on 14-01-2010 respectively by Civil Defence Poonch. The students of the schools were briefed about the rules of traffic, use of helmet, need of driving license, insurance etc.
  • On 13-01-2010, Civil Defence awareness camp regarding rescue, first aid and fire fighting was conducted in Civil Defence Control Room Budgam presided over by Sh.M.A.Bulbul, SP, Commandant Aux. Police 1st Bn. Srinagar.
  • On 14-01-2010, Civil Defence Srinagar organised one day traffic awareness camp at different places of district Ganderbal (Beehama chowk/ Daderhama Chowk/ Kheer-Bawani/ Nagbal). During this programme besides Homeguard Volunteers of Ganderbal, a number of CD wardens/volunteers as well as good number of civilians from all walks of life including drivers/cleaners/ transporters and students participated in the camp with great enthusiasm. The participants were briefed about Do’s & Don’ts of traffic and were told about the purpose of holding such awareness camps.
  • A view of Civil Defence awareness camp organised at Govt. Girls High School Bainglar, Samba
    Civil Defence Town Samba organised traffic awareness programme at Govt. Boys High School Bainglard on 14-01-2010 & 15-01-2010. Besides the students, staff members of the school and local public also participated. Sh.Parveen Singh, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Samba highlighted the role of Civil Defence and delivered formal lecture on Do’s & Don’ts during driving.
  • A matador met with an accident at Pranoo while on its way Bhad to Doda on 15-01-2010. On receiving information, Civil Defence QRT of Pull Doda rushed the spot and launched rescue operation. Injured persons were lifted from deep gorge and shifted them to district hospital Doda.
  • Civil Defence Samba organised two Civil Defence traffic awareness camps one at Govt. Girls High School Suchani and other at Govt. High School Nanak Chak on 18-01-2010. The students of both the schools were briefed about the merits and demerits of safe and fast driving, need of driving license, use of traffic signals etc.
  • Civil Defence Anantnag conducted Traffic awareness programmes at Bijbehara, Matten, Khanabal and Achabal on 19th & 20th Jan. 2010. During the camp general masses were briefed about the safety measures to be taken while driving the vehicles.
  • On 19-01-2010, Civil Defence traffic awareness camp was organised at Govt. Girls High School Tarore in which about 200 students participated. Sh.Parveen Singh, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Samba briefed the students about the merits and demerits of safe & fast driving, use of parking zone & zebra crossing, preventive measure to be taken to avoid accidents while driving.
  • On 19-01-2010, a fire broke out in casualty block of District Hospital Anantnag at 7 A.M. A team of Civil Defence wardens/ volunteers rushed the spot. Rescue operation was conducted and indoor patients were shifted from District Hospital to other local hospital in the Civil Defence Ambulance.
  • On 19-01-2010, a camp on traffic awareness was organised at Handwara by Central Training Institute HG/CD Kashmir. A large number drivers and cleaners participated in the camp. They were apprised about Do’s & Don’ts of traffic like use of helmets by two wheeler drivers, avoid using of mobile phone while driving etc. The driver/ cleaner community were specially told to abide by traffic rules/ norms.
  • Civil Defence Doda organised one day traffic awareness camp at Pranoo Doda on 20-01-2010. During the camp local people of the area participated and were briefed about the Traffic rules and role of Civil Defence. Dy.Controller Civil Defence Doda alongwith Civil Defence Wardens were also present on the occasion.
  • On 20-01-2010, two Civil Defence traffic awareness camps were conducted one at Govt. Higher Secondary school Krimachi and other at Sports Training Centre Udhampur. Sh.Bodh Raj, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Udhampur briefed the participants about the traffic rules and regulations.
  • On 21-01-2010, Civil Defence Samba organised one day traffic awareness programme at Govt. High School Bari-Brahmana in which about 250 students participated. The students were acquainted with traffic rules and regulations. Besides Sh.Dharmvir Singh, Chief Warden & other Civil Defence warden service of Samba were also present on the occasion.
  • Civil Defence Udhampur organised one day traffic awareness camp at Industrial Area Batal Balian on 21-01-2010. During the camp the factory workers were briefed about the role of Civil Defence and traffic rules. Similar type of awareness camp was also conducted at Kalra College of Education Batal Balian on 23-01-2010. Staff and students of the college were made aware about the role of Civil Defence during disasters and measures to be taken while driving.
  • A view of Civil Defence traffic awareness camp organised at Govt. Higher Secondary School Akhnoor
    On 22-01-2010, One day traffic awareness programme and demonstration of higher building rescue & fire-fighting was organised by Civil Defence Jammu at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Akhnoor under the command of Sh.Khalil-Ur-Rehman, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Jammu. About 850 students and teaching staff participated and were acquainted with the traffic rules and role of Civil Defence. On this occasion Civil Defence Training certificates were also distributed among the trained CD volunteers.
  • Civil Defence town Nowshera organised traffic awareness camp at Middle school chowki Hundan Nowshera on 22-01-2010. Besides the students of Middle School Chowki Hundan and of High School Nonial local people also participated. Sh.R.P.Damral, Dy.Divsional Warden Nowshera acquainted the participants with the traffic rules and stressed them to observe traffic rules to avoid any kind of untoward happening. He also briefed about the benefits of insurance of vehicle, driving license and wearing of helmet while driving two wheelers. He also asked the participants to prevent the driver of the vehicles on which they are traveling from breaking traffic rules. They were also asked if the driver does not properly adhere to the traffic rules while driving they must lodge complaint against him with the nearest concerned authority.
  • On 23-01-2010, Civil Defence awareness camp on traffic was organised at Govt. High School Shah Balore by Civil Defence Samba in which about 200 students participated. Sh.Parveen Singh, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Samba delivered lecture on benefits and need of driving license and insurance of the vehicle. Sh.Sanjay Gupta, Dy.Chief Warden and Sh.Raj Singh, Post Warden Civil Defence were also present on the occasion.
  • On 24-01-2010, one day traffic awareness camp was organised at High School Kalideh, Sunderbani. Smt.Bimla Pathania, Dy.Divisional Warden, Sh.Navneet Gupta, Dy.Post Warden acquainted the students with traffic rules and regulations.

    A Civil Defence traffic awareness camp was organised at Govt. Higher Secondary School Dhangri, Rajouri on 25-01-2010. On this occasion, Dy.SP Traffic / DTI were also present. He gave brief lecture on traffic rules and regulations. Sh.K.K.Langer, Chief Warden CD Rajouri also delivered lecture on Civil Defence. About 200 students participated and were acquainted with the traffic rules and role of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • On 25-01-2010, Civil Defence Jammu organised two traffic awareness programmes one at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Rehari and other at Govt.Boys Higher Secondary School Sarwal. About 700 students including staff members of both the schools participated in the said awareness camp and were briefed about the traffic rules and importance of Civil Defence. The services of Civil Defence experts from CTI HG/CD Jammu were utilized during awareness programme.
  • On the occasion of Republic Day, 30 Civil Defence volunteers were deployed with local police for traffic regulations and public assistance by Civil Defence Samba.
  • On 28-01-2010 Civil Defence awareness camps regarding traffic awareness were organised at Boys Hr. Sec. School Mendhar, Girls Hr. Sec. School Mendhar, Hr.S.School Harni, Girls High School Ari, Hr.Sec. School Gursai and High school Mankote. The students of these schools were acquainted with the rules / regulations of traffic and role of Civil Defence.
  • A view of Civil Defence traffic awareness camp held at NCC camp Nagrota
    One day traffic awareness programme was organised by Civil Defence Jammu at NCC camp Nagrota on 23-01-2010 under the supervision of Sh.Khalil-Ur-Rehman, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Jammu. The main aim of this awareness programme was to acquaint the NCC cadets/ staff with traffic rules like demerits of mobile phone while driving, drunken driving, wearing helmet while driving two wheeler vehicle, use of traffic signal and zebra crossing etc. On this occasion a live Civil Defence demonstration was also exhibited by the trained Civil Defence instructors.
  • About 150 students including teaching staff and 40 B.Ed practical students of Sh.Snatan Dharam Sabha High School Rehari participated in the Civil Defence traffic awareness camp organised on 27-01-2010 by Civil Defence Jammu and were made aware about road safety, traffic signal and traffic rules.
  • Civil Defence wardens/volunteers of district Rajouri were deployed at various naka points with district police to assist the police for frisking / checking in connection with celebration of Republic day w.e.f. 24-01-2010 to 26-01-2010.

    Civil Defence Srinagar organised five day’s Basic Training Course at Gund-Hassi-Bhat (Lowaypora) Srinagar w.e.f. 28-01-2010 to 01-02-2010. During the training camp participants were imparted Civil Defence Basic training i.e. fire fighting, first aid etc.
  • On 29-01-2010, Civil Defence Samba organised traffic awareness cum Civil Defence Certificate distribution programme at Thalora Mandi. About 300 local people and prominent citizens of the area participated and were briefed about the traffic rules and highlighted the role of Civil Defence. On this occasion, Civil Defence certificates were also distributed among the female CD volunteers who have undergone five days basic training course w.e.f. 24-8-09 to 28-08-09 at Thalora Mandi.
  • On 30-01-2010, Public awareness camp on traffic was organised at ITI College Budgam by Civil Defence Budgam. About 150 students and teachers participated in this awareness programme. On this occasion, Sh.Mohd Bashir, Dy.SP, Area Commander Homeguards Srinagar and Dr.Ab.Majid, Dy.Chief Warden delivered lectures on the traffic rules and regulations.
  • On 30-01-2010, a traffic awareness camp was organised at St.Josephs Convent School Rajouri by Civil Defence Rajouri. About 160 students attended the camp and were briefed about the traffic rules and regulations. Sh.K.K.Langer, Chief Warden, Sh.Liyaqat Choudhary, Sector Warden, Sh.Naveen Mahajan, Sector Warden alongwith media persons were also present on the occasion.
  • Civil Defence Traffic awareness camp was organised at Khellani Doda on 29-01-2010. Dy.Controller CD Doda and Sh.Basant Singh, Post Warden acquainted the participants with traffic rules. About 100 local people participated in this camp and were also briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence. On 31-01-2010, another Civil Defence traffic awareness camp was organised at National Highway Pull Doda. Hundreds of locals and passengers witnessed the programme and got aware about the traffic rules and regulations.
  • On 31-01-2010, One day traffic awareness programme was organised by Civil Defence Nowshera at Town Hall. Local citizens and employees of the town area commitee were made aware about traffic rules and regulations by Sh.R.P.Damral, Dy.Divisional Warden Nowshera.

    On 04-02-2010, Civil Defence Samba organised first aid awareness camp at Govt. High School Jatwal in which about 165 students and teaching staff participated. On this occasion Dr.Lekh Raj from PHC Ghagwal was invited to deliver lecture on first aid. A live demonstration on first aid and rescue was also exhibited by SDRF Team.
  • On 04-02-2010, on the request of SHO Samba, a patient namely HC Chain Singh No.223/S of Police Station Samba under serious condition was shifted from District Hospital Samba to GMC Jammu in Civil Defence Ambulance for further treatment.
  • On 06-02-2010, Civil Defence organised one Civil Defence first Aid Camp at Govt. Girls Hr.Sec.School Nowshera. During the camp, Dr.Liaquit Ali delivered lecture on first aid among the students. Sh.Rakesh Kumar, Dy.SP, SDPO Nowshea and Sh.R.P.Damral were also present on the occasion.
  • Civil Defence Samba organised two First Aid camps one at Adarsh Vidya Peeth Hr.Sec.School and other at National High School Samba on 11-02-2010 and 13-02-2010 respectively. About 1000 students of these schools participated and were acquainted with the role of Civil Defence during disasters. Dr.Vijay Sharma invited from District Hospital Samba delivered lecture on first aid to the students.
  • On 10-02-2010, one day Civil Defence awareness camp on first aid as well as CD demonstration was organised by the Civil Defence Jammu at Govt. Industrial Training Institute Jammu. The main objective of this programme was to make the students and staff members aware about the first aid before hospitalization.
  • Civil Defence organised one day first aid awareness camp at Bhaderwah on 15-02-2010. Hundreds of civilians of Bhaderwah attended the awareness camp and were acquainted with the first aid techniques and role of Civil Defence.

    On 19-02-2010 a Civil Defence first aid awareness camp was organised at Govt. High School Sarna, Samba in which about 200 students and 15 teachers participated. Dr.Sudershan Katoch from District Hospital Samba delivered lecture on first aid to the participants. Sh.Parveen Singh, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Samba, Sh.Dharmvir Singh, Chief Warden also delivered lectures on first aid.
  • On 19-02-2010, CD awareness camp was organised at Govt. ITI Sunderbani. During the camp Ex-Sarpanch Sh.Khem Raj, Smt.Bimla Pathania, Dy.Divisional Wardens were also present.
  • On 20-2-2010, one day Civil Defence awareness on first aid was organised at New Light Hr.Sec.School Balore, Samba in which about 250 students participated. Dr.Sudershan Katoch from District Hospital Samba briefed the students on first aid.
  • On 23-02-2010, Civil Defence Jammu organised two first aid awareness camps one at Govt. Degree College Bishnah and other at Bal Bharti Hr. Sec. School Jammu. The services of Dr.Rakesh Anand of Govt. Hospital Bishnah and staff of CTI HG/CD Jammu were utilized during the camp. The main aims of these CD awareness camps were to make the students and staff aware about the first aid before Hospitalization.
  • An awareness camp on first aid was organised at Industrial Training Institute Bandipora on 23-02-2010 by Central Training Institute of HG/CD Kashmir. Students including faculty members participated in the camp.
  • On 24-02-2010, an awareness camp on first aid was organised at ITI (Chari Sharif) by CD town Budgam in which students and local people participated.
  • On 24-02-2010, an awareness camp on first aid was organised at Ashoka Model High school Bainglard Samba in which 250 students participated. On this occasion, Dr.Vijay Sharma from District Hospital Samba delivered a lecture on first aid.

    Civil Defence Jammu organised one day awareness camp at Govt. Higher Secondary School for Boys, R.S.Pura on 25-02-2010 in which students / staff members were made aware with regard to preventive measures for first aid before hospitalization as well as unexpected devastating fires.
  • On 28-02-2010, one day awareness cum training camp was organised at Apex Tuition centre Handwara. A number of students and general public participated in the camp. Para medical staff of the Sub district hospital Handwara also associated in the training programme.
  • On 26-02-2010, one day awareness camp on first aid was organised in DPL Baramulla in which CD volunteers, Homeguard Volunteers and civilian participated. Dr.Farooq Ahmed of District Hospital Baramulla was specially invited to deliver lecture on first aid.
  • On the eve of Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi, Civil Defence awareness camp was organised at Hazratbal Shrine under the command of Sh.G.A.Bhat, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Srinagar. On the occasion, Civil Defence Anantnag also conducted first aid cum CD awareness camp at Krangsoo & village Pheru. Civil Defence wardens/volunteers alongwith CD Ambulance were also detailed for lending assistance to the general public.
  • Sh.Alok Nanda, Dy.Divisional Warden and Sh.Ramjee Raina, Sector Warden of Civil Defence Jammu attended 06 Indcident Managament Command System Course at NCDC Nagpur w.e.f. 01-02-2010 to 05-02-2010. They also participated in Badminton Competition held in NCDC Nagpur where Sh.Alok Nanda won Single of the Badminton competition and Sh.Ramjee Raina remained runner up in doubles of competition.
