TWO DAYS STATE LEVEL WORKSHOP ON "DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AND MITIGATION" (ROLE OF CIVIL DEFENCE AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS ) ORGANISED AT SKICC SRINAGAR

Two Days State Level Workshop on "Disaster Preparedness and Mitigation"(Role of Civil Defence and other Organizations) was organized by the Directorate of Home guards/Civil Defence and Auxiliary Police J&K at Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre ( SKICC) Srinagar on July 15th and 16th, 2011. The aim of the Workshop was to bring together all the stakeholders and sensitize them to the various aspects of disaster preparedness and mitigation so that a well-awared community viz-a-viz the safety features and life saving techniques could be discussed. The workshop tried to highlight the concerns and need of various stakeholders as preparedness is considered to be the key to minimize losses on account of life and property due to any disaster whether natural or manmade.

The Workshop was attended by 163 participants drawn from various organizations of Government/non-government/CD Wardens/Police & Civil administration. In addition to this several Central Government Organizations including representatives from Army,BSF, CRPF, NDRF and Beacon also participated in the Workshop. Besides, 46 CD volunteers and 47 teachers/students of Govt.Girls High School Panthachowk also participated actively in the Workshop.

On 15th July,2011 two days Workshop was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Minister of State for Home J&K, Shri Nasir Aslam Wani, whileas Shri Kuldeep Khoda,IPS Director General of Police cum-Commandant General Home guards/Director Civil Defence J&K presided over the function.

In his inaugural address the Hon'ble Minister highlighted the need to organize such events to create mass awareness throughout the nook and corner of the State. He assured full support from the Government for strengthening the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) in Jammu and Kashmir. On this occasion while welcoming the participants and delegates, Dr.Ram Lubhaya, IPS ADGP HG/CD & Aux. Police J&K highlighted the need, aims and objectives of the Workshop and stressed upon the participants to carry forward the message to the vulnerable sections of the society. Shri Kuldeep Khoda,IPS Director General of Police Cum Commandant General Home guards/Director Civil Defence shared his plans to upgrade the strength of SDRF in the State in terms of human and other resources. He stressed upon the participants to improve their skills related to Search & Rescue, First Aid, Fire Fighting, Relief and Rehabilitation etc. On this occasion Shri Mubarak A.Ganaie,IPS DIG Home guards/CD/Aux.Police Kashmir offered vote of thanks to the chairperson as well as to the guest participants.

During the workshop, threadbare discussions were held and presentations were also displayed by Dr. G.M.Dar of J&K IMPA, Prof. P.C.Joshi of Delhi University, Dr.Ram Lubhaya, IPS ADGP, Mr. Anuj Tiwari, GFDRR New Delhi, Mr. Shoaib Afra, Action Aid India, Prof. Shakeel A. Romushoo, of Kashmir University, Prof. Amit K.Bose, (Rtd) IIT Roorki, Prof.G.M.Bhat of Jammu University, Dr. Jaya Kumar, Consultant NDMA New Delhi, Dr. Muzaffar Ahmed, Hon'ble Member NDMA, Dr.Ranbhushan Singh, Co-ordinator DDMA Jammu and Shri Sonam Lotus, Incharge Director MET Office Srinagar. Various topics were covered which include "Disaster Trends & Impacts", "Role of Police and Civil Defence/HG & SDRF in Disaster Preparedness and Mitigation", "Community Participation in Disaster Risk Reduction", "Role of NGOs in Disaster Preparedness", "Structural Aspects of buildings for Earthquake Safety", "Role of Science & Technology in Disaster Preparedness" and "Psycho-Social support to the Disaster victims", "Role of Early Warning and Forecasting in Disaster Preparedness"etc. This was followed by an open house discussion.

The Valedictory function of the Workshop was held on 16th July,2011 at 1600 hours in which the Chief Secretary Government of J&K Shri Madhav Lal, (IAS) was the Chief Guest, whileas Shri Kuldeep Khoda,IPS Director General of Police Cum Commandant General Home guards/Director Civil Defence J&K again presided over the function. In addition Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad, Hon'ble Member NDMA, Shri B.R.Sharma,(IAS) Principal Secretary to Government Home Department, J&K, Shri Asgar H.Samoon, (IAS) Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Shri K.Rajendra Kumar,IPS Addl. Director General of Police Armed/Law & Order J&K, senior officers from Civil and Police administration were also present on the occasion. In his valedictory address, the Chief Secretary expressed his satisfaction and pleasure while referring to the schedule and the Sessions covered in the Workshop. He highlighted the need to organize such Workshops at the local level through PRIs.


 

TO REVIEW THE ARRANGEMENTS FOR SHRI AMAR NATH JI YATRA 2011, Dr.RAM LUBHAYA, IPS, ADGP ACCOMPANIED BY SH.SHAM LAL SHARMA, IPS DIG CONVENED CIVIL DEFENCE WARDENS MEETING AT RCDCC JAMMU ON 03-06-2011 AND AT SAMBA ON 04-06-2011

To review the arrangements for Shri Amar Nathi Ji Yatra 2011, Dr.Ram Lubhaya, IPS ADGP HG/CD & AUX. Police J&K convened Civil Defence wardens meeting at Civil Defence Town Jammu on 03-06-2011 and Samba on 04-06-2011. The main objectives of the meetings were to review the arrangements for Shri Amar Nath Ji Yatra 2011, commencing w.e.f. 29-06-2011. Besides other activities Civil Defence activities like providing first aid, rescue and facilitating yatries during their Yatra in District Jammu, Samba and Udhampur were also discussed. During the meetings, among others Shri Sham Lal Sharma, IPS DIG HG/CD & Aux. Police Jammu, concerned Dy.Controllers Civil Defence and Civil Defence Wardens were also present. While addressing, Dr.Ram Lubhaya, IPS ADGP HG/CD & Aux. Police J&K directed the Civil Defence Warden services to remain extra vigilant during Sh.Amar Nath Ji Yatra 2011 and assist the District Police/administration in order to make the yatra more successful in which a large number of pilgrims from all over the country are coming for 'Darshan' of Holy Shivlingum.

ADGP stressed upon the Dy.Controllers of respective CD Towns to gear up Civil Defence activities in their respective towns in order to make the organization more effective. He also stressed the Civil Defence Wardens to aware more and more people to join as Civil Defence Volunteers. Dy.Commissioner-cum-Controller Civil Defence while speaking on the occasions assured worthy ADGP HG/CD & Aux. Police J&K that all out effort will be made to make the Yatra comfortable and successful. Civil Defence Wardens also assured worthy ADGP HG/CD & Aux. Police J&K for providing full co-operation to the Civil Defence organization and District Police/Administration during Sh.Amar Nath Ji Yatra to make the Yatra comfortable.


 

CIVIL DEFENCE / HOMEGUARD VOLUNTEERS LAUNCHED RESCUE OPERATION DURING CLOUD BURST AT BAGGER IN DISTRICT DODA

On 8-6-2011 at about 6.30 PM, a cloud burst took place at Bagger in Distt. Doda caused lot of damage to life and property in the area. Three persons namely Khalid Hussain S/O Mohd Shafi Bhat age 29 years R/O Bagger, Mohan Lal S/O Devi Dass age 22 years R/O Bagger, Ab. Razaq S/O Habibullah age 39 years R/O Kurmul Bagger were missing & were suspected to be washed away in the flood in river Chenab. About 10 vehicles were submerged in the debris. A forest hut and at least 07 khokhas were completely damaged besides some Dhabas were also found to have been damaged due to cloud burst.

On getting information Civil Defence Volunteers/ VHGs along with local Police immediately reached on spot and started rescue operation under the command of Dy.SP DAR cum Dy.Controller CD Doda to save the persons trapped in the flood. CD/VHG volunteers rescued and shifted about 120 persons immediately to safer places and some children and old age persons were shifted to Distt. Headquarter in CD Ambulance. Throughout the night and on the next day i.e. 9-6-2011, rescue operation was carried out by CD volunteers and were engaged to search for dead bodies in the debris lying on the road and a temporary walk path was restored immediately. CD volunteers also lend help in restoring the water and electric supply in the area. Besides, a team of CD/ VHG volunteers along with CD Ambulance was camping at the site for helping the local administration in rescue / restoration of basic facilities.


 

CIVIL DEFENCE/HOMEGUADS & AUX. POLICE J&K ESTABLISHED FIRST AID CUM DISASTER MANAGEMENT CAMPS IN KASHMIR VALLEY DURING AMARNATH JI YATRA DUTY-2011.

During Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra -2011, 08 camps were established enroute in Kashmir valley- four camps from Baltal route i.e. Baltal base camp, Railpathri, Brarimarg & Sangam and four camps from Pahalgam route i.e. Nunwan Base camp, Chandanwari, Pissutop and Sheeshnag. In these camps, total 140 SDRF personnel and 72 VHGs were deployed with modern equipments in order to meet any eventuality during the yatra. The SDRF personnel also provided first aid facility to the needy persons during yatra and also helped old/ ailing pilgrims while climbing up and down during their journey. Meanwhile, Civil Defence camps alongwith Ambulance & rescue equipments were also established at Tourist Reception Centre Chann Arorian, Kathua, Chichi Mata Temple Samba, Ramban for providing first aid, awareness cum guidance to the yatries and kept them ready for facing any eventuality during Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.


 

CIVIL DEFENCE NOWSHERA ORGANISED ONE DAY AWARENESS CAMP AT GOVT. HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL NOWSHERA

On 04-06-2011, Civil Defence Nowshera organised one day awareness camp at Govt. Higher Sec. School Langer, Nowshera. During the camp about 205 students/staff members participated and were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster. On the occasion, Sh.R.P.Damral, Dy.Divisional Warden Nowshera highlighted the activities of Civil Defence and also delivered lecture on topic "Services of Civil Defence".

On 06-06-2011, Dr.Ram Lubhaya, IPS ADGP HG/CD & Aux. Police J&K convened a meeting with Civil Defence wardens/volunteers in the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur. During the meeting, ADGP said that Udhampur is a most significant town. It has important and sensitive installations like Indian Air Force base, Indian Army's Northern Command HQ and Railway Station around besides having a crowded and congested city at the centre that is located at the confluence of two busiest National Highways which are prone to frequent road accidents. Udhampur is considered as a special district at National level, hence stands declared as multi hazardous Civil Defence town. So it is the duty of Civil Defence wardens/volunteers to make every effort to save the human life in all situations whether natural or man- made. A brief discussion on various agenda points were also discussed during the meeting. On the occasion, Sh.Baseer Ahmad Khan, Dy.Commissioner cum Controller Civil Defence Udhampur, Sh.Sham Lal Sharma, IPS DIG HG/CD & Aux. Police Jammu, Sh.Jagjit Kumar, DIG Udhampur Reasi Range, Sh.Surinder Gupta, SSP, Sh.Bodh Raj, Dy.SP Dy.Controller CD Udhampur, Sh.Swatantra Dev Kotwal (Advocate) Dy.Chief Warden CD Udhampur and entire CD warden service /staff were also present.


 

DURING KHEER BHAWANI MELA, CIVIL DEFENCE SRINAGAR ORGANISED AWARENESS CUM FIRST AID CAMP AT TULMULA, GANDERBAL

On the eve of mela Kheer Bhawani, Civil Defence Srinagar organised two days awareness cum first aid camp at Tulmula Ganderbal w.e.f. 08/06/2011 to 09/06/2011 in which Civil Defence wardens/volunteers alongwith staff members participated. During the mela, besides first aid devotees were also served juice and drinking water.


 

CIVIL DEFENCE SRINAGAR IMPART BASIC TRAINING AMONG STUDENTS OF ISLAMIC COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND COMMERCE SRINAGAR.

Civil Defence Srinagar organised five days Civil Defence Basic Training camp at Islamic College of Science and Commerce Srinagar w.e.f. 22-06-2011 to 29-06-2011 in which 91 CD volunteers were imparted Civil Defence Basic Training in various CD skills e.g. first aid, fire fighting, rescue operations etc. A live demonstration by CD instructors on various rescue operations was also exhibited to make the training more effective among the CD volunteers.


 

CIVIL DEFENCE SAMBA ORGANISED AWARENESS CAMP ON THE EVE OF BABA CHAMLYAL MELA AT RAMGARH SAMBA

On the eve of Baba Chamlyal Mela, Civil Defence Samba organized one day awareness cum first aid camp on 23-06-2011 at Ramgarh District Samba under the supervision of Sh.Parveen Singh, Dy.SP Dy.Controller CD Samba. During the camp Civil Defence wardens/volunteers alongwith CD ambulance were deployed in the camp to facilitate the general public. During the Mela, two patient namely Smt.Asha Devi W/O Narayan Dass R/O Satwari Jammu and Smt.Sunita Kumari W/O Dhian Chand R/O Shibu Chak Bishnah were shifted under unconscious condition from Baba Chamlyal to Ramgarh Hospital in Civil Defence Ambulance for further treatment. On the occasion of Baba Sidh Goria Mela at Swankha Vijaypur, two days first aid cum awareness camp w.e.f 10-07-2011 was also organised by the Civil Defence Samba.


 

CIVIL DEFENCE KATHUA ORGANISED ONE DAY AWARENESS CAMP AT COSMIC COLLEGE OF EDUCATION LAKHANPUR

On 23-06-2011, Civil Defence Kathua organised one day awareness camp at Cosmic College of Education Lakhanpur, Kathua. During the camp, students of the college/staff members participated and were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster. On the occasion, Smt.Sunita Shukla, Principal of the college was the Chief Guest. Civil Defence instructors deputed from CTI HG/CD Jammu delivered lectures on first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation. On 23-06-2011, Civil Defence Kathua also organised an awareness camp at Chhan Arorian tourist reception centre to aware yatries during their yatra towards Shri Amar Nath Ji.


 

CIVIL DEFENCE JAMMU IMPARTED AWARENESS CUM CD TRAINING AMONG THE NCC CADETS AT NAGROTA

On 24-06-2011, Civil Defence Jammu organised one day awareness camp at NCC camp Nagrota. During the camp, about 327 NCC cadets participated and were briefed about the skills of Civil Defence like fire-fighting, first-aid, rescue operations during disaster. The service of Civil Defence instructors/wardens was utilized for demonstration of rescue operation and delivering lectures. A live demonstration on rescue operations was also given during the camp by CD instructors deputed from Central Training Institute of HG/CD Jammu


 

ESTABLISHMENT OF CIVIL DEFENCE & DISASTER MANAGEMENT UNIT AT SOPORE SRINAGAR

On 30th of July, 2011, Dr. Ram Lubhaya, IPS ADGP,HG/CD & Aux.Police J&K accompanied by Sh.Mubarak A. Ganai, IPS DIG, HG/CD & Aux. Police Kashmir inaugurated the Civil Defence and Disaster Management unit at Sopore housed in a rented building. While speaking on the occasion, ADGP said that this office is established at Sopore in order to create awareness on Disaster preparedness & to mitigate the effect of disasters incase disaster takes place at Sopore. It is not out of place to mention here that Sopore town remained earthquake prone area and history shows that number of earthquakes occurred which took precious lives in the past. A large number of Civil Defence Wardens / Volunteers, prominent citizens, Police & Civil officers were present on the occasion., Controller Civil Defence cum Dy Commissioner Baramulla, Dy Controller Civil Defence Baramulla, Prof Ab Majid Dar, Chief Warden & Dy Chief Warden Baramulla also spoke on the occasion.


 

CIVIL DEFENCE SAMBA RESCUED TWO PERSONS DURING FLASH FLOOD.

On 14-07-2011, two persons who were trapped in flash flood in river Basantar near village Nud Samba. After receiving information, Civil Defence wardens/volunteers reached the spot and launched rescue operation. Civil Defence volunteers with the help of CD skills and techniques rescued and saved the life of two persons namely Sh.Ashok Kumar S/O Sh.Amar Nath R/O Udhampur and Sh.Farmaan Ali S/O Sh.Kesar Din R/O Udhampur from drowning.


 

NEWS IN BRIEF :

  • CD Jammu : Civil Defence Jammu organised two awareness camps one at Bhagwati Haqiqat Memorial Public School Barnai Jammu on 01-06-2011 and other at S.D.Tara Puri Public High School Gandhi Nagar Jammu on 03-06-2011. During these camps, about 500 students/staff members participated and briefed about the importance and role of Civil Defence during disaster. The services of Civil Defence instructors/ wardens were utilized for effective awareness among the participants.

  • CD Srinagar: On 07-06-2011, Civil Defence Srinagar in collaboration with NGO Hussaini Blood Bank organised a blood donation camp at Govt. Hr. Secondary School Sakadafar Srinagar. On the occasion, Sh.Mubarak Gul, Advisor to Hon’ble Chief Minister J&K was the chief guest. During the camp, Civil Defence Warderns/volunteers and staff members present on the occassion also donated blood.
  • CD Anantnag : On the intervening night of 12th  & 13th June 2011, two private vehicle skidded off the road near Pahalgam due to heavy rain. After receiving the information Civil Defence Anantnag launched rescue operation and shifted the injured persons to nearest Hospital. On 30-07-2011, an another rescue operation was also conducted by CD wardens/volunteers at Lunganbal Pahalgam when a passenger Bus met with a tragic road accident.

  • CD Udhampur : On 17-06-2011, Civil Defence Udhampur organised one day awareness camp at Govt. Higher Secondary School Mougri Uhampur. Besides 350 students, staff and a large number of prominent citizens including Sarpanch and Panches were also present during the camp. Sh.Swatantra Dev Kotwal (Advocate) Dy.Chief Warden and Sh.Sanjeet Kumar (Advocate) Sector Warden CD Udhampur briefed the participants on the topic disaster management, first aid, fire fighting etc.
  • CD Samba : On 25-06-2011 and 27-06-2011, Civil Defence organised two awareness camps at Arazi Samba and Thalora Mandi Samba respectively. During these camps a number of people of the area participated and were briefed about the activities of Civil Defence during disaster. Sh.Dharamvir Singh, Chief Warden also delivered lecture on the topic first aid and snake-bite. On these occasions Civil Defence Training Certificates were also distributed among the CD volunteers who have recently undergone five days CD Basic Training course.
  • CD Kargil : Civil Defence Kargil organised training cum awareness camps at Govt. Hr. Secondary School Kargil and High School Kargil w.e.f. 26-06-2011 to 29-06-2011. During the camps about 150volunteers participated and imparted various Civil Defence skills in first aid, fire fighting etc.
  • CD Jammu : On 26-06-2011, Civil Defence Jammu organised one day awareness camp at Bhartia Yog Sanstha Mubarak Mandi Jammu. About 65 people participated in the camp and were acquainted with Civil Defence activities and its importance during disaster.
  • CD Samba: Civil Defence Samba established first aid cum awareness camp at Chichi Mata Samba during Shri Amar Nath Ji Yatra w.e.f. 29-06-2011 to facilitate the devotees. During the camp, Civil Defence wardens/volunteers participated and also assisted the local Police and administration for smooth conduct of Sh.Amar Nath Ji Yatra. Civil Defence Ambulance alongwith CD rescue team was also kept available on spot to meet any eventuality.

    CD Srinagar: On the eve of Meharaj-l-_Alam (SAW) Civil Defence Srinagar organised assistance cum first aid camp at Holly Shrine Hazratbal Srinagar on 29-06-2011 and on following Friday (01-07-2011). Besides first aid, Kashmiri Kahwa with bread was also provided to the devotees during the camp.
  • CD Sunderbani : On 30-6-2011, Civil Defence Sunderbani organised one day awareness camp at Govt. Higher Secondary School Sunderbani in which about 50 Teachers participated and were acquainted with fire-fighting, first aid, rescue operations during disaster like earthquake etc. Smt. Bimla Pathania, Dy.Divisional Warden Sunderbani also highlighted the role and activities of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • CD Kathua : On receiving information on 02.07.2011, Civil Defence rescue team Kathua along with local Police and fire service Kathua rushed towards river Ravi where two persons namely Balwan Singh S/O Sh.Prem Singh R/O Ghati Kathua and Jodh Singh S/O Sh.Durga Singh R/O Patyari Junglote Kathua were trapped in flash flood. These rescue parties launched rescue operation for two hours and rescued the trapped persons safely.
  • CD Jammu: On 04-07-2011, a dead body of drowned person namely Khem Raj S/O Sh.Ganga Ram R/o Nepal was fished out by Civil Defence rescue team Jammu from River Tawi near Peerkho Jammu.
  • CD Jammu : On 08-07-2011, a meeting of Civil Defence wardens was held in the conference hall of RCDCC Jammu under the Chairmanship of Dr.Ram Lubhaya, IPS Addl.Director General of Police HG/CD & Aux. Police J&K. The main aims & objectives of the meeting were to attend the State Level Workshop on Disaster Preparedness & Mitigation & role of Civil Defence and other organization scheduled to be held on 15th & 16th of July 2011 at SKICC Srinagar. On the occasion Dr.Ram Lubhaya, IPS ADGP assured that all the genuine grievance of warden service will be solved on priority basis. He stressed that Warden Service should come forward with sincerity in serving the society to fulfill aims of Civil Defence. Besides others, Sh.Sham Lal Sharma, IPS DIG HG/CD Jammu, Sh.Jugal Mahajan, Chief Warden, Sh.Paramjeet Kumar, Dy.Chief Warden, Sh.Vinod Malhotra Dy.Chief Warden, Sh. Jia Lal Sharma Divisional Warden were also present on the occasion.
  • CD DODA :- On 09-07-2011 and 25-07-2011, Civil Defence Doda organised two awareness camps first at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyala and Arnora Ghatt Doda in which students of various schools participated. During the camps, participants were acquainted with first aid, fire-fighting, rescue operations during disaster. A live demonstration on rescue operations from tall building and fire-fighting was also demonstrated before the participants. NCC cadets/ staff members also participated in the camp.
  • CTI CD/HG Jammu: 25 days refresher training course was organised at Central Training Institute HG/CD Jammu w.e.f. 12-07-2011 to 05-08-2011 in which 72 Homeguard Volunteers were imparted basic training in different fields of drill & discipline.
  • CD Samba: On 19-07-2011, Civil Defence Samba organised one day awareness camp at Chichi Mata in which about 475 devotees of Sh.Amar Nath Ji Yatra participated and were acquainted with the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster. On the occasion Sh.Sanjay Gupta, Dy.Chief Warden, Sh.Narsingh Dayal, Sh.Raj Singh, Post wardens, Sh.R.K.Sethi, Sh.Raman Singh Sector wardens were also present.
  • CD Jammu: Civil Defence Jammu imparted Civil Defence Basic Training among the volunteers of Red Cross Society Kacchi Chowni Jammu w.e.f. 19-7-2011 to 23-07-2011 in which 61 CD volunteers were trained in various Civil Defence Skills e.g. fire-fighting, first-aid, rescue operation etc. CD instructors from CTI HG/CD Jammu were also deputed for imparting effective training among the participants.
  • CD Poonch: On 26-07-2011, Civil Defence Poonch organised one day awareness camp at Govt. Higher Secondary School Mandi, Poonch in which a number of students participated. During the camp, participants were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • CD Kathua : On 27-07-2011, one day Civil Defence awareness camp was organised at Tourist Reception Centre Chann Arorian Kathua. On the occasion, Dr.A.K.Malhotra, Sector Warden delivered lecture on First aid and also briefed about the importance of Civil Defence during disaster among the devotees of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
  • CD Baramulla : On 27-07-2011, Civil Defence Baramulla organised Blood donate camp at district hospital Baramulla in which Civil Defence wardens/volunteers participated and donate blood.
  • CD Samba: On 28-07-2011, Civil Defence Samba organised one day awareness camp at Dwarkapuri, Samba under the supervision of Sh.Sanjay Gupta Dy.Chief Warden. About 225 devotees participated in the camp and were acquainted with Civil Defence skills/techniques.
  • CD Kathua : On 03-08-2011, Civil Defence Kathua organised one day awareness camp at ward No.10 Kathua. During the camp, about 50 local people / students participated and were briefed by S.I Anil Kumar, Sh.Vidya Sagar, Post Warden and Sh.Ashwasthama, Sector Warden on the topic fire fighting, first aid and rescue operations during disaster.
  • CD Rajouri : Civil Defence Rajouri organised three awareness camps one at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Rajouri, second at Higher Secondary School Happy Home Jawahar Nagar Rajouri and third at Modern Institute of Education Rajouri on 06-08-2011, 08-08-2011 and 09-08-2011 respectively. During the camps, a large number of students participated and were briefed about the importance and role of Civil Defence during disaster. HC Ram Chand, Instructor was also deputed from CTI HG/CD Jammu for delivering lecture and imparting awareness on Civil Defence activities.

    CD Nowshera: On 10-08-2011, an awareness camp on the topic First Aid, Rescue operations, Snake bite etc was organised at Govt. High School Chak Jarallan Nowshera by the Civil Defence Town Nowshera. During the camp, 141 students/ staff members participated and acquainted with Civil Defence activities and techniques during disaster.
  • CD Kathua: On 11-08-2011, a bus on its way from Talwad (Basoli) to Jammu met with an accident near Mala Nalha Manpur. After receiving information, CD rescue team alongwith ambulance reached the spot and started rescue operation. Injured persons were shifted to district hospital in CD ambulance.
  • CD Kathua : On 14th & 15th of August 2011, CD Kathua established first aid cum awareness camp at DPL Kathua in connection with celebration of Independence Day-2011.

    CD Samba: On 24-08-2011, Civil Defence Samba organised one day awareness camp at National High School Samba. Sh.Raman Singh, Sector Warden briefed the students about the first aid and earthquake under the supervision of Sh.Parveen Singh, Dy.SP Dy.Controller CD Samba. Among others Sh.Sanjay Gupta Dy.Chief Warden Samba was also present on the occasion.
  • CD Srinagar : On the eve of Eid ul Fitr, Civil Defence Srinagar utilized the services of 100 Civil Defence Volunteers at Hazratbal Shrine on 31-08-2011. Civil Defence volunteers provided full assistance/cooperation to the participants at Hazratbal shrine.
