ACHIEVEMENTS OF HOME GUARDS/CIVIL DEFENCE & SDRF J&K
(JANUARY 2013 TO NOVEMBER 2013)

 

ENGAGEMENT & TRAININGS OF HOMEGUARD VOLUNTEERS

Directorate of HG/CD & SDRF J&K accorded sanction for Engagement of 831 Homeguards volunteers in J&K from January 2013 to November 2013 and 522 Homeguards volunteers undergone Basic, Advanced, Refresher and capsule Training Courses at Central Training Institutes of Homeguards/Civil Defence at Jammu and Kashmir. Moreover, 301 Homeguards volunteers were deployed on Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2013 at the important places i.e. Baltal, Pahalgam, Sheshnag, Railpathri, Sangam,Nunwan,Chandanwari,Pissutop,Panjtarni, Jammu, Kathu, Udhampur,Chichi Mata,Batote alongwith SDRF personnel & Civil Defence volunteers on rotational basis.

ENROLMENT OF CIVIL DEFENCE WARDENS & VOLUNTEERS

Civil Defence J&K enrolled about 3139 CD wardens and about 12256 CD volunteers in various CD towns of J&K during the year-2013

CIVIL DEFENCE AWARENESS CAMPS

Civil Defence J&K organised about 338 awareness camps in various CD towns of the state in which a large number of general masses were acquainted with the aims, objectives and importance of Civil Defence during disaster management. Besides various lectures on the topic “Civil Defence and Mitigation of Disaster” were also delivered in schools/colleges of J&K districts by CD organisation to create awareness among the youth about Civil Defence.

CD DEMONSTRATIONS / MOCK EXERCISES

Civil Defence J&K conducted 68 CD Demonstrations/Mock exercises in various CD towns in which live demonstrations on Fire-Fighting, First aid, Rescue operations from higher buildings were exhibited. Besides about 50 Rescue operations were also conducted during floods, road accidents etc. by CD rescue teams in various CD Towns of the State.

CIVIL DEFENCE TRAININGS INSIDE/OUTSIDE THE STATE

During the period, 171 training camps were organised in various CD towns of J&K in which about 12256 CD volunteers were trained in various Disaster Management techniques during disaster like Earthquake, Fire-fighting, Flood, First aid, shifting of casualty, Rescue operations from higher buildings with the help of ropes and ladders etc. Besides, 02 Civil Defence Wardens undergone course on Medical operations against WMD for Doctors and 03 Civil Defence Wardens undergone Community Disaster Prepared Training Course at NCDC Nagpur during the year 2013.

FOR THE YEAR 2013

 

DIRECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE J&K HIGHLIGHTED THE ROLE OF CIVIL DEFENCE DURING 6TH CIVIL DEFENCE WARDEN’S CONFERENCE AT JAMMU

Civil Defence is one of the important pillar of a vibrant society where volunteers lend their time and energy for the welfare of people and impress others by their commitment and discipline, expressed by Shri Ashok Prasad, IPS Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, who is also Commandant General Home Guards & Director Civil Defence, J&K while inaugurating 6th Civil Defence Wardens Conference J&K on 28th March 2013 held at Conference Hall of Central Training Institute of HG/CD Jammu.

In his inaugural address, Shri Ashok Prasad, IPS said that Civil Defence (CD) is an important instrument of administration which can be harnessed in hour of distress. He said that constant training and development of skills is imperative to minimise the loss of life and property in any eventuality. He said that the role of CD volunteers need to be recognized by the society as it is the zeal and commitment of the volunteers, which many times helped the civil administration to face any catastrophic eventuality besides to take preventive measures.

The DGP stressed that civil community need to be prepared and kept alert in order to form the security surveillance by utilizing the services of CD personnel for crime control and disaster management. He emphasized for preparedness and extending help to those who are in acute distress during disasters to save human lives with courage and confidence.
Deliberating on the objectives of the One Day Conference, Shri Ashok Prasad, IPS said that during the conference, important functionaries of CD from across the state would discuss important issues and further requirements to make the Organization more vibrant. He said that the conference would provide platform to the participants to deliberate on geophysical features of the State and its vulnerability to disasters, besides pre-hospital management of victims of disasters and fire fighting measures.

Speaking about the achievements, the DGP said that the Organization has extended its activities from town centric to rural areas. Enrolment of wardens and volunteers has been taken up in the rural areas also, while 23,535 CD volunteers were trained in basic skills like fire fighting, first aid and rescue. Besides 174 awareness camps were organized during the past one year and 47 rescue operations were conducted at different places in the state, he added.

Shri Prasad stressed upon the organizers and participants to come up with their valuable suggestions and proposals which could help in strengthening the Civil Defence Organization in the State. He said that every support will be provided to the Organization to make it more effective and people friendly.

Earlier, in his welcome address Shri Yoginder Kaul, IPS the then Inspector General of Police Homeguards/Civil Defence and SDRF, said that the conference would provide opportunity to sit together and discuss the things of concern and plan future strategies. He said that it would also inculcate healthy traditions and strengthen our activities. He further said that the Organization has been conducting training courses to acquaint the volunteers about the latest techniques of disaster management and fire fighting and such training programmes would continue in future to inculcate discipline and courage among the volunteers.

He said that during the year 2012 a group of 37 volunteers of CD from across the State was sent for Bharat Darshan under CAP in order to have a firsthand exposure outside the State and interact with the CD volunteers of other Sates of the country. He thanked the government and the DGP for their active support and encouragement to CD Organization which has helped its scope to other activities.

During the conference, several speakers gave series of lectures on the role of Civil Defence in times of calamities. In the day long Conference, detailed question answer session was held in which several points regarding improvements in the Organization were raised and discussed. The speakers who deliberated on different topics during the Conference included Prof. GM Bhat of Jammu University, Dr. Ranbushan from Health Services and Shri R.K Raina from Fire & Emergency Services. The day long proceedings were summarized up by Shri Vikas Gupta,SP Div. Comdt, Hgds Jammu.

AWARENESS ON IMPLEMENTATION OF URBAN RISK REDUCTION IN THE CAPITAL CITY OF JAMMU

On 05-01-2013 one-day awareness camp was organised by Civil Defence Jammu on the topic "Implementation of Urban Risk Reduction in the Capital City of Jammu". Sh. Yoginder Kaul, IPS the then Inspector General of Police Homeguards / Civil Defence & SDRF, J&K was the chief guest and Sh.Sham Lal Sharma, IPS, Dy Inspector General of Police Homeguards / Civil Defence & SDRF, Jammu was guest of honour, besides Sh.Ghulam Sarwar Chouhan, SSP, the then Commandant SDRF 2nd Bn, Jammu, Sh.Ranbir Singh Manhas, SP, Staff Officer to ADGP, Homeguards / Civil Defence & SDRF, J&K, were also present during the function. Sh.Jugal Mahajan, Chief Warden CD Town, Jammu and others Civil Defence Wardens were also present in the function.

No.1) delivered their valuable lectures on the topic "Implementation of Urban Risk Reduction in the Capital City of Jammu”.

Speaking on the occasion Sh.Yoginder Kaul, IPS the then Inspector General of Police Homeguards / Civil Defence & SDRF, J&K appreciated the role of Civil Defence Jammu for their performance during the year 2012 and stressed the need for organising high level Civil Defence demonstration in the old Jammu city. Sh.Sham Lal Sharma, IPS, Dy Inspector General of Police Homeguards / Civil Defence & SDRF, Jammu also highlighted the role of Civil Defence during natural / man-made disasters. He also stressed the need of conducting awareness programmes in schools / colleges & rural areas. A large number of police officers / officials, Civil Defence Wardens /Volunteers & school children witnessed the function. The said function was organised on the guidelines of Sh.Sanjeev Verma, IAS, Dy Commissioner-cum-Controller Civil Defence, Jammu. The programme was conducted under the close supervision of Sh.Dushyant Sharma, Dy Controller Civil Defence, Jammu. Ms.Tanima Dutta winner of the debate competition compared the whole programme which was highly appreciated.

At the end of the function Sh.Jugal Mahajan, Chief Warden CD Town Jammu thanked the Chief Guest and all officers / Civil Defence Wardens / Volunteers and others for attending the function.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE UDHAMPUR ORGANISED AWARENESS CAMP ON DISASTER MANAGEMENT AT NHPC JYOTIPURAM IN DISTRICT REASI

To sensitise the functionaries of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) regarding the potential dangers of hydro potentialities specially in mountainous region which are prone to natural disaster, the Civil Defence Organisation emphasized upon the tactics and mechanism to be adhered to for minimising the loss of life and property during a one day awareness camp on Disaster Management and Earthquakes in the premises of NHPC, Jyotipuram in district Reasi on 12-02-2013.

The camp was organised by the Civil Defence Organisation, Udhampur under the guidance of Sh.Yoginder Kaul, IPS the then IGP, Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF J&K, Deputy Controller, Civil Defence. Dy SP Bodh Raj, General Manager, NHPC, Sh.Chander Mohan, Chief Engineer NHPC, Sh.Rajeev Jerth, officers and staff members of the corporation were present on the occasion. Deputy Controller, Civil Defence. Sh.Bodh Raj,Dy.SP in his welcome address gave a detailed account of the working of the organisation. He said that main motive behind for organizing the awareness camp in the Corporation was to make the functionaries aware to deal with any situation in case of disaster. While appreciating the role of Civil Defence Organisation, the General Manager NHPC urged upon the Civil Defence Organisation to hold such valuable awareness camps in near future also. Master Trainers Sh.Kuldeep Singh and Sh.Vikas Sharma delivered lectures regarding preventive measure to be taken before, during and after the disaster. Deputy Chief Warden, Advocate Swatantar Dev Kotwal also delivered lecture on various facets of Civil Defence and also conducted the proceedings of the programme.


 

 

SEVEN DAY’S BHARAT DARSHAN TOUR PROGRAMME FLAGGED OFF

A 07 day’s tour Programme of Bharat Darshan sanctioned by Police Headquarter J&K Jammu under Civic Action Programme for 37 Civil Defence volunteers/wardens of J&K (17 from Kashmir Valley and 20 from Jammu) and 04 officers/officials of HG/CD & SDRF J&K for Jammu-Chandigarh-Jaipur-Ajmer-Delhi was flagged off on 08.03.2013 by Sh. Yoginder Kaul, IPS, the then Inspector General of Police, HG/CD & SDRF J&K at SDRF 2nd Bn. HQrs. Gandhi Nagar Jammu.

ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON CIVIL DEFENCE, DISASTER MITIGATION, MANMADE / NATURAL DISASTER CONDUCTED AT SDRF 2ND BN. JAMMU

An impressive one day workshop on Civil Defence, Disaster Mitigation, Manmade/Natural Disaster was held at SDRF 2nd Bn. Jammu on 26-03-2013 was inaugurated by Sh.Yoginder Kaul, IPS the then IGP HG/CD & SDRF J&K. Sh. Gh. Sarwar Chauhan, SSP the then Commandant SDRF 2nd Bn. Jammu and Dy.SP S.K. Bakshi (Co-ordinator) presented the brief resume and other details of the work shop after welcoming the Chief Guest and other participants. A number of Guest lecturers namely Dr.S.D. Choudhary Dy. SP, Sh. R. K. Raina Divisional Fire Officer, Dr. Rajinder Thappa Dy. Divisional Warden, Sh. Paramjeet Kumar Dy. Chief Warden, and Sh. Shashi Kohli Dy. Divisional Warden delivered valuable lectures and were also present during the closing ceremony. Besides, mementos were also presented to the guest lecturers etc. The main purpose to conduct this workshop was to prepare the Jawans of the recently declared STATE DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE to meet any eventuality whether Natural or man-made disaster in a better and technical way. Sh. Sham Lal Sharma IPS, DIG HG/CD & SDRF Jammu stressed upon to conduct more and more vocational and regular trainings of the Jawans viz-viz the physical endurance training so that at the time of need they are able to meet the challenges to save the life and property of the people.


 

 

06 DAY’S COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING SERVICE (COPS) COURSE UNDER PILOT PROJECT SCHEME CONDUCTED AT JAMMU AND UDHAMPUR W.E.F. 11/2/2013 TO 16/2/2013.

CD Jammu: 06 day’s Community Oriented Policing Service (COPS) course under pilot project scheme was started at CTI, Homeguards / Civil Defence, Jammu in which 20 Civil Defence Wardens / Volunteers participated. The main aim of the course was to involve the civil community with police for handling internal security and law & order situations. Sh.Yoginder Kaul,IPS the then Inspector General of Police, Homeguards / Civil Defence & SDRF J&K who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, highlighted the role of Civil Defence. Sh.Sham Lal Sharma,IPS Dy .Inspector General of Police, HG/CD & SDRF Jammu also highlighted the Civil Defence activities & need for increasing the strength of Civil Defence Volunteers in the CD Town, Jammu. Among other police officers & Civil Defence Wardens who were present during the occasion include Sh.Gh. Sarwar Chouhan, SSP the then Commandant SDRF 2nd Bn, Jammu, Sh.Vikas Gupta, SP Divisional Commandant Homeguards Jammu. At the inauguration function Sh.Dushyant Sharma, Dy Controller Civil Defence, Jammu briefed the Chief Guest, senior police officers and Civil Defence Wardens for the conduct of 06 Day’s Community Oriented Policing Service (COPS) course under pilot project scheme at CTI, Homeguards / Civil Defence, Jammu.

He said basic training is very useful for the volunteers as well as the society as a whole to minimize the damages, caused to the human life and properties during any type of disasters.

CD Udhampur: Stressing for greater need to carry out Civil Defence activities in rural areas of the district, the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Sh.P.K Pole who is also the then Controller of Civil Defence exhorted upon the CD volunteers to educate the common masses in their respective areas about the activities of the organisation for effective disaster management during 06 Day’s Community Oriented Policing Service (COPS) course under pilot project scheme which was started at Udhampur.

Addressing the CD functionaries in general and volunteers in particular, he said that it is the need of the hour to aware the general masses about the natural and manmade disaster and steps required to be taken for their timely management. He exhorted upon the volunteers regarding the selfless role of Civil Defence Organisation in educating the general masses about diverse issues of pubic interests, disaster management and community policing, besides mobilising the citizens in helping civil administration in a big way in the event of any natural or manmade disasters. Earlier, Deputy Controller, Civil Defence, Udhampur, Dy SP Bodh Raj gave brief resume of the Pilot Project Scheme and Civil Defence activities in urban and rural areas of district Udhampur. He apprised that 40 districts of the country have been selected by the Government of India (GOI) for imparting COPS training programme under Pilot Project Scheme and Jammu and Udhampur districts of J and K State are also among those. Chief Warden, Sh.Surinder Khajuria presented vote of thanks during the occasion. Beside others, the function was attended by Deputy Chief Warden Advocate Swatantra Dev Kotwal, Civil Defence Wardens, Master Trainers, staff and volunteers.


 

 

DISASTER PREPAREDNESS SYMPOSIUM HELD AT GANDERBAL BY CIVIL DEFENCE SRINAGAR

Disaster Preparedness training and intra school symposium was organized by Civil Defence Srinagar on 30-3-2013 at New Dreamland Educational Institute Ganderbal. More than 150 students participated in the programme and Ms.Anisa Hamid of class 8th stood first, Miss.Shah Zarafshan of class 9th stood second and Master Umar Farooq of class 9th stood third. Four consolation prizes were also distributed amongst Gausia Fayaz (Class 8th), Ms.Mansha Khursheed (Class 9th), Master Shahrukh Ahad (8th) and Master Faisal Qadir (8th). The programme was inaugurated by Sh.Mehraj-Ud-din Shah, SP Commandant SDRF 1st Bn. Srinagar.


 

 

DIVISIONAL COMMANDANT HOMEGUARDS JAMMU CONDUCTED A DURBAR OF VOLUNTEERS OF HOMEGUARD AT CTI HG/CD JAMMU

On 11-07-2013, Sh.Vikas Gupta, SP Divisional Commandant Homeguards Jammu conducted a Durbar of Volunteer Homeguards at CTI HG/CD Jammu. The Durbar was attended by 36 VHGs who have come from different districts of Jammu Province. During the durbar, it was emphasized to them that it is privilege for them to undergo various courses so that they can assist the Police and the people during any calamity. VHGs were also asked to encourage the people of their areas to come forward for joining Homeguard for voluntary service to nation. Moreover, on 31-7-2013, Sh.Vikas Gupta, SP Divisional Commandant Homeguards Jammu also delivered lecture on the topic ‘Role of Homeguard volunteers in Disaster Management. during 30 days Advance training course and also directed instructors to impart proper training and inculcate discipline among the volunteers. During the period, 01-04-2013 to 17-07-2013, 94 Homeguard volunteers were trained in 45 days Basic Training and 30 days Advance training courses at Central Training Institute of HG/CD Jammu.


 

 

STATE DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE CONDUCTED RESCUE OPERATION ALONGWITH LOCAL POLICE DURING COLLAPSE OF UNDER CONSTRUCTION BUILDING

Two laborers were killed and eight others injured when roof-top of an under construction portion of double storied banquet hall ‘Kangra Fort’ collapsed in Upper Barnai area, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Domana on 29-07-2013. Some labourers were engaged in construction of additional portion of “Kangra Fort” in Upper Barnai area when the roof-top of building suddenly collapsed. In the incident, the labourers engaged in the construction work got trapped under the debris. Other labourers came to rescue them but nine of them got trapped in debris badly. On getting information, State Disaster Response Force Jammu rushed to the spot and alongwith local police started rescue operation. During the rescue operation, SDRF team evacuated two labourers by penetrating the collapsed roof structure with the help of SDRF rescue equipments. All the labourers were evacuated and shifted in Civil Defence Ambulance to Govt. Medical College Bakshi Nagar Jammu for further treatment where doctors declared two labourers as brought dead. The work done by the SDRF team was highly appreciated by the civil administration and general masses who witnessed the rescue operation.


 

 

STATE DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE AND CIVIL DEFENCE J&K CONDUCTED RESCUE OPERATION AND AWARENESS CAMPS AT DODA DURING EARTHQUAKE

On 01-05-2013, a massive Earthquake hit district Doda. Quick action was taken by the Civil Defence Organization Doda and deputed rescue vehicle alongwith SDRF team/ Civil Defence wardens & volunteers towards Bhaderwah and Gandoh where heavy damages were reported. The rescue team was headed by the Dy.Commissioner-cum-Controller Civil Defence Doda and SP Doda. All the wardens/volunteers of district Doda were kept in high alert and advised to take immediate action in their respective jurisdictions. Civil Defence wardens / volunteers of Bhaderwah have rescued some injured students of Govt. Hr. Sec. School (Girls) Bhaderwah from the damaged school building. Also some injured of Gandoh area were rescued by the CD wardens and shifted them to Govt. Hospital Gandoh.

On the same day a team of 15 SDRF personnel were deployed from SDRF 2nd Bn. Jammu under the orders of Smt.D.R.Doley Barman, IPS ADGP HG/CD & SDRF J&K for rescue operation. On 02-5-2013, two SDRF rescue teams were detailed and moved towards Bhaderwah at early morning for search and rescue operation under the supervision of SP Doda and Area Commander Hgds cum Dy.Controller CD Doda Sh.Ajay Kumar Dubey, who personally monitored the rescue operation. Many buildings were damaged and life and property of locals was saved by the rescue teams. During the visit of Hon’ble Union Health Minister Sh.Gh.Nabi Azad on 04-05-2013 and Hon’ble Chief Minister Sh.Omer Abdulla on 09-05-2013, the rescue team of SDRF and Civil Defence were present in Bhaderwah for conducting rescue operations.

During the period upto 15/5/2013, earthquake of different Rector Scales were observed in the area and people spent nights outside their houses. The rescue teams of SDRF/Civil Defence helped the locals for pitching tents and also briefed the people about the safety measure to be taken. Moreover, Civil Defence awareness camps were organized in the district about Do’s and Don’ts during Earthquake. Civil Defence literatures/pamphlets were distributed among the people for general awareness.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE SRINAGAR ORGANISED BLOOD DONATION CAMP

Civil Defence Srinagar in collaboration with National Society for Human Welfare, AIDS Control Society Social Welefare Board, CEEO and Health Services Kashmir organized blood donation camp at Hussaini Chowk Gund Hassibhat Srinagar on 14-6-2013. Sh.Gulam Jeelani Zargar Astt. Commissioner Revenue Srinagar inaugurated the Blood Donation camp and said in his speech that these organizations are playing a vital role in the community by organizing Blood donation camps, Medical or other awareness camps. He encouraged the volunteers/ Blood donors by awarding them certificates. Mr.Rahi Riyaz Ahmed, General Secretary National Society in his welcome address said that WBDD is also a day to celebrate and thank those people throughout the world who donate Blood. Dozens of volunteers donated Blood on the occasion. Moreover, Aircel Telecom Company in association with Civil Defence Srinagar facilitated by Governement Medical College, L.D.Hospital Srinagar also organized Blood donation camp on 23-06-2013. During the camp, Aircel’s employees donated blood. Among others, Sh.Aamir Ali, Dy.Chief Warden CD Srinagar, Sh.B.K.Kaul Sales Head Aircel, Dr.Mushtaq Ahmed Rather Medical Supdt. were also present on the occasion.


 

 

CIVIL DEEFNCE REVIEW ARRANGEMENTS FOR SHRI AMAR NATH JI YATRA-2013

A meeting of Civil Defence Wardens was held under the chairmanship of Sh.Dushyant Sharma, Dy.Controller CD Jammu in the conference hall of RCDCC Jammu on 24-6-2013. The main aim of the meeting was to review the arrangements for Shri Amar Nath Ji Yatra- 2013 which was commencing w.e.f. 28-6-2013. A large number of Civil Defence wardens including Sh.Jugal Mahajan, Chief Warden Jammu, Sh.Paramjit Kumar, Dy.Chief Wardens, Sh.Jia Lal Sharma, Divisional Warden, Sh.K.K.Verma, Sh.R.Vijay Magotra, Smt. Santosh Magotra, Smt.Raj Bakshi, Dy.Divisional wardens were present on the occasion. The wardens were asked to assist the local police in order to make the Amarnath Yatra more successful. It was decided that the services of CD wardens/volunteers shall also be utilized at different places like Railway Station, Bus Stand, Airport & Yatri Bhawan Bhagwati Nagar Jammu etc. The CD wardens/volunteers were also directed to wear CD jackets during their duty.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE SRINAGAR IMPARTED CD BASIC TRAINING AMONG STUDENTS OF GOVERNMENT COLLEGE FOR WOMEN AT M.A. ROAD, SRINAGAR

Civil Defence Srinagar organized 05 day’s disaster preparedness training programme at Government College for Women M.A. Road, Srinagar w.e.f. 24-06-2013 to 27-6-2013. The training programme was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Shaheeen Altaf, Principal. Speaking on the occasion she gave stress that the students should take keen interest in CD training. She appreciated Civil Defence and NSS unit of the College for the efforts put in to organize the programme. About 71 students, besides many faculty members and staff attended the training. Sh.Aamir Ali, Dy. Chief Warden CD Srinagar implored on the students to learn life saving skills. He said that the training would comprise of fire fighting, first aid as well as search and rescue techniques, so that the students are better prepared to respond in case of any emergency or disaster. CD trainers Sh.Aijaz Ahmed, Syed Abid and Sh.Parvez Ahmed led by ASI (M) Shabir Ahmed Khan and SI Abdul Gani were deputed by Commandant SDRF 1st Bn. Sh.Mehraj Ahmed Shah,SP on the instructions of Addl. DGP, Civil Defence Smt. D.R. Dolly Barman, IPS. Dr. Nighat Ara, Co-ordinator of NSS presented vote of thanks.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE KARGIL ORGANIZED CIVIL DEFENCE AWARENESS PROGRAMME

On 24-6-2013, Civil Defence Oganisation Kargil organized an awareness programme at Higher Secondary School Shargole on the eve of World NO Tobacco Day. A large number of students, teachers, principal of the school, CD wardens, volunteers, participated in this programme.

The Chief Guest Dy. Controller Civil Defence Kargil (Dy.SP DAR) Sh.Stanzin Losal, through a video on 2010 Ladakh floods during which at least 255 people are reported to have died, six of whom were foreign tourists, after cloudburst and heavy overnight rains triggered flash floods, mudslides. He gave a presentation on importance of enrolling youths as Civil Defence volunteers in multi hazards Kargil District. Guest of Honour Dr. Abass BMO Shargool spoke on social aspect of Tobacco Abuse in youth and on the occasion and said that every year i.e. on 31 May, WHO and partners mark World NO Tobacco Day, highlighting the health risks associated with tobacco use and advocating for effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption. Tobacco kills nearly six million people each year, of which more than 600 000 are non-smokers dying from breathing second-hand smoke. The theme of this year’s campaign is "Ban tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship”. On this occasion Dr. Anayat Mir Chief Warden Civil Defence/ Medical officer Distt. Hospital Kargil while presenting a detailed presentation on tobacco abuse said youths are most vulnerable to drug abuse (a man-made disaster).


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE KULGAM IMPARTED CD TRAINING AMONG STUDENTS

Five days CD training camp was organised by Civil Defence Unit Kulgam at ITI Kulgam w.e.f. 12-7-2013 to 18-7-2013. During the camp about 125 students/staff members participated and were imparted Civil Defence training in first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation by CD/SDRF instructors. Moreover, another 05 days CD training camp were also organized by CD unit Kulgam at Higher Secondary School Devsar Kulgam w.e.f. 31-7-2013 in which about 100 students participated and were imparted Civil Defence training in disaster mitigation and management by the CD experts.

More than 50 students and staff members of the College were imparted training in First Aid, Fire Fighting, Search and Rescue. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Additional Director General of Police, Civil Defence, Home Guards and SDRF Smt. D.R. Dolley Barman.IPS and Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr Farooq Ahmed Lone, presided over the function. The programme was also attended by Deputy Director Fire & Emergency Services Anantnag Sh. Abdul Rehman Wani, Dy. The training was conducted by Dr. IPS Bali for First Aid, Sh.Abdul Gaffar for Search and Rescue, Sh.Ghulam Mohammed Itoo for Fire fighting, Sh.Sartaj Parray for gas safety device and also Shoukat Gas Agency, authorised dealers of Hindustan Petroleum Gas for safe use of LPG. Speaking on the occasion Mrs. D.R.Dolley Barman said that Civil Defence is committed to provide life saving skills to members of the community and that Civil Defence has embarked ambitious programme to impart such trainings at all educational institutions throughout the State. She hoped that the volunteers that undergo the training would provide active support to the Civil administration in the event of any disaster. DC Anantnag Dr Farooq Ahmed Lone appreciated Civil Defence for having organised the training and urged that that similar trainings should be held at all Tehsil and Block headquarters so that a team of trained first responders is created to tackle any disaster. He offered to provide financial support out of SDRF and Red Cross funds for conducting such trainings. Certificates of participation were distributed amongst the trainees. Later, a mock drill exercise was held in which the students participated actively.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE AWARENESS CAMP ORGANIZED TO AWARE YOUTH ABOUT ILL EFFECTS OF DRUG, NARCOTICS AND SMOKING

The J&K Civil Defence in collaboration with J&K Voluntary Health Association, SMC, Irrigation & Flood Control, Department of Excise and Taxation, organised an awareness camp in Pandrathan Srinagar on 25-8-2013, to create awareness about the ill effects of drugs and other narcotics on human lives and in order to launch a drive to destroy wild cannabis growing along river banks.

Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah was the Chief Guest on the occasion, while as Dr G.N.Qasba Commissioner SMC, Sh.Mubarak Ahmed Ganai, IPS DIG HG/CD & SDRF Srinagar renowned Physician Dr. Prof GQ Allaqaband, Sh.Mehraj Ahmed Shah,SP Commandant SDRF 1st Bn, A.M.Mir (IAS Retd) Executive Director J&K VHA were Guests of honour and they spoke on the occasion.

Addressing the speakers DIG HG/CD & SDRF Kashmir dwelt in details about the ill effects of drugs and cannabis on human lives. He exhorted upon the youth to keep away from drugs, narcotics, tobacco and other tobacco products which are fatal and cause many life threatening diseases. DC Srinagar said the drug abuse has ruined many lives. He further said that that the district administration has already banned use of intoxicants and tobacco products in city. He appreciated NGOs like JKVHA for support provided to District Administration to curb this menace and make efforts to eradicate it from grass root level. Commissioner SMC said that no religion allows use of drug and intoxicants and we must inculcate moral values in our children to make them better citizens of tomorrow.

Local youths along with hundreds of Students of various educational institutions of Pandrathan, Athwajan and Pantha Chowk were present on the occasion. Later, the youth and school children alongwith Civil Defence volunteers jointly removed Cannabis (bungh) plants from the banks of Jehlum.

CIVIL DEFENCE J&K ORGANISED T-20 CRICKET TOURNAMENT AT SRINAGAR

The final match of T-20 Cricket tournament organised by Civil Defence Srinagar was played on 05-9-2013 at Hazratbal, between CD Srinagar and KU, which was won by University of Kashmir by 7 wickets. The event had been organised by CD Srinagar to boost sports activities in Valley. 28 Cricket teams from Srinagar, Anantnag, Baramulla, Pulwama and Budgam districts participated in the tournament. Sh.Yoginder Kaul,IPS Inspector General of Police being Chief Guest distributed prizes and trophies amongst the participant. Present on the occasion were Sh.Mehraj Ahmed Shah,SP Commandant SDRF 1st Bn, Sh.R.S. Manhas S.O to ADGP, Sh.Showkat Iqbal SP, Sh.Abdul Qayoom, Supdt of Police Hazratbal, Sh.Aamir Ali, Deputy Chief Warden and Sh.Mauzam Bakshi, Deputy Chief Warden, Senior faculty members of University of Kashmir and prominent local citizens. CIVIL DEFENCE WARDENS/ VOLUNTEERS LAUNCHED RESCUE OPERATION DURING ROAD ACCIDENT AT MANIGAM

On 24-10-2013, an auto bearing registration number JK01L-5637 collided with a Bus No: JK01B-4816 near Manigam, on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway. The impact was so severe that the auto split into two parts. The auto driver Sh.Ghulam Mohammed Sheikh S/o Wali Mohammed Sheikh, suffered injuries and was rescued by Civil Defence Volunteers headed by Sh.Mohammed Shafi Warden, and admitted the injured in the local PHC. The driver was later referred to SKIMS hospital. Smt. D.R. Doley Barman,IPS ADGP HG/CD & SDRF J&K has appreciated the swift action exhibited by CD volunteers in saving the life of the injured.


 

 

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE WAS OBSEVED AT SRINAGAR

Kashmir Peace Network, a voluntary organisation in collaboration with Civil Defence organised a function to observe the International Day of Peace on 28-09-2013. UN General Assembly has devoted this day to focus on peace and encourage humanity to work in cooperation towards this goal. The theme of this year was “Education for Peace”.

Students of various schools was organised and they were taken by boats to the “Samad’s Island of Peace” located in Nigeen lake. An awareness programme was organised for the children and they sensitised about the importance of Peace.

Despite rain and sunday, hundreds of Civil Defence Volunteers, respectables from community, Youth, Students and Special Children with disabilities, participated in the rally. The rally was organised by Civil Defence, Srinagar and the theme was “Living with Disasters and Disabilities”.   • CD Kulgam : Civil Defence Kulgam organised two camps of 05 day’s CD basic training one at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Devsar w.e.f 31-07-2013 to 05-08-2013 and another at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Ashmuji Kulgam w.e.f 19-07-2013 to 23-08-2013. During these camps, about 188 students/staff members participated and were trained in fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operations during disasters by CD/SDRF instructors.
  • CD Nowshera: Civil Defence Town Nowshera organised five day’s CD Basic training camp at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Boys Nowshera w.e.f 01-8-2013 to 05-8-2013. During the training 85 students were imparted Civil Defence training in first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation during disasters by the CD/SDRF instructors.
  • CD Kathua: One day CD awareness camp was organised by CD Kathua on 03-08-2013 at D.A.V Hr. Sec School Arya Samaj Mandir Kathua in which 125 students and staff members participated. Moreover, on 30-08-2013 one day Civil Defence awareness camp was also organised at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Boys Kathua on topic First Aid and Fire Fighting in which 230 students alongwith staff participated.
  • CD Leh : On 03-08-2013 Civil Defence Leh organised one day Disaster Management awareness cum training camp at Kendriya Vidyalay School Leh. During the camp, more than 200 students participated and were briefed about the role of Civil Defence during Disaster Management.
  • CD Doda: Civil Defence Doda organised one day Civil Defence awareness camp at Sah Mohalla Doda on 03-08-2013, in which about 50 civilians participated and were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disasters. Moreover, 05 day’s CD basic training camp was also organised at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Bharat Doda w.e.f 22-08-2013 to 27-08-2013. During the training camp, 60 students participated and were imparted CD training in first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation by the CD instructors and SDRF personnel.
  • CD Anantnag : Civil Defence Anantnag organised 05 days CD basic training camp at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Ashmuqam w.e.f 03-08-2013 to 07-08-2013 in which 100 students participated and were trained in Disaster Management. Moreover, another Civil Defence 05 day’s training camp was organised at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Brakpora w.e.f. 19-08-2013 to 23-08-2013 in which 150 students participated and were trained by CD /SDRF instructors in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operation during disaster.
  • CD Kathua: During flash flood in River Ujh, Civil Defence Kathua conducted various rescue operations and on 03-8-2013 with the help of BSF and NDRF, rescued 35 male/female of Gujjar community trapped in flash flood. Moreover, on 16-08-2013 conducted a rescue operation in river Ujh and rescued 03 persons trapped in flash flood water, while they were collecting fire-wood in the Ujh River.
  • CD RAJOURI : Civil Defence Rajouri conducted Flood rescue operation at Darhali Nallah, Khandly River and Bela Colony Rajouri w.e.f 05-8-2013 to 07-08-2013. During the rescue operation, one lady and two gents were rescued from their houses as the water entered their houses. The people were made aware and advised to remain away from the river.
  • CD Kathua: Civil Defence Kathua organised two 05 day’s CD basic training camps one at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Chakra Hiranagar w.e.f 07-08-2013 and another at Spring Dales English School Changra Kathua w.e.f 23-08-2013 to 29-08-2013. During these camps about 112 students/staff members participated and were imparted Civil Defence training in first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation during disasters by the CD/SDRF instructors.
  • CD Jammu: Civil Defence Jammu organised one day Civil Defence awareness camp at Army School Domana on 07-08-2013, in which 110 students and staff participated and were briefed about role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster. Moreover, 05 day CD basic training camp was also organised at Dogra Higher Sec. School Shastri Nagar Jammu w.e.f 26-08-2013 to 31-08-2013. During the training camp, 45 students participated and were imparted CD training in first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation by the CD instructors and SDRF personnel.
  • CD Sunderbani : On 07-8-2013, One day awareness camp was organised by CD Town Sunderbani at Army Ground Sunderbani in collaboration of Budha Amarnath Yatra Samiti Sunderbani. During the camp, about 150 people participated and Smt.Bimla Pathania, Dy.Div. Warden delivered lecture cum awareness about earthquake, fire-fighting, rescue operations among the participants.
  • CD Nowshera : On 15-08-2013, Civil Defence wardens/volunteers were deployed at Independence day parade ground for assisting local police during celebration of Independence day under the supervision of Sh.R.P.Damral, Dy.Divisional Warden Nowshera. Moreover, on 27-8-2013, CD Nowshera also conducted a meeting of CD wardens to gear up the Civil Defence activities in the town.

    CD Srinagar : Civil Defence Srinagar organised Dal Cross Rally at Nehru Park on August 13th, 17th and 21st of 2013. During the rally a large number of CD volunteers/civilians participated. Moreover, 50 CD wardens/volunteers performed SANJAY DUTY-2013 during the month of August at TRC/ Dalgate/ Nehru Park.
  • CD SAMBA: Civil Defence Samba organized five day’s Civil Defence training camp at Gupwal/Salmari Samba w.e.f. 17-8-2013 to 23-8-2013 under the supervision of Dy.SP Sh.Sudershan Mehta, I/C Dy.Controller CD Samba. During the camp, about 101 people were imparted CD Basic training in First aid, fire-fighting, Rescue and Disaster Management by the SDRF/CD instructors. Moreover, another CD Basic Training camp was also organized at Sangwal Samba w.e.f. 26-8-2013 to 31-8-2013 in which about 100 CD volunteers were trained in Civil Defence and SDRF skills.
  • CD Poonch : On 20-08-2013 Civil Defence alongwith SDRF team Poonch conducted rescue operation at Sher-a-Kashmir Bridge Poonch and recovered dead body of a person namely Sh.Mohd. Qayoom R/O Banpat Poonch . Moreover, Civil Defence Poonch also organsied one day awareness camp at Govt. High School Gali Kalaban on 20-08-2013 in which 100 students participated who were made aware about the disaster and role of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • CD Budgam: Civil Defence Budgam conducted two 05 day’s CD basic training camp one at Govt. Hr. Sec. School SK Pora w.e.f 22-08-2013 to 27-08-2013 and another at Govt. High School Wahab Pora w.e.f 29-08-2013 to 03-09-2013. During the camps about 327 students/staff members participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations during disaster.
  • CD Baramulla : On 22-08-2013 Civil Defence Baramulla organised one day civil Defence awareness camp at St. Joseph Hr. Sec. School Baramulla in which 150 students participated and were briefed about role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster. Moreover, Civil Defence Baramulla also organised 05 day’s CD basic training camp at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Kreeri w.e.f 26-08-2013 to 30-08-2013.
  • CD Samba: on 24-8-2013, One day awareness camp was organized at Madoon camp Samba by CD Town Samba. During the camp, a large number of civilians participated and briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disasters. Moreover, Civil Defence training cheques were also distributed among the CD volunteers who have undergone Civil Defence Basic Training course.
  • CD Poonch : Civil Defence Poonch organized 05 day’s CD basic training camp at Govt. Higher Secondary School Gursai, Tehsil Mendhar w.e.f 26-8-2013 to 31-8-2013 in which 70 student were trained in Civil Defence skills fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation. Moreover, on 03-08-2013, one day CD awareness camp was organised at Govt. High School Sursai Sar Mendhar in which 100 students participated and were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disasters.
  • CD Akhnoor : On 26-8-2013, Civil Defence Town Akhnoor organised one day awareness camp at St.Joseph Hospital Akhnoor. During the camp about 45 people participated and were made aware about First Aid, Fire-fighting and Rescue operation.
  • CD Srinagar : On the instructions of Smt. D.R. Doley Barman, IPS ADGP HG/CD & SDRF J&K, a five day’s disaster preparedness programme was organised at Government Higher Secondary School Khonmoh, Srinagar w.e.f. 26-8-2013 where more than 100 students participated. The students shown keen interest in the training which was organised under the overall guidance of Sh.M. A. Ganai, DIG HG/CD & SDRF Kashmir, Sh.Mehraj Ahmed Shah, SP Commandant SDRF 1st Bn Srinagar and Sh.Omar Khlil Nedou Chief Warden CD Srinagar, Sh.Aamir Ali and Sh.Mauzam Bakshi Deputy Chief Wardens Srinagar.
  • CD Udhampur: On 27-8-2013, One day awareness camp was organised by CD Udhampur at Dream India Public Hr. Sec. School Manwal. During the camp about 400 students/staff members participated and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster by the SDRF/CD instructors. Moreover, another one day awareness camp was also conducted by CD Udhampur at Govt. High School Nagrota Panjgrain on 30-8-2013 in which a large number of students participated and were briefed about the Civil Defence and Disaster Management.
  • CD Srinagar : Civil Defence Srinagar organised 05 day’s CD basic training camp at Ahmad Nagar w.e.f 27-08-2013 to 02-09-2013 in which 130 civilian were imparted CD Basic training in fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation.
    Moreover, another Civil Defence 05 day’s training camp was organised at Bhagat Barzulla w.e.f 27-08-2013 to 02-09-2013 in which 90 civilians were trained by CD/SDRF instructors.
  • CD RAJOURI : CD Ambulance alongwith rescue equipments and Rescue team of SDRF/Civil Defence Rajouri were deputed at Jawahar Nagar Rajouri on 28-8-2013 in connection with celebration of Shri Krishan Janamashtmi. Moreover, Civil Defence wardens/volunteers of Rajouri also performed Independence day celebration duty at DPL Rajouri.
  • CD Samba: Civil Defence Samba conducted various Flood rescue operations at Penthi Nala, Diani, Basanter, Bein River, during the month of August 2013. During these operations, Civil Defence and SDRF team rescued many people from floods and injured were shifted to nearest district Hospital Samba. Civil Defence wardens/volunteers show enthusiasm during these rescue operations with their participation.
  • CD Sunderbani : On 29-8-2013, a road accident took place at bridge Thandapani during which Civil Defence wardens/volunteers reached the spot and recued/shifted injured persons to Sub-District Hospital Sunderbani immediately. Moreover, during Independence Day 2013 celebration, CD wardens/ volunteers were also deployed at Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School Sunderbani for performing 15th August Duty.
  • CD Leh: Civil Defence Leh organised 05 days CD training camp in Border Villages w.e.f 01-09-2013 to 07-09-2013. During the camp, a large number of civilians participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations during disaster by CD/SDRF instructors. Moreover, On 13-09-2013, Civil Defence Leh also organised one day Civil Defence awareness camp at Village Shay in which 30 students participated and were acquainted with the role and importance of Civil Defence.
  • CD Wardens delivering lectures during Civil Defence awareness camp at Behrampora Sopore
    CD Baramulla: On 03-09-2013, Civil Defence Baramula organised one day Civil Defence awareness camp at Govt. Higher Secondary School Behrampora Rafiabad in which 300 students participated. Another one day Civil Defence awareness camp was organised on 05-09-2013 at Govt. Higher Secondary School Behrampora Rafiabad in which 300 students participated. During the camp, participants were
    acquainted with the role and importance of Civil Defence and Disaster Management.
  • CD Anantnag : Civil Defence Anantanag organised Civil Defence & Disaster Preparedness Training Camp at Govt. Degree College Anantnag w.e.f 03-09-2013 to 04-09-2013. During camp about 500 students participated and were briefed about the role of Civil Defence during various types of disaster. Moreover, Civil Defence Anantanag also organised 05 day’s CD Training Camp at Govt. Higher Sec. School Hiller Kokernag w.e.f 16-09-2013 to 20-09-2013. During the camp about 50 students participated and were imparted CD training in Fire Fighting, First Aid and Rescue operations by CD/SDRF instructors.
  • CD Samba : On 03-09-2013 and 04-09-2013, one day Civil Defence awareness camps were organised by CD Town Samba at Little Angels School Vijaypur Samba and at Shishu Niketan High School Samba respectively under the supervision of Dy. SP Sh.Sudershan Mehta, I/C Dy. Controller CD Samba. About 250 students and staff of the schools participated during the camp and were made aware about the role of Civil Defence during disaster and its importance by CD /SDRF instructors. Moreover, on 21-09-2013, Civil Defence Samba also organised awareness camp at Adarsh Vidya Peth Hr. Sec. School Samba in which 110 students participated and were briefed about Disaster and safety measures.
  • CD Sunderbani : Civil Defence Sunderbani organised 05 day’s CD basic training camp at Govt. Girls High School Siot, Sunderbani w.e.f 03-09-2013 to 07-09-2013 in which 103 students and staff members were imparted Basic training in Civil Defence skills during any emergency/disaster by the CD/SDRF Instructors.
  • CD Pulwama : Civil Defence Pulwama organised two 05 day’s CD training camps one at Sher Shali Khrew Pampore w.e.f 04-09-2013 and other at Meriland Public School Newa Pulwama w.e.f 28-09-2013. During the camps about 108 students/civilians participated and were imparted CD training in rescue operation,fire-fighting and first aid during disaster by Civil Defence experts.
  • CD Budgam : Civil Defence Budgam organised 05 day’s CD training camp at Govt. Higher Secondary School Draang Khag w.e.f 04-09-2013 to 09-09-2013. During the camp, about 163 students participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations during disaster by CD/SDRF instructors. Moreover, Civil Defence Budgam also organised 05 day’s CD training camp at Govt. Higher School Sholipora Budgam w.e.f 12-09-2013 to 18-09-2013 in which 77 students participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations during disaster by CD/SDRF instructors.
  • CD Udhampur : Civil Defence Udhampur organised 05 day’s basic training camp at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Sudhmahadev w.e.f 04-09-2013 to 09-09-2013. During the camp about 69 students participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations during disaster by CD/SDRF instructors. Moreover, on 07-09-2013 CD Udhampur also organised one day CD awareness camps at Govt. Middle School Basnote,Balika Vidhalya Kalsote Panchari and Govt. Middle School Lower Kalsote Panchari in which a large number of students participated and were briefed about the disaster management and role of Civil Defence and its importance during disaster.
  • CD Kathua : On 04-09-2013, CD Kathua organised one day awareness camp at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Kathua in which 215 students and teaching staff participated. During the camp Civil Defence instructors briefed the participants about role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster. Moreover one day Civil Defence awareness camp was also organised at Govt. Women Degree College Kathua on 24-09-2013 on topic “Disaster and its mitigation” in which 250 students and teaching staff participated and were made aware about the Disaster Management.
  • CD Baramulla: On 08-09-2013, Civil Defence Baramula organised one day Civil Defence awareness camp at Tujar Sharief Sopore in which 200 students participated. Civil Defence Baramula also organised 05 day’s CD training camp at Govt. Higher Secondary School Sangrama w.e.f 16-09-2013 to 20-09-2013. During the camp 30 students participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations by CD/SDRF instructors.
  • CD Udhampur : CD Udhampur organised 05 day’s basic training camp at Govt. High School Bashat w.e.f 09-09-2013 to 13-09-2013. During the camp about 66 students participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations during disaster. Moreover, on 28-09-2013, CD Udhampur also organised one day CD awareness camp at Govt. Middle School Panchari in which more than 150 students participated and teaching staff were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • CD Poonch : Civil Defence Poonch organised two awareness camps at Govt. High School Jaran Wali Gali Tehsil Mendhar on 09-09-2013 and at Govt. High School Fazlabad Surankote on 16-09-2013. During the camps a large number of students/staff members participated and were made aware about the Civil Defence activities and its importance during disasters. Moreover, 05 days CD training camp was also organised at Govt. High School Daraba Surankote w.e.f 16-09-2013 to 21-09-2013 in which about 100 students participated and were imparted training in first-aid, fire-fighting and rescue operations during disaster.
  • CD Kathua : Civil Defence Kathua organised 05 days CD basic training camp at St.Paul Hr. Sec. School Hiranagar w.e.f 09-09-2013 to 13-09-2013. During the camp about 116, Students/staff members participated and were imparted CD Basic training in first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation during disasters. Moreover, one day’s CD awareness camp was also organised at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Kathua on 10-09-2013 in which about 200 students/staff members participated and were briefed about Civil Defence and Disaster Management.
  • CD Doda : Civil Defence Doda organised 05 day’s CD basic training camp at Govt. Hr.Sec. School Chinta Bhaderwah w.e.f 09-09-2013 to 14-09-2013. During the camp about 52 students participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations during disaster. Moreover one day CD awareness camp was also organised at Govt. Hr.Sec. School Behota Doda on 56-9-2013, in which about 200 students/staff members participated and were made aware about the Disaster Management.
  • CD Jammu : Civil Defence Jammu organised 05 days CD basic training camp at Alexander Memorial High School Jammu w.e.f 12-09-2013 to 19-09-2013 in which 52 students participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations during disaster. Moreover, Civil Defence Jammu also organised another 05 days CD basic training camp at Govt. Girls Hr. Sec School Mubarak Mandi Jammu w.e.f 20-09-2013 to 25-09-2013 in which 53 students were trained in Civil Defence skills and Disaster Management.
  • CD Akhnoor : One day Civil Defence awareness camp was organised by CD Town Akhnoor at Kashmiri Mohalla Akhnoor on 13-9-2013. During the camp about 40 Civilians participated and were briefed about the Civil Defence and disaster management.
  • CD Doda : Civil Defence Doda conducted 05 days CD basic training camp at Panchayat Hanga Bhaderwah w.e.f 16-09-2013 to 20-09-2013. During the camp about 30 civilians participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations during disaster. Moreover one day’s CD awareness camp was also organised at Govt. ITI Doda on 06-9-2013, in which about 150 students/staff members participated and were made aware about the Disaster Management.
  • CD Udhampur : CD Udhampur organised 05 days basic CD training camp at Govt. High School Nagrota Panj Gran w.e.f 16-09-2013 to 20-09-2013. During the camp about 58 students participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations during disaster by CD/SDRF instructors. Moreover, on 25-09-2013 CD Udhampur also organised one day CD awareness camps at Govt. Hr.Sec. School Damnote and Govt. Hr.Sec. School Moungari Panchari in which a large number of students participated and were briefed about the disaster management and role of Civil Defence and its importance during disaster.
  • CD Kathua : Civil Defence Kathua organised two 05 day’s training camps at Amar National Hr.Sec. School Marheen w.e.f 18-09-2013 to 23-09-2013 and w.e.f.23-9-2013 to 04-10-2013. During the camps about 112 students/staff members participated and were imparted CD Basic training in first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation during disasters by the Civil Defence and SDRF instructors.
  • CD Samba : Civil Defence Samba organised 05 day’s CD basic training camp at Chack Manga Samba w.e.f 19-09-2013 to 24-10-2013. During the camp about 126 civilians participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations during disaster by CD/SDRF instructors.
  • CD Nowshera : On 20-09-2013, Civil Defence rescue team launched a rescue operation during an accident occurred between two vehicles in which 09 persons were injured, CD volunteers and Wardens alongwith Civil people gave First Aid to injured persons.
  • CD Samba : Civil Defence Samba organised one day Civil Defence awareness camp on 23-09-2013 at Harsath Ghagwal Samba in which 85 civilians participated. Moreover, on 24-9-2013, an awareness camp/ workshop organised by CD Samba at R. K. Degree College Vijaypur in which 340 students participated. During the camp, participants were briefed about the Civil Defence and Disaster Management by Civil Defence and SDRF instructors.
  • CD Udhampur : CD Udhampur organised 05 day’s CD basic training camp at Govt. High School Chanunta w.e.f 23-09-2013 to 30-09-2013. During the camp about 64 students participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations during disaster. Moreover, on 21-09-2013, CD Udhampur also organised one day CD awareness camp at Govt. High School Pachote (Kud) in which more than 200 students participated and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster.

    CD Srinagar : On 26-09-2013 Civil Defence Srinagar organised one day awareness cum demonstration at Toto Ground Bemina Srinagar to aware the general masses about Civil Defence. Moreover, 20 CD Wardens / Volunteers performed Hajj Duty at Hajj House Bemina Srinagar w.e.f 07-09-2013 to 23-09-2013 to assist the pilgrims during their yatra.
  • CD Jammu : Civil Defence Jammu organised 05 day’s CD basic training camp at Cooperative Hr. Sec. School Jammu w.e.f 26-09-2013 to 04-10-2013. During the camp 48 students participated and were trained in Civil Defence skills fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation during disasters.
  • CD Kulgam : On 28-09-2013, Civil Defence Kulgam organised Demonstration cum Mock Drill of rescue operations at Govt. Higher Sec. School Devsar in which about 100 students participated and were briefed about disaster management. Another demonstration cum Mock Drill exercise of rescue operation was also organised on 30-09-2013 at Govt. Higher sec. School Ashmuji Kulgam in which 100 students participated and were acquainted with Civil Defence skills.
  • CD Udhampur : Civil Defence Udhampur organised 05 day’s CD training camp at Govt. High School Dhandal w.e.f 01-10-2013 to 05-10-2013. During the camp about 46 students participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations during disaster by CD/SDRF instructors. Moreover, , CD Udhampur organised one day CD awareness camp at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Khoon Majalta on 03-10-2013 and at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Charat Chenani On 26-10-2013. During the camps about 500 students/staff members participated and were briefed about the Civil Defence and Disaster Management.

Moreover, CD Samba organised one day CD awareness camp at Bhargva Degree College Samba on 07-10-2013 and at Chani Mansar Samba on 09-10-2013 in which about 500 students/staff members participated and were acquainted with Civil Defence skills and its importance during disaster.
  • CD Budgam : Civil Defence Budgam organised awareness programe w.e.f 01-10-2013 to 03-10-2013 at Charishreef Shrine in which a large number of people participated and were acquainted with Civil Defence skills and its importance during disaster.
  • CD Pulwama : Civil Defence Pulwama organised one day CD Warden’s Conference cum awareness camp on 09-10-2013 at Civil Defence Control Room Pulwama in which more than 100 wardens participated.
  • CD Baramula : On 7th , 8th & 9th of October 2013 organised awareness camp at Police Training School Sheree. During the camps about 900 trainees along with staff members participated and were made aware about Civil Defence and Disaster Management. Moreover, Civil Defence Baramula also organised 05 days CD training camp at DPL Baramula w.e.f 21-10-2013 to 25-10-2013 in which about 68 police officials participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations by CD/SDRF instructors. A live demonstration was also conducted on the occasion.
  • CD Nowshera : On 10-10-2013, CD Nowshera organised one day CD awareness camp at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Kalsian in which 250 students participated. During the camp, Dy. Divisional Warden Sh. Rajinder Parshad Damral gave the lecture on different topic of Civil Defence like Earthquake, Rescue operation, Fire Fighting etc. to make aware the participants about Disaster Management.
  • CD Samba : Civil Defence Samba organised 05 day’s CD training camp at Rakwal Chack Manga Samba w.e.f 10-10-2013 to 18-10-2013. During the camp about 67 students participated and were imparted basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations during disaster by CD/SDRF instructors. Moreover, CD Samba also organised 02 one day CD awareness camp at Govt. Degree College Samba on 14-10-2013 and at Channi Manshan Swankha More Vijaypur on 22-10-2013. During these camps a large number of students participated and were made aware about role and importance of Civil Defence and Disaster Management.
  • CD Kathua : On 10-10-2013, CD Kathua organised one day CD awareness camp at Govt. High School Gaiterwan Kathua, in which 235 students participated. Moreover, Civil Defence Kathua organised 05 day’s CD training camp at Rachpal Memorial Convent School w.e.f 07-10-2013 to 11-10-2013. During the camp, about 50 students participated and were imparted CD Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations by CD/SDRF instructors.
  • CD Akhnoor : On 11-10-2013, Civil Defence Akhnoor organised one day CD awareness camp at ward No. 9, Exchange Colony Akhnoor. During the camp about 50 students participated and were made aware about the role of Civil Defence and their importance during disaster.

    CD Baramula: Civil Defence Baramula organised one day CD awareness camp on 10-10-2013 at Higher Sec. School Kunzar Tangmarg in which about150 students participated and were acquainted with Civil Defence and its role during disaster. Also on 31-10-2013, Civil Defence Baramula organised one day CD awareness camp at St. Joseph Higher Sec. School in which about 120 students participated and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • CD Rajouri : Civil Defence Rajouri organised 05 day’s CD training camp at Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School Thanamandi w.e.f 14-10-2013 to 21-10-2013. During the camp about 128 students participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations during disaster by CD/SDRF instructors. A live demonstration on rescue opertion was also conducted on the occasion.
  • CD Kathua : Civil Defence Kathua organised 05 day’s CD training camps at Nav Adarsh Hr. Sec. School Kathua w.e.f 21-10-2013 to 25-10-2013 and at M.H.S.D.A Higher Sec. School Kathua w.e.f 28-10-2013 to 01-11-2013. During the camps, about 100 students participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations by CD/SDRF instructors. A live demonstration on rescue operation was also conducted to make the training more effective among the trainees. Moreover, on 31-10-2013 Civil Defence Kathua conducted rescue operation at Mahanpur in Peru Nallah where a SRTC Bus met with an accident in which about 28 persons were injured. The injured persons were hospitalized and their luggage was searched out from deep water and handed over to the Local Police.
  • CD Poonch : On 23-10-2013, CD Poonch organised one day CD awareness camp at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Harni Mendhar in which 170 students participated. Moreover, Civil Defence Poonch also organised 05 day’s CD training camp at Govt. High School Sanai Surankote w.e.f 04-10-2013 to 09-10-2013 in which about 187 students participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations during disaster by CD/SDRF instructors.
  • CD Doda : Civil Defence Doda organised two one day CD awareness camp at Panchayat Halqa Kari Chattra Bhaderwah on 24-10-2013 and at Panchayat Halqa Upper Behota Marmat on 27-10-2013. During the camp, a large number of civilians participated and were made aware about the Civil Defence and Disaster Management. Moreover, Civil Defence Doda also organised 05 days CD training camp at Panchayat Halqa Ghuraka Bhaderwah w.e.f 05-10-2013 to 11-10-2013 in which 50 civilians participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations by CD/SDRF instructors. A live demonstration was also conducted on the occasion.
  • CD Nowshera : Civil Defence Nowshera organised 05 day’s CD training camp at Govt. High School Laroka w.e.f 24-10-2013 to 29-10-2013. During the camp, about 120 students participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations by CD/SDRF instructors. Moreover, on 30-10-2013, CD Nowshera organised one day CD awareness camp at Govt. High School Langer in which 120 students participated and were briefed about the Disaster Management by CD/SDRF experts.
  • CD Doda : On 25-10-2013 Civil Defence/SDRF Rescue team was deputed at Gharsoo (Pull Doda) where a Tipper met with an accident in which driver of
    tipper and another person drowned in the River Chinab. During the rescue operation, the dead body of Driver was fished out with the help of local police and with the hectic efforts of the SDRF rescue team.
  • CD Jammu: Civil Defence Jammu organised 05 day’s CD training camp at Tiny Tots Hr. Sec. School Sainik Colony Jammu w.e.f 26-10-2013 to 31-10-2013. During the camp about 50 students participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations by CD/SDRF instructors. Moreover, on 12-10-2013, CD Jammu also organised one day CD awareness camp at NCC Camp Nagrota in which 385 NCC cadets participated and were made aware about the Disaster Management and role of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • CD Udhampur : CD Udhampur organised 02 one days CD awareness camps at Govt. High School Kithar Chenani on 28-10-2013 and at Govt. High School Talpard Udhampur on 31-10-2013. During the camps, about 600 students/staff members participated and were acquainted with the Civil Defence skills and its importance. Moreover, CD Udhampur also organised one day CD awareness camp at Gen. Bhag Singh Public School Udhampur in which about 100 students participated and were made aware about the Civil Defence and its importance during disasters.
  • CD Jammu: Civil Defence Jammu organised 05 day’s CD training camp at Alexander Memorial High School Jammu w.e.f 29-10-2013 to 02-11-2013. During the camp, about 26 students participated and were imparted Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations during disaster by CD/SDRF instructors. Moreover, on 22-10-2013, CD Jammu also organised one day CD awareness camp at NCC Camp Nagrota in which 442 students participated and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • CD Kulgam : Civil Defence Kulgam organised 02 one day CD awareness camps at Town Hall Kulgam on 30-10-2013 and at Poly Technique College Kulgam on 31-10-2013 in which about 400 students/civilians participated and were acquainted with Civil Defence activities and its importance during disaster.
  • CD Sunderbani : On 31-10-2013 Civil Defence Town Sunderbani organised one day CD awareness camp in the premises of Govt. High School Thandapani. During the camp about 105 students/staff members participated and were briefed by the CD instructors. On the occasion, Sh. Suresh Kumar. Dy.SP, I/C Dy. Controller CD Rajouri also delivered Lecture on the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • CD Srinagar: Civil Defence Srinagar organised two CD training camps one at RCDCC Srinagar w.e.f. 02-11-2013 to 08-11-2013 and other at Ahmad Nagar Srinagar w.e.f. 26-11-2013 to 30-11-2013. During these camps about 200 Civilians/students participated and were imparted CD training in fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation. Moreover, Civil Defence Srinagar organised First Aid Camp at Khoshipora HMT Srinagar on 19-11-2013 in which a large number of civilians participated and created awareness among the civilians about Civil Defence and its importance during disaster.
  • CD Samba : On 04-11-2013 CD Samba organised one day CD awareness camp at Rakwal Chack Manga Near Ravi Dass Mandir Samba. During the camp about 126 civilians participated and were briefed about Civil Defence and its importance during disaster. CD Samba also organised one day CD awareness camp/workshop at Dogra college of Education Trust Bari Brahmana on 08-11-2013 and at Govt. Higher Sec. School Raya On 16-11-2013 on the topic “First Aid and Disaster Managemnet”.
  • CD Baramulla : CD Baramulla organised 05 days Civil Defence training camp at Noorkhan Boniyar Baramulla w.e.f 07-11-2013 to 13-11-2013 in which 100 civilians participated and were imparted CD training in fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation. Moreover, on 30-11-2013, CD Baramulla organised one day CD awareness camp at Nowpora Rafiabad Sopore in which 500 civilians participated and were made aware about Civil Defence activities.
  • CD Jammu : Civil Defence Jammu organised two training camps at Govt. Hari Singh Hr.Sec. School Jammu w.e.f. 08-11-2013 to 13-11-2013 and w.e.f. 14-11-2013 to 20-11-2013 in which about 100 students were imparted CD training in first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operations during disaster.
  • CD Poonch : On 9-11-2013 CD Poonch organised 02 one day CD awareness camps one at Govt. Middle School Nangali and other at Govt. High School Ajote Poonch. During these camps a large number of students participated and were made aware about Civil Defence skills and Disaster Management.
  • CD Akhnoor : CD Akhnoor organised one day CD awareness camp at ward No. 09 Akhnoor on 11-11-2013 in which 45 civilians participated and were acquainted with Civil Defence activities and its importance.
  • CD Budgam : Civil Defence Budgam organised Medical First Aid camps during Mohram procession at Khandah, Budgam, Magam on 12th, 15th & 16th Nov.2013 respectively. Moreover CD Baramulla, also organised First Aid camp at Delina Baramulla during Mohram Procession.
  • Civil Defence warden briefing the participants during CD awareness cum training camp held at Kathua
    CD Kathua: CD Kathua organised one day CD awareness camp at K.V School Kathua on 12-11-2013 in which 200 students participated and were made aware about disaster management. Moreover, on 19-11-2013 CD Kathua also organised one day CD awareness camp at Govt. Higher Sec. School Chakra Hiranagar in which about 500 students were acquainted with Civil Defence skills and Disaster Management.
  • CD Anantnag : Civil Defence Anantnag organsied 03 day’s awareness camp at Chaturgal Anantnag w.e.f. 13-11-2013 to 15-11-2013 in which a large number of civilians participated and were acquainted with first –aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation etc. Moreover CD Anantnag also organised one day awareness camp at Town Hall Achabal on 30-11-2013 in which 500 Civilian participated.
  • CD Udhampur : On 14-11-2013, CD Udhampur organised one day CD awareness camp at City Middle School in which 200 students participated and were made aware about Civil Defence activities. CD Udhampur also organised one day CD awareness camp at Govt. Girls Higher Sec. School Udhampur on 26-11-2013 in which about 350 students and staff members of school participated and were acquainted with Civil Defence skills and its importance during disaster.
  • CD Anantnag: Civil Defence Anantnag organised two 05 day’s CD training camps one at ICDS HQ Anantnag w.e.f. 19-11-2013 to 23-11-2013 and other at ICDS project office Achabal w.e.f. 26-11-2013 to 30-11-2013. During these camps about 270 members of ICDS participated and were imparted CD training in fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation by the Civil Defence and SDRF instructors.
  • CD Doda : CD Doda organised 02 one day CD awareness camp at Halqa Panchayat Diggi Tehsil Bhaderwah on 19-11-2013 and at Govt. Middle School Diggi Bhaderwah on 20-11-2013 in which a large number of civilians participated and were acquainted with Civil Defence activities and its importance during disaster.
  • CD Pulwama: Civil Defence Pulwama organised 05 days basic CD training camp at Gulzarpora Awantipora Pulwama w.e.f 23-11-2013 to 28-11-2013 in which 49 NCC cadets participated and were imparted CD training in fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation. On 16-11-2013, CD Pulwama organised one day CD awareness camp at Gongu Pulwama in which 100 civilians participated.
  • CD Doda: On 25-11-2013 CD Doda organised one day CD awareness camp at Panchayat Halqa Mangota Tehsil Doda in which 60 civilians participated and were briefed about Civil Defence skills and its importance.
  • CD Sunderbani : On 27-11-2013 CD Sunderbani organised one day CD awareness camp at Govt. Higher Sec. School Patrara in which 90 students participated and were briefed about Civil Defence skills.
  • CD Pulwama : On 28-11-2013 CD Pulwama organised two CD awareness camps one at Govt. High School and other at Mehboobul Alam Public high school of Lasipora Pulwama in which about 350 students participated and were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster.
