SH.S.GOPAL REDDY, IPS IGP HG/CD & AUX. POLICE J&K STRESSED UPON AWARENESS OF CIVIL DEFENCE ACTIVITIES

Civil Defence organisation organised one day awareness camp at Govt. Higher Secondary School Ramnagar on 30-04-2010. Stressing the need for generating greater awareness about the Civil Defence activities among the general masses and particularly in younger generation, Sh.S.Gopal Reddy, IPS Inspector General of Police Homeguards/Civil Defence & Aux. Police J&K called upon the functionaries of the Civil Defence organisation Udhampur to put in their best efforts in educating the masses residing in rural areas also about various aspects of the Civil Defence for their self defence as well as in case of any disaster.

Sh.S.Gopal Reddy, IPS highlighted the role of Civil Defence in protecting the precious lives and property in the event of war, break out of fire and other disasters. He also said that trained Civil Defence volunteers could prove instrumental in handling the situation effectively besides help in building self confidence and concern for humanity among the students. Speaking on the occasion, Sh.Gulzar Singh Slathia, IPS DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range exhorted upon the students to take keen interest in the training programme and derive the best out of this programme.

Sh.P.R.Manhas, IPS DIG HG/CD & Aux. Police Jammu also spoke on the occasion and stressed upon the need for organizing more & more Civil Defence programmes in various Public/educational institutions of Civil Society so that students could be sensitized about the ways and means to protect the life and property in case of any disaster. Sh.Surinder Gupta, SSP Udhampur while appreciating the functioning of Civil Defence organisation in Udhampur said that activity of the Organisation to organise awareness programmes in rural areas of the district would certainly go a long way in creating Civil Defence awareness among the common masses about the disaster management. Sh.Bodh Raj, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Udhampur presented vote of thanks.

Among others Sh.Swantantar Dev Kotwal, Advocate, Sh.Surinder Khajuria, Chief Warden, prominent citizens and students attended the programme.


 

CIVIL DEFENCE ORGANISED ONE DAY AWARENESS CAMP AT HAZRATBAL SHRINE

On 05-03-2010, Civil Defence Srinagar organised one day first aid/awareness camp at Hazratbal Shrine on the eve of Friday following Eid-Milad-Ul-Nabi. The general public as well as the Govt. authorities who visited the shrine hailed the efforts of the Civil Defence volunteers in helping the pilgrims while providing general assistance during the festival.


 

CIVIL DEFENCE BASIC TRAINING IMPARTED TO STUDENTS AT DODA

Five days Civil Defence training camp was organised at Govt. Hr. Secondary School Khalani Doda w.e.f. 05-03-2010. During the camp 45 volunteers were trained in various Civil Defence skills i.e. fire fighting, first aid & rescue operations etc. On the conclusion, of the training programme, a demonstration was also given by the trainees to the general public of Khalani, Doda.


 

CIVIL DEFENCE RESCUED INJURED PERSONS AT SAMBA

On 10-03-2010, a mini bus No.JK02AL-4028 met with an accident at Dehani Samba. Civil Defence rescue team reached on spot and injured persons were rescued/ shifted to nearby hospital. One person namely Balwant Singh S/O Sh.Ram Chand R/O Kathua who was under serious condition shifted to Govt. Medical College Jammu in Civil Defence ambulance.


 

CIVIL DEFENCE TRAINING CERTIFICATES DISTRUBUTED AMONG CD VOLUNTEERS

Sh.G.A.Bhat, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Srinagar distributed CD training certificates among the CD volunteers at Hokarsar Gundhassibhat

On 12-03-2010, Civil Defence Srinagar organised valedictory function of five days CD training at Hokarsar Gund hassi bhat in which 150 CD volunteers were trained. On the occasion, Civil Defence certificates alongwith remuneration charges were distributed among the CD volunteers who have undergone five days Civil Defence Basic training.


 

CIVIL DEFENCE ORGANISED AWARENESS CUM TRAINING CAMP AT ITI COLLEGE JAMMU

On 15-03-2010, One day Civil Defence awareness cum training camp for rescuing the victims from higher building was organised at Govt. Industrial Training Institute Jammu. The main aim of the camp was to facilitate the students and teaching staff with regard to rescue operations to be conducted during disaster.


 

FIVE DAYS CIVIL DEFENCE BASIC TRAINING CAMP ORGANISED AT NOWSHERA

Civil Defence Nowshera organised five days CD Basic training camp at New National Public School Nowhera w.e.f 18-03-2010 to 22-03-2010. On this occasion, Sh.Mohinder Singh, Dy.Chief Education officer Nowshera was the chief guest. Civil Defence instructors from CTI HG/CD Jammu demonstrated CD demonstrations on rescue operation, fire fighting and first aid. Sh.R.P.Damral Dy.Divisional Warden highlighted the role and activities of Civil Defence during disasters.


 

FIVE DAYS CIVIL DEENCE TRAINING IMPARTED TO STUDENTS OF HIGH SCHOOL SATHRA, POONCH

Five days Civil Defence training camp was organised at High School Sathra, Poonch w.e.f. 05-04-2010 to 09-04-2010. During the camp 158 students were imparted Civil Defence Basic Training in various skills i.e. fire fighting, rescue operations & first aid etc. A team of trained instructors was deputed from Central Training Institute HG/CD Jammu for effective training among the Civil Defence volunteers.


 

SH.S.GOPAL REDDY, IPS IGP HG/CD & AUX. POLICE J&K REVIEWED THE ACTIVITIES OF CIVIL DEFENCE TOWNS OF JAMMU PROVINCE

A meeting of all the Dy.Controllers / Area Commanders of Homeguards of Jammu province was held on 24-04-2010 at the Directorate of Homeguards/ Civil Defence & Auxiliary Police J&K-Jammu under the Chairmanship of Sh.S.Gopal Reddy, IPS Inspector General of Police Homeguards/ CD & Aux.Police J&K-Jammu. The meeting was called to review the Civil Defence activities conducted in various Districts during the first three months of the year. All Dy.Controllers expressed their views on the development of Civil Defence activities.

During the first three months of the year 2010, 83 Civil Defence awareness camps, 19 demonstrations by SDRF and 03 mock exercises were organized in various Civil Defence towns at Jammu, Udhampur, Doda, Kathua, Samba, Rajouri, Poonch, Sunderbani, Nowshera and Akhnoor. Besides 1500 Civil Defence volunteers were also trained in these CD towns during first three months of the year.The IGP HG/CD/Aux.Police J&K-Jammu emphasized the officers to acquaint the general public for taking precautionary measures during any natural calamity or manmade disasters. He also stressed the participants that 12 months awareness programme already chalked out by this Directorate should be implemented in letter & spirit. The Divisional Commandant Homeguards Jammu, Staff officer to IGP HG/CD/Aux.Police J&K and Commandant Auxiliary 2nd Bn. Jammu were also present on the occasion.


 

CIVIL DEFENCE ORGANISED DEMONSTRATION CUM TRAINING CAMP AT SRINAGAR

On 28-04-2010, a demonstration cum training camp was organised by the Civil Defence Srinagar in collaboration with Fire & Emergency Services under the supervision of Dy.Controller Civil Defence Srinagar at Babadam Khanyar, Srinagar in the premises of M.P.Higher Secondary School. During the camp, students and faculty members were acquainted with kinds of fire/ causes of fire and techniques of fire fighting when fire break out due to oil, petrol, short circuit and crackers etc. Moreover, on 28-04-2010 Civil Defence Srinagar consequently organised same demonstration programme at Kangan, Ganderbal. During the camp, a number of Civil Defence volunteers and people from all walks of life participated and persuaded by the experts of Civil Defence about the fires and techniques of controlling fires.


 

CIVIL DEFENCE SAMBA ORGANISED FIRE FIGHTING AWARENESS CAMP

On 28-04-2010, Civil Defence awareness camp on fire fighting was organised by CD Samba at Govt. High School Rehian under the supervision of Sh.Parveen Singh, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Samba. SDRF team under the command of Sh.Chanderjeet Singh, Dy.SP gave live demonstration of fire-fighting and rescue operation.


 

NEWS IN BRIEF

  • On 04-03-2010, Civil Defence awareness camp was organised at Nagri Doda. Hundreds of locals and prominent citizens of Doda witnessed the awareness camp and were acquainted with the role of Civil Defence during disasters.
  • Five days Civil Defence training camp was organised at Govt. ITI College Doda w.e.f. 11-03-2010. During the camp 45 volunteers of college were imparted Civil Defence Basic Training in fire-fighting, rescue operation & first aid etc.
  • Five days Civil Defence training camp organised at Govt. Degree College for women Kathua w.e.f. 15-03-2010 to 19-03-2010. During the camp 154 students were imparted Civil Defence training in various skills i.e. fire fighting, first aid & rescue operation etc. Sh.Mohd Aslam Dy.SP, Dy.Controller CD Kathua also highlighted the role of Civil Defence during various disasters.
  • Civil Defence Jammu organised round the clock first aid/rescue camp at Bahu fort Jammu on the eve of Navratras w.e.f. 16-03-2010 to 24-03-2010.
  • On the eve of Ist Navratra 16-03-2010, Civil Defence rescue team alongwith CD ambulance was deputed to Chichi Mata Temple for handling any eventuality. On 23-3-2010, a Civil Defence demonstration on rescue operation was also demonstrated by Civil Defence experts.
  • On 17-03-2010, two Civil Defence awareness camps were organised by CD town Kathua one at Nav Adarsh Hr.Sec.School Kathua and other at Govt. Degree College Kathua. During the camp students were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disasters. Five days Civil Defence Basic Training camp was also organised at Govt. Degree College Kathua w.e.f. 17-03-2010.
  • On 18-03-2010, a mock drill exercise on earthquake was conducted by National Disaster Response Force at Govt.Hr.Secondary School Boys, Baramulla in which Civil Defence volunteers and SDRF personnel also participated to aware the general masses for conducting rescue operations during disasters.
  • Civil Defence Budgam organised awareness camp on rescue operation at Govt. Hr.Sec. School Budgam on 18-3-2010. About 400 students participated in the camp and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disasters. A live demonstration was given regarding fire fighting and rescue operations. On this occasion, Sh.Zahoor Ahmed, Dy.SP, Principal CTI HG/CD Srinagar also delivered lecture on the role of Civil Defence.

    On 20-03-2010, Civil Defence awareness camp was organised at Govt. Degree College Kathua in which college students/staff and CD wardens participated. Civil Defence instructors from CTI HG/CD Jammu delivered lectures regarding first aid, fire fighting and rescue operation. On the occasion CD demonstration was also demonstrated by SDRF personnel.
  • Civil Defence town Sunderbani imparted CD awareness among the general public on emergency method of rescue operation during three days Health Mela organised by District Health Committee Rajouri w.e.f. 20-03-2010 to 22-03-2010.
  • On 21-03-2010, rescue team of Civil Defence Doda saved the life of a person namely Gori Lal S/O Sh.Dulla Ram R/O Malhori Doda while drowning in river Chinab at Nafli, Doda.
  • On 22-03-2010, One day Civil Defence awareness cum demonstration programme on rescue operation was organised at Nirankari Bhawan Samba. Sh.Parveen Singh, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Samba delivered lecture on the role of Civil Defence during disaster. Sh.Raj Singh, Sh.Nar Singh, Post wardens and Sh.R.K.Sethi, Sh.S.K.Dubey, Sector Wardens were also present during the camp.
  • Five days Civil Defence Basic Training camp was organised at Govt. High School Pranoo Doda w.e.f 20-03-2010. The training was imparted to 57 CD volunteers in various Civil Defence skills i.e. first aid, fire-fighting & rescue operation etc.
  • On 22-03-2010, a tanker No.JK02G-10937 and Scooter No.JK02A/2306 met with an accident coming from opposite directions at Nanak Chak Samba. Civil Defence team alongwith ambulance reached on spot and started rescue operation. Scooter Driver Abhi R/O Vijaypur died on spot and shifted to District Hospital Samba.
  • On 22nd and 23rd March, 2010, Civil Defence Rajouri organised awareness cum demonstration programmes on rescue operation at various educational institutions i.e. New National Public High School Nowshera, S.R.College Rajouri, Elite Public High School Saj, Little Angle High School Rajdhani Thanamandi. A large number of students/ staff participated in these camps. Sh.K.K.Langer, Chief Warden CD Rajouri highlighted the role and importance of Civil Defence during disasters. S.D.R.F personnel from Aux. Police 2nd Bn. Jammu also demonstrated live demonstration on rescue operations.
  • Civil Defence awareness cum live demonstration was organised by CD Poonch at Govt. High School Sanai Surankot on 25-03-2010. On this occasion, SDRF team demonstrated demonstration on rescue operations. Similarly on 26-03-2010, CD awareness cum demonstration camps were organised at S.T.Jospeh Convent School Poonch, Govt. Boys Hr.Secondary School Mendhar and Govt. Girls Middle School Mendhar in which a large number of students participated and were made aware about the Civil Defence techniques.
  • On 25-03-2010, one day awareness camp for rescuing the victims from the higher building on fire was organised at Govt. Women College Parade Jammu under the command of Sh.Khalil- Ur-Rehman, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Jammu. The main aim of this awareness camp was to aware the students and teaching staff about rescue operations to be conducted during disasters.
  • On 25-03-2010, one day Civil Defence awareness camp was organised at PTS Kathua by CD Kathua. On this occasion, Sh.V.K.Bhat, Divisional fire officer and Sh.Dhian Chand, Chief Warden also delivered lectures on role of Civil Defence during disasters.
  • On 27-03-2010, Civil Defence Sunderbani organised one day awareness camp on rescue operation at Hr. Secondary School Bajabain. About 120 students participated in this camp and were made aware about the role of Civil Defence during disasters. Live demonstration on rescue operation was also demonstrated by SDRF personnel.
  • On 27-03-2010, one day Civil Defence awareness camp was organised at Sewa Bharti Ved Mandir Amphalla Jammu. The main aim of this awareness camp was to facilitate the students and teaching staff to make aware about the techniques of rescue operations during disasters.
  • On 27-03-2010, one day Civil Defence awareness camp organised at Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School Bandipora under the supervision of Sh.Zahoor Ahmed, Dy.SP, Principal CTI HG/CD Srinagar. About 450 students including staff members of the institute participated in the programme. The main thrust of the camp was given on rescue operations to be taken during air raids, fire fighting, natural calamities, rescue operations at accidental sites and water rescue during drowning and floods.

    Bari-Brahmana
    On 30-3-2010 a Civil Defence awareness camp on rescue operation was organised by Civil Defence Samba at Visen Industry Ltd. Bari-brahmana. About 150 industrial employees participated in the said programme. SDRF Team deputed from Aux. Police 2nd Bn. Jammu gave live demonstration on various rescue operations during disaster. On this occasion Civil Defence certificates were also distributed among the Civil Defence volunteers who have undergone Basic Training Course w.e.f. 22/2/2010 to 26/2/2010.
  • Civil Defence awareness cum demonstrations were conducted at Himal Hotel Boulvard Road Srinagar and District Police Line Ganderbal on 16-03-2010 and 30-03-2010 respectively by Civil Defence team comprising of instructors of CTI HG/CD and RCDCC Srinagar. During mock execise at Himal Hotel, Dy.Commisioner cum Controller Civil Defence Srinagar, Brig.B.K.Khana (Sr.Specialist NDM Authority), Fire & Emergency Service officer and Disaster Management officers of the Divisional administration Kashmir also participated.
  • On the occasion of Ziarat Sharief Hazrat Baba Zain-ud-din Wali, Civil Defence Anantnag organised one day awareness camp at Ashmuqaam on 29-03-2010. Civil Defence wardens team alongwith CD ambulance were also deputed to assist the people for any eventuality.
  • On 06-04-2010, a patient namely Smt.Simaran Kour W/O Sh. Shanker Singh R/O Chack Ram Chand under serious condition shifted from District Hospital Samba to (ASCOMS) Batra Jammu in the Ambulance of Civil Defence Samba.
  • On 02-04-2010, one day Civil Defence awareness camp was organised at Village Ghordi, Udhampur. SDRF team gave live demonstrations on rescue operations and fire fighting. During the camp, a large number of villagers participated in the camp.
  • On 06-04-2010, Civil Defence awareness cum debate competition among the college students was organised by the Civil Defence Udhampur in collaboration of Range Police Headquarter Udhampur at Women College Udhampur.
  • On 10-4-2010, a Civil Defence wardens meeting was convened at RCDCC Srinagar to discuss the availability/deployment of wardens /volunteers to assist the civil administration on demand.
  • One day Civil Defence awareness camp on fire fighting was organised at Dewan Badri Nath School, Mubark Mandi, Jammu on 12-04-2010 under the supervision of Sh.Khalil-Ur-Rehman, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Jammu. The main aim of the camp was to facilitate the students and teaching staff with regard to preventive measures for unexpected devastating fire. The services of Sh.Alok Nanda, Dy.Divisional Warden and Civil Defence instructors were utilized to make the awareness more effective.
  • On 13-04-2010, one day Civil Defence awareness camp was organised at National High school Samba under the supervision of Sh.Parveen Singh, Dy.SP, Dy.Controller Civil Defence Samba. About 250 students and staff members participated in the camp and were briefed about the preventive measures of devastating fire.
  • Civil Defence Udhampur organised three days awareness camp at Devika Mandir w.e.f. 14-04-2010 to 16-04-2010 on the eve of Baisakhi Mela.
  • On 19-04-2010, Civil Defence awareness cum training camp was organised at Govt. Girls Hr. Secondary School Handwara by Central Training Institute HG/CD Srinagar. During the camp, the students of school were briefed about the fire, kinds of fire, method of fire fighting, remedies to prevent fire etc.
  • On 20-04-2010, one day Civil Defence awareness camp was organised at Govt. High School Rajal Nowshera. On this occasion Sh.Rajinder Prasad Damral, Dy.Divisional Warden briefed the students about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disasters and also delivered lecture on fire fighting.
  • On 21-04-2010, Civil Defence Samba organised one day awareness camp at Village Katli, Samba. About 400 villagers and Employees of Paragal Brick Kiln participated in this camp. Instructors from CTI HG/CD Jammu alongwith SDRF team demonstrated live demonstration on fire-fighting. The participants were also briefed about the role of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • On 21-04-2010, one day Civil Defence awareness camp was organised at W.No.5, Barrian Udhampur
  • On 28-04-2010, Civil Defence fire-fighting awareness camp was conducted at Aishmuqaam, Anantnag. A large number of people participated during the camp. Moreover, Ist Aid camp was also established at the Aishmuqaam for assistance of Pilgrims in connection with Shab-Urs of Hazrat-Baba Jain-din.
  • On 28-04-2010, one day Civil Defence awareness camp was organised at Mehboob-ul-Alam Hr.Sec. Institute Bandipora in which all the students of the institute participated. The teaching staff including the Principal of the school was also present on the occasion. The participants were acquainted with the role of Civil Defence during disaster especially on fire fighting, rescue operations by the expert instructors of CTI HG/CD Srinagar.
  • On 29-04-2010, Civil Defence awareness camp on fire fighting was organised by Civil Defence Samba at New Light Higher Secondary School Balore. About 350 students and staff members participated in the programme. SDRF team also demonstrated live demonstration on fire fighting.
  • On 29-04-2010, Civil Defence Budgam organised one day CD awareness camp at (Rakshalina Chadoora), Budgam. During the camp, role of Civil Defence during disaster, importance of Civil Defence training were briefed to the participants. On the occasion, Area Commander Homeguards Srinagar, Divisional / Dy.Divisional Wardens were also present.
