STATE DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE CONDUCTED RESCUE OPERATION ALONGWITH LOCAL POLICE DURING COLLAPSE OF UNDER CONSTRUCTION BUILDING

Two labourers were killed and eight others injured when roof-top of an under construction portion of double storied banquet hall ‘Kangra Fort’ collapsed in Upper Barnai area, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Domana on 29-07-2013. Some labourers were engaged in construction of additional portion of “Kangra Fort” in Upper Barnai area when the roof-top of building suddenly collapsed. In the incident, the labourers engaged in the construction work got trapped under the debris. Other labourers came to rescue them but nine of them got trapped in debris badly. On getting information, State Disaster Response Force Jammu rushed to the spot and alongwith local police started rescue operation. During the rescue operation, SDRF team evacuated two labourers by penetrating the collapsed roof structure with the help of SDRF rescue equipments. All the labourers were evacuated and shifted in Civil Defence Ambulance to Govt. Medical College Bakshi Nagar Jammu for further treatment where doctors declared two labourers as brought dead. The work done by the SDRF team was highly appreciated by the civil administration and general masses who witnessed the rescue operation.


 

 


STATE DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE AND CIVIL DEFENCE J&K CONDUCTED RESCUE OPERATION AND AWARENESS CAMPS AT DODA DURING EARTHQUAKE

On 01-05-2013, a massive Earthquake hit district Doda. Quick action was taken by the Civil Defence Organization Doda and deputed rescue vehicle alongwith SDRF team/ Civil Defence wardens & volunteers towards Bhaderwah and Gandoh where heavy damages were reported. The rescue team was headed by the Dy.Commissioner-cum-Controller Civil Defence Doda and SP Doda. All the wardens/volunteers of district Doda were kept in high alert and advised to take immediate action in their respective jurisdictions. Civil Defence wardens / volunteers of Bhaderwah have rescued some injured students of Govt. Hr. Sec. School (Girls) Bhaderwah from the damaged school building. Also some injured of Gandoh area were rescued by the CD wardens and shifted them to Govt. Hospital Gandoh.

On the same day a team of 15 SDRF personnel were deployed from SDRF 2nd Bn. Jammu under the orders of Smt.D.R.Doley Barman, IPS ADGP HG/CD & SDRF J&K for rescue operation. On 02-5-2013, two SDRF rescue teams were detailed and moved towards Bhaderwah at early morning for search and rescue operation under the supervision of SP Doda and Area Commander Hgds cum Dy.Controller CD Doda Sh.Ajay Kumar Dubey, who personally monitored the rescue operation. Many buildings were damaged and life and property of locals was saved by the rescue teams. During the visit of Hon’ble Union Health Minister Sh.Gh.Nabi Azad on 04-05-2013 and Hon’ble Chief Minister Sh.Omer Abdulla on 09-05-2013, the rescue team of SDRF and Civil Defence were present in Bhaderwah for conducting rescue operations.

During the period upto 15/5/2013, earthquake of different Rector Scales were observed in the area and people spent nights outside their houses. The rescue teams of SDRF/Civil Defence helped the locals for pitching tents and also briefed the people about the safety measure to be taken. Moreover, Civil Defence awareness camps were organized in the district about DO’s and DON’ts during Earthquake. Civil Defence literatures/pamphlets were distributed among the people for general awareness.


 

 

DIVISIONAL COMMANDANT HOMEGUARDS JAMMU CONDUCTED A DURBAR OF VOLUNTEERS OF HOMEGUARD AT CTI HG/CD JAMMU

On 11-07-2013, Sh.Vikas Gupta, SP Divisional Commandant Homeguards Jammu conducted a Durbar of Volunteer Homeguards at CTI HG/CD Jammu. The Durbar was attended by 36 VHGs who have come from different districts of Jammu Province. During the durbar, it was emphasized to them that it is privilege for them to undergo various courses so that they can assist the Police and the people during any calamity. VHGs were also asked to encourage the people of their areas to come forward for joining Homeguard for voluntary service to nation. Moreover, on 31-7-2013, Sh.Vikas Gupta, SP Divisional Commandant Homeguards Jammu also delivered lecture on the topic ‘Role of Homeguard volunteers in Disaster Management. during 30 days Advance training course and also directed instructors to impart proper training and inculcate discipline among the volunteers. During the period, 01-04-2013 to 17-07-2013, 94 Homeguard volunteers were trained in 45 days Basic Training and 30 days Advance training courses at Central Training Institute of HG/CD Jammu.


 

 


CIVIL DEFENCE KATHUA IMPARTED AWARENESS CUM TRAINING AMONG THE STUDENTS OF RURAL AREAS

On 23-05-2013, Civil Defence Kathua organized one day awareness camp at ETT Rainbow college Kathua on the topic “fire safety and Rescue operation” in which about 150 students and staff members participated. Also on 28-05-2013 one day awareness camp on topic “Earthquake, Fire Fighting & First Aid” was conducted at Govt. Degree College and Hr. Sec. School Premises Bani in which 300 students of Colleges/Schools, Sarpanches/Panches, ZEO office staff and some employees of other Departments participated.

On the occasion, SDM Bani Sh. Ranjit Singh was the Chief Guest. Civil Defence and SDRF instructors briefed and acquainted the participants with the aim & objectives of Civil Defence and SDRF and their importance during disasters. They also briefed the participants about fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operations. Sh.Santokh Raj, Dy.SP Dy.Controller CD Kathua highlighted the role and activities of the Civil Defence.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE SRINAGAR ORGANISED BLOOD DONATION CAMP

Civil Defence Srinagar in collaboration with National Society for Human Welfare, AIDS Control Society Social Welefare Board, CEEO and Govt. Lalla Ded Hospital, Health Services Kashmir organized blood donation camp at Hussaini Chowk Gund Hassibhat Srinagar on 14-6-2013. Sh.Gulam Jeelani Zargar Astt. Commissioner Revenue Srinagar inaugurated the Blood Donation camp and said in his speech that these organizations are playing a vital role in the community by organizing Blood donation camps, Medical or other awareness camps. He encouraged the volunteers/ Blood donors by awarding them certificates. Mr.Rahi Riyaz Ahmed, General Secretary National Society in his welcome address said that WBDD is also a day to celebrate and thank those people throughout the world who donate Blood. Dozens of volunteers donated Blood on the occasion. Moreover, Aircel Telecom Company in association with Civil Defence Srinagar facilitated by Governement Medical College, L.D.Hospital Srinagar also organized Blood donation camp on 23-06-2013. During the camp, Aircel’s employees donated blood. Among others, Sh.Aamir Ali, Dy.Chief Warden CD Srinagar, Sh.B.K.Kaul Sales Head Aircel, Dr.Mushtaq Ahmed Rather Medical Supdt. were also present on the occasion.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE REVIEW ARRANGEMENTS FOR SHRI AMAR NATH JI YATRA-2013

A meeting of Civil Defence Wardens was held under the chairmanship of Sh.Dushyant Sharma, SP Dy.Controller CD Jammu in the conference hall of RCDCC Jammu on 24-6-2013. The main aim of the meeting was to review the arrangements for Shri Amar Nath Ji Yatra- 2013 which was commencing w.e.f. 28-6-2013. A large number of Civil Defence wardens including Sh.Jugal Mahajan, Chief Warden Jammu, Sh.Paramjit Kumar, Dy.Chief Wardens, Sh.Jia Lal Sharma, Divisional Warden, Sh.K.K.Verma, Sh.R.Vijay Magotra, Smt. Santosh Magotra, Smt.Raj Bakshi, Dy.Divisional wardens were present on the occasion. The wardens were asked to assist the local police in order to make the Amarnath Yatra more successful. It was decided that the services of CD wardens/volunteers shall also be utilized at different places like Railway Station, Bus Stand, Airport & Yatri Bhawan Bhagwati Nagar Jammu etc. The CD wardens/volunteers were also directed to wear CD jackets during their duty.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE SRINAGAR IMPARTED CD BASIC TRAINING AMONG STUDENTS OF GOVERNMENT COLLEGE FOR WOMEN AT M.A. ROAD, SRINAGAR

Civil Defence Srinagar organized 05 day’s disaster preparedness training programme at Government College for Women M.A. Road, Srinagar w.e.f. 24-06-2013 to 27-6-2013. The training programme was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Shaheeen Altaf, Principal. Speaking on the occasion she gave stress that the students should take keen interest in CD training. She appreciated Civil Defence and NSS unit of the College for the efforts put in to organize the programme. 71 girl students, besides many faculty members and staff attended the training. Sh.Aamir Ali, Dy. Chief Warden CD Srinagar implored on the students to learn life saving skills. He said that the training would comprise of fire fighting, first aid as well as search and rescue techniques, so that the students are better prepared to respond in case of any emergency or disaster. CD trainers Sh.Aijaz Ahmed, Syed Abid and Sh.Parvez Ahmed led by ASI (M) Shabir Ahmed Khan and SI Abdul Gani were deputed by Commandant SDRF 1st Bn. Sh.Mehraj Ahmed Shah,SP on the instructions of Addl. DGP, Civil Defence Smt. D.R. Dolly Barman, IPS. Dr. Nighat Ara, Co-ordinator of NSS presented vote of thanks.

CIVIL DEFENCE KARGIL ORGANIZED AN AWARENESS PROGRAMME

 

Students were briefed during an awareness camp organized at Hr. Sec. School Shargole Kargil

On 24-6-2013, Civil Defence Oganisation Kargil organized an awareness programme at Higher Secondary School Shargole on the eve of World NO Tobacco Day. A large number of students, teachers, principal of the school, CD wardens, volunteers, participated in this programme.

The Chief Guest Dy. Controller Civil Defence Kargil (Dy.SP DAR) Sh.Stanzin Losal, through a video on 2010 Ladakh floods during which at least 255 people are reported to have died, six of whom were foreign tourists, after cloudburst and heavy overnight rains triggered flash floods, mudslides. He gave a presentation on importance of enrolling youths as Civil Defence volunteers in multi hazards Kargil District.

Guest of Honour Dr. Abass BMO Shargool spoke on social aspect of Tobacco Abuse in youth and on the occasion and said that every year i.e. on 31 May, WHO and partners mark World NO Tobacco Day, highlighting the health risks associated with tobacco use and advocating for effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption. Tobacco kills nearly six million people each year, of which more than 600 000 are non-smokers dying from breathing second-hand smoke. The theme of this year’s campaign is "Ban tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship”.

On this occasion Dr. Anayat Mir Chief Warden Civil Defence/ Medical officer Distt. Hospital Kargil while presenting a detailed presentation on tobacco abuse said youths are most vulnerable to drug abuse (a man made disaster).


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE KULGAM IMPARTED CD TRAINING AMONG STUDENTS

Five days CD training camp was organised by Civil Defence Unit Kulgam at ITI Kulgam w.e.f. 12-7-2013 to 18-7-2013. During the camp about 125 students/staff members participated and were imparted Civil Defence training in first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation by CD/SDRF instructors. Moreover, another 05 days CD training camp were also organized by CD unit Kulgam at Higher Secondary School Devsar Kulgam w.e.f. 31-7-2013 in which about 100 students participated and were imparted Civil Defence training in disaster mitigation and management by the CD experts.

  • CD JAMMU: On 01-04-2013, Civil Defence Jammu organised one day awareness camp at Delhi Public School Jammu. The main aim of the camp was to facilitate the teachers and staff members about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster. During the camp, about 300 students/staff members participated. The role of Civil Defence was appreciated by the Principal of the School Sh. Sudershan Sonar.
  • CD SAMBA : On 05-04-2013, Civil Defence Samba organised one day awareness camp at Indo Swift factory Samba. During the camp, about 350 workers/staff members participated and were made aware about the Civil Defence activities and disaster management. On the occasion, Sh.Sudershan Mehta, Dy.SP also delivered lecture on the topic first aid and disaster management.
  • CD POONCH: On 06-04-2013, Civil Defence Poonch organized one day awareness camp at Govt. Middle school Saral in which 50 student participated and were made aware about the Civil Defence and Disaster Management by the Civil Defence/SDRF Instructors. Also on 17-04-2013 one day awareness camp was organized at Govt. Middle School Gursai in which 50 students participated and were briefed about Civil Defence activities.
  • CD JAMMU : On 10-04-2013, Civil Defence Jammu imparted awareness among the NSS cadets and staff members of the MIER College of Education Jammu. During the camp, about 100 volunteers participated and were briefed in fire-fighting, first-aid, rescue operation by the Civil Defence instructors and wardens. On 27-04-2013 CD Jammu also organized one day awareness camp at Banyan International School Babliana Jammu. The main aim of the awareness camp was to facilitate the Students/ Staff members with regard to role and importance of Civil Defence during Disasters.
  • CD JAMMU: During the Navratra Festival, Civil Defence Jammu organized a First Aid cum CD awareness camp at Bahu Fort Jammu w.e.f 11-04-2013 to 19-04-2013 to facilitate the devotees.

On the occasion CD training certificates were also distributed among the trained CD volunteers. Also, on 22-04-2013, Civil Defence town Sunderbani organized one day awareness camp at Govt. Girls High School Siot. During the camp about 150 students and staff members participated and were acquainted with first aid, fire-fighting and the role /importance of Civil Defence during disaster by the CD and SDRF instructors. Sh.Suresh Kumar, Dy.SP also highlighted the activities of Civil Defence town Sunderbani on the occasion.
  • CD RAJOURI : On 12-04-2013, Civil Defence Rajouri organized one day awareness camp at Govt. High School Jawahar Nagar Rajouri. During the camp, about 80 students/staff members participated and were briefed about the first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operations during disasters by the Civil Defence and SDRF instructors.
  • CD DODA : On 15-4-2013, Civil Defence Doda organized one day awareness camp at Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School doda in which 250 students participated and were made aware about the Civil Defence and Disaster Management. Also, On 24-4-2013, Civil Defence Doda organized one day awareness camp at Govt. Degree College Doda in which about 300 students participated. During the camp, participants were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disasters.
  • CD SRINAGAR: On 16-04-2013, Civil Defence Srinagar participated in high level advocacy on tobacco control organized by Voluntary Health Association of India at SP Higher Secondary school M.A Road Srinagar in which about 500 students participated in the programme
  • CD SAMBA : On 17-4-2013, Civil Defence Samba organized one day awareness camp at Sun Pharma Medication Pvt. Samba. During the camp, about 150 workers/staff members of the industry participated and were made aware about the first aid, fire-fighting & shifting of injured by the Civil Deefnce and SDRF instructors

    CD UDHAMPUR: On 17-04-2013 one day awareness camp was organized by Civil Defence Udhampur at K.C Gurukul Public School Udhampur. During the camp about 300 students/Staff members participated and made aware about the Civil Defence and Disaster Management. Civil Defence Udhampur also organized first Aid cum awareness camp at Devika Mandir Udhampur during the Basakhi Festival w.e.f 13-04-2013 to 15-04-2013.
  • CD BARAMULLA: Civil Defence Baramulla organized one day awareness camp at B.Ed College Kitchama Sheeri Baramulla on 22-04-2013 in which about 150 students participated. During the camp, Dr.Mohd Farooq, Chief Warden Baramulla briefed the participants and highlighted the CD activities of the town
  • CD AKHNOOR: On 23-04-2013 , one day Civil Defence awareness camp was organized by CD Town Akhnoor at W. No. 12 Gurudwara Akhnoor. During the camp 150 people participated and were made aware about the role and importantance of Civil Defence during Disaster.
  • CD POONCH: On 25-04-2013, Civil Defence Poonch organized one day awareness camp at Govt. High School Sanai in which 100 students participated and were made aware about the First Aid, Fire fighting and Rescue operation during Disaster.
  • CD BARAMULLA : On 26-4-2013, Civil Defence Baramulla organized one day awareness camp at St. Joseph Higher Sec. School Baramulla. During the camp about, 200 students/staff members participated and were acquainted with Civil Defence and Disaster Management by the Civil Defence/ SDRF instructors.

    CD RAJOURI: On 27-4-2013, Civil Defence awareness camp was organized at Dawn Public Higher Secondary School Rajouri in which about 120 students and staff members participated. During the camp, participants were briefed about Civil Defence and disaster management.
  • CD KATHUA : One day Civil Defence awareness camp was conducted on topic “Fire-Fighting and First Aid” on 30-4-2013 at Kalibari Kathua in which about 115 Citizens/Civilians participated. CD literature related to different calamities were also distributed among the participants. Civil Defence Kathua also conducted a search operation on 03-04-2013 at river Ravi and fished out the dead body of a drowned person namely Roshan Din S/o Sh. Sain R/o Manu Basohli who was washed away due to water flow of Dam of river Ravi near Lakhanpur.
  • CD SRINAGAR: On 30-04-2013, Civil Defence Srinagar organized one day disaster management awareness training programme at Iqra Public High School, Bemina. More than 150 students participated in the programme along with teachers and staff members. A mock drill exercise was also conducted to acquaint the particiapants with regard to rescue operations to be taken during disasters. CD Training Certificate were also distributed among the participants.

    CD SUNDERBANI: On 01-05-2013, one day awareness camp was organized on the premises of Govt. Boys High School Siot Sunderbani in which about 100 students including staff members participated. On the occasion, Sh. Suresh Chib, Dy.SP I/C Dy. Controller CD Sunderbani delivered lecture to the participant on the topics “Fire Fighting, Earthquake and First Aid” during Disaster.
  • CD SRINAGAR : Civil Defence Srinagar organized interschool symposium on Disaster Preparedness at Scholars School Natipora Srinagar on 02-05-2013. During the symposium more than 300 students participated and were briefed about Disaster Management
  • CD SAMBA : On 04-05-2013, one day awareness camp on First Aid & Earthquake was organized by Civil Defence Samba at Burger Paint Indusries Ltd. Samba. About 185 workers/staff members of the Industry participated and were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster. Civil Defence Samba also organized one day awareness camp at Govt. Hr. Secondary School Vijaypur on 21-5-2013 in which about 175 students participated. On the occasion, the students were made aware about safety measures to be taken in case of fire incident and was also briefed on the topic of “First Aid Mass Causality” along with demonstration
  • CD NOWSHERA : On 06-05-2013, one day CD awareness camp was organized at Govt. Higher Secondary School Bhawani, Nowshera in which about 160 students participated. During the camp, Sh. Suresh Kumar Chib, Dy.SP I/C Dy. Controller CD Rajouri briefed the participants regarding Civil Defence activities. Documentary film/pictures on Civil Defence activities were also displayed on the occasion. On the occasion, power-point presentation was given on the safety measures to be adopted before during and after the disaster
  • CD RAJOURI : On 07-05-2013, a joint rescue operation was conducted by the SDRF, Army, Police, CD Wardens and Civilians when a car bearing Registration No. JK02AL-0220 met with an accident with truck No. JK02Y—5437, resulting both the vehicles plunge into a gorge at Dhanwan Rajouri. The injured persons were rescued and shifted to District Hospital Rajouri in Ambulance. During rescue operation, rescue equipments were put to use by the Civil Defence and SDRF personnel.
  • CD BUDGAM: During the month of May 2013, Civil Defence Budgam started enrollment process of Civil Defence Wardens at Khansahib, Khag and Beerwah areas of Budgam in which about 78 CD wardens were enrolled.

    CD SRINAGAR: Five day’s Civil Defence training camp was organized at Govt. High School Panrathen w.e.f. 08-05-2013 to 14-05-2013. During the camp 70 CD volunteers participated and were imparted CD Basic training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations by the Civil Defence and SDRF instructors.
  • CD POONCH: Four Civil Defence awareness camps were organized by CD Poonch during the month of May 2013, One at Govt. Middle School Phamanar Tehsil Mendhar on 09-5-2013 in which 50 students participated and another conducted at DPL Poonch on 15-5-2013 in which about 30 Police personnel participated and acquainted with Civil Defence demonstration exhibited during the camp. Third camp was organized at Govt. High School Bandi chachian on 21-5-2013 in which 50 students participated. Fourth awareness camp was organized at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Mohri Gursai Mendhar on 24-5-2013 in which 100 students participated. During these camps, Civil Defence and SDRF instructors gave demonstration on first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operations during disasters.

    CD BARAMULLA : On 09-5-2013, Civil Defence Budgam organized one day awareness camp at Govt. High School Sangrama Sopore. During the camp, about 400 students participated and were acquainted with the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • CD JAMMU : On 14-05-2013, one day awareness programme on First Aid, was organized by Civil Defence Jammu at J&K Bank Town Hall Jammu. At least 40 staff members participated and were made aware about the Disaster Management and role of Civil Defence/SDRF during disaster.

    During camp 200 students participated. On 16-05-2013, one day Civil Defence awareness camp was organized at Common Public Hr. secondary School Sangoor Udhampur in which about 250 students participated.
  • CD RAJOURI : On 15-05-2013, one day awareness camp was organized at Delhi Public Hr. Secondary School Phalyana Rajouri. During the camp about 140 students participated in the CD awareness camp. Also, on 28-05-2013, one day Civil Defence awareness camp was organized at Elite public Hr. Sec. School Saaj Rajouri on the topic of “Earthquake and school Fire Safety” which was attended by 120 students/staff members of the school.
  • CD AKHNOOR: On 15-05-2013, Civil Defence Akhnoor organized one day awareness camp on fire fighting and First Aid at Little Flower School Akhnoor in which about 140 students participated and acquainted with Civil Defence activities by the CD instructors.

    CD SRINAGAR : Interschool symposium on Disaster Preparedness was organized by Civil Defence Srinagar at Rahi Public School Lawaypora HMT Srinagar on 16-5-2013. During the symposium more than 400 students participated and were acquainted with Disaster Preparedness and mitigation. Moreover, on 20-5-2013, Inter school symposium on ill effects of Tabacco was also organised by CD Srinagar at SP Higher Secondary School Srinagar in which more than 300 students/staff members participated and were made aware about the ill effects of Tabacco. Further a rally on ‘World No Tabacco’ was also conducted on 31-05-2013 from Nehru Park to SKICC and Govt. College of Education in which a large number of people participated.

    CD JAMMU : On 17-05-2013, one day awareness camp on Earthquake precaution was organized by Civil Defence Jammu at Banyan International School Bablian Jammu. During the camp about 100 staff members participated. Also, w.e.f 30-05-2013, 05 days Civil Defence basic training camp was organized at Chenab College of Education Kalu Chak Jammu in which 50 students including teaching staff participated. During these camps participants were made aware on Earthquake, First Aid and fire fighting and role of Civil Defence under the supervision of Sh.Dushyant Sharma, Dy.Controller CD Jammu.
  • CD UDHAMPUR : On 18-05-2013, Civil Defence Udhampur organized one day awareness camp at Govt. Middle School Jakhani Udhampur in which about 80 students participated along with Teachers/Staff of school. On 20-05-2013, one day Civil Defence awareness camp was organized at Govt. M.S Barrian, Udhampur in which about 70 students participated. On 23-05-2013, one day Civil Defence awareness camp was organized at Common Govt. Girsl High Secondary School Udhampur in which 300 students participated. On 24-05-2013, one day Civil Defence awareness camp organized at Common Govt. Boys High Secondary School Udhampur in which 300 students participated.

    CD BARAMULLA: Civil Defence Baramulla organized one day awareness camp at Govt. High Sec. School Keeri Pattan and Govt. High School Shatloo Rafibad Baramulla on 22-05-2013 and 29-5-2013 respectively. During these camps a large number of students/ staff members participated and were briefed about the Civil Defence and Disaster Management by the Civil Defence/SDRF instructors.
  • CD SRINAGAR: Civil Defence Srinagar organized T-20 Cricket Tournaments at Kashmir University w.e.f. 23-5-2013 to 31-5-2013 in which a large number of Civil Defence volunteers participated.
  • CD SRINAGAR : Civil Defence organised 05 day’s disaster preparedness training programme at Government College for Women MA Road, Srinagar w.e.f. 24-5-2013. The training programme was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Shaheeen Altaf, Principal of the college. Speaking on the occasion she said that students should attend the training with keen interest being important in nature. She appreciated the role of Civil Defence and NSS unit of the College for the efforts put in to organize the programme. 71 students, besides many faculty members and staff attended the camp. Sh.Aamir Ali, Dy. Chief Warden CD Srinagar stressed upon the students to learn life saving skills. He said that the training would comprise of fire fighting, first aid as well as search and rescue, so that the students could better equipped to respond in case of any emergency or disaster.

    A view of Civil Defence awareness camp conducted at Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya Basolhi by CD Kathua
    CD KATHUA : On 29-05-2013, one day Civil Defence awareness camp was organized at Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya Basolhi. During the camp students were made aware about the Earthquake, First Aid, Snakebite and a demonstration progarmme was also conducted on the occasion. About 290 students and prominent citizens participated in the camp. SDM Basohli Sh.Pran Singh was the chief guest and SDPO Basohli was the guest of honour on the occasion. Sh.Santokh Raj, Dy.SP Dy.Controller CD Kathua highlighted the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • CD SAMBA : On 05-6-2013, One day Civil Defence awareness camp was organized by CD Samba among the employees of Nandni Hills Samba. During the camp about 300 employees and staff members participated and were briefed about the Civil Defence and its importance during disaster. A live demonstration on rescue operations were also conducted among the participants by the Civil Defence/SDRF instructors. Moreover, Civil Defence Samba also organized one day awareness camp at Birpur Datti Talab on 16-6-2013 to make the general masses aware about Civil Defence.
  • CD NOWSHERA : On 05-06-2013, Civil Defence Nowshera organized one day awareness camp at Hanjan Thakra. During the camp about 70 people attended the camp and were briefed on Earthquake, First aid and fire fighting. Sh.Rajinder Prasad Damral, Dy.Divisional Warden highlighted the Civil Defence activities. Sh.Inderjit Singh, Sarpanch of the area was also present on the occasion and appreciated the role of Civil Defence. Moreover, on 27-6-2013, one day awareness camp was also organized by Civil Defence Nowshera under the command of Sh.Suresh Kumar, Dy.SP I/C Dy.Controller Nowhsera at Municpal Committee Hall Nowshera. During the camp, Sh.Mohd Bashir, Executive officer Municipal Committee was the chief guest and Sh.Vainder Pal Singh, Sanatry Inspector Nowshera was the guest of honour. About 40 civilians participated in the camp and were acquainted with the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • CD JAMMU: On 08-06-2013, Civil Defence awareness camp was organized at Maharaja Hari Singh Agriculture college Nagbani Jammu. During the camp, about 200 people participated and were acquainted with first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operations.
  • CD ANANTNAG : On 14-6-2013, Civil Defence Anantnag organized one day awareness camp at Kabamarg Shrine Anantnag in which a large number of devotees participated and assisted by Civil Defence volunteers. Moreover, Civil Defence wardens enrolment meeting was also organized by CD Anantnag on 01-6-2013 to enroll the new Civil Defence wardens as per the instruction of Directorate of HG/CD & SDRF J&K.
  • CD POONCH: Civil Defence Poonch organized two awareness camps one at Panchayat Ghar Gursai Mouri Mendhar and second at Govt. Girls High School Drabha Surankote on 15-6-2013 and 28-6-2013 respectively. During these camps a large number of students/staff members participated and were made aware about first aid, fire-fighting, rescue operations during disaster by the CD instructors.
  • CD DODA : Civil Defence Doda organized awareness camp at Gatha Tehsil Bhaderwah on 15-6-2013 and 17-6-2013. During the camp a large number of civilians participated and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disasters by the Civil Defence experts. Moreover, on 19-6-2013 Civil Defence Doda organized two awareness camps one at Gandoh and second at Govt. Polytechnic college Bhaderwah. During the camp general masses were acquainted with first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operations during disasters.
  • CD LEH : On 15-6-2013, Civil Defence Leh organized one day first responder training course at CD Unit Leh Ladakh in which about 100 civilians participated and were acquainted with Civil Defence and disaster Mangement by the CD/SDRF instructors.
  • CD KARGIL : On 17-6-2013, Civil Defence Kargil organized three day’s Civil Defence awareness camp at District Police Lines Kargil. During the camp, about 170 VHGs/CD Volunteers participated and were briefed about the first aid, fire-fighting and disaster management by the CD instructors.
  • CD SRINAGAR: On the occasion of Mehraj-u-Alam (SAW), Civil Defence Srinagar organized 05 day’s awareness cum first aid camp at Hazratbal Shrine Srinagar. During the camp, Civil Defence volunteers assisted the district administration in facilitating the pilgrims as well as traffic management. Moreover, Civil Defence Cricket team also conducted T-20 Cricket matches at University of Kashmir on 16-6-2013 and 27-6-2013.
  • CD SRINAGAR: On the eve of Mela Kheer Bhawani, Civil Defence Srinagar organized two days awareness cum first aid camp at Tulmulla Ganderbal on 17th & 18th June 2013. During the camp, Civil Defence wardens/volunteers alongwith staff members participated. Moreover, on the instruction of Smt.D.R.Doley Barman, IPS ADGP HG/CD & SDRF J&K teams of Civil Defence volunteers and professional SDRF personnel were deputed to Tulmullah for providing assistance to pilgrims visiting on the occasion and to face any eventuality if arises.

    One day Civil Defence awareness camp conducted on 18-06-2013 at Govt High School Madha Udhampur
    CD UDHAMPUR : On 18-06-2013, Civil Defence Udhampur organised two awareness camp at Govt. High School and Govt. Middle School Madha Udhampur. During the camps, about 350 students/staff members participated and were briefed about first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation by CD/SDRF instructors. Moreover, on the eve of Sudhmahadev Mela, three day’s CD awareness camp was also conducted w.e.f. 22-6-2013 at Sudhmahadev Udhampur in which huge number of civilians participated.
  • CD SAMBA : Civil Defence Samba organised five day’s CD training camp at Madoon Camp border Samba w.e.f. 18-6-2013 to 22-6-2013. During the camp 67 Civil Defence volunteers participated and were imparted Civil Defence training in First Aid, Fire-fighting and rescue operation during disaster. Live Civil Defence rescue operation demonstration was also conducted by experts for effective CD training. Moreover, awareness camps were also conducted among the Sh.Amarnath Yatries by Civil Defence Samba near Chichi Mata Temple on 26-6-2013 and 28-6-2013. During these camps, Civil Defence wardens/volunteers briefed the piligrims about their journey towards Shri Amarnath Ji and guided for safety measures and precautions during any eventuality.
  • CD DODA : On 20-6-2013, Civil Defence Doda organised one day awareness camps at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Khellani Doda and Hospital Road Bhaderwah. During the camps, Civil Defence instructors briefed the participants who were acquainted with first aid, fire fighting and rescue operations during disaster.
  • CD POONCH : Civil Defence Poonch organized five days Civil Defence Basic training camp at Surankote Poonch w.e.f. 20/6/2013 to 24/6/2013. During the camp, about 305 NCC cadets of 1st NCC 93 Inft. Bde ATY Bn. participated and were imparted disaster management training in fire-fighting, earthquake and rescue operation etc. by the Civil Defence and SDRF instructors.

    CD ANANTNAG : Civil Defence Anantnag organized five day’s CD training camp at Govt. Higher Secondary School Dialgam w.e.f. 20-6-2013 to 25-06-2013. During the camp, about 200 students participated and were imparted CD training in fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operations by the CD/SDRF instructors. Moreover, Civil Defence Anantnag also organized Table Talk and Mock Drill Exercise at Nunwan Pahalgam on 24th & 25th June 2013.
  • CD DODA: Civil Defence Doda organized one day awareness camps at Govt. Middle School Bhaderwah and at Govt. City Middle School Doda on 21-6-2013 and 22-6-2013 respectively. During the camps, a large no. of students participated and were briefed about role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • CD UDHAMPUR : Civil Defence Udhampur organised one day’s awareness camps at Govt. Hr. Sec. School and Govt. Girls High School Chenani Udhampur on 21-06-2013. During the camps, about 400 students/staff members participated and were acquainted with the role and importance of Civil Defence during disasters.
  • CD KATHUA: On 24-6-2013, Civil Defence Kathua organized one day awareness camp in Kathua town. During the camp, 114 newly enrolled CD wardens/VHGs of Kathua participated. Sh.Santokh Raj, Dy.SP Dy.Controller CD Kathua and Dr.Ashok Malhotra, Dy.Divisional Warden delivered lectures on the role and importance of Civil Defence during disasters. Civil Defence literature, related to safety measures of different calamities were also distributed among the participants on the occasion. Moreover, one day awareness camps were also conducted among the Sh.Amarnath Yatries by Civil Defence Kathua at Toll Plaza Lakhanpur and Chhan Arorian Kathua on 26-6-2013 and 30-6-2013 respectively. During these camps, Civil Defence wardens/volunteers briefed the piligrims about their journey towards Shri Amarnath Ji and guided for safety measures and precautions to be taken during any eventuality. Civil Defence literatures were also distributed among the yatries.

    CD UDHAMPUR : Civil Defence Udhampur organised one day awareness camps at Govt. High School Panjar and Govt. Middle School Kothi Lair block Panchari Udhampur on 24-06-2013 in which about 550 students including staff members participated and were briefed about first aid, fire fighting and rescue operations by the CD/SDRF instructors. Moreover, On 26-06-2013, one day CD awareness camp was organised at Govt. Hr.Sec. School Sudhmahadev Udhampur. During the camp, about 350 students/staff members participated and were made aware about disaster and role of Civil Defence during disasters. The camp was organized under the supervision of Sh.Bodh Raj, Dy.SP Dy.Controller CD Udhampur.
  • CD SUNDERBANI : On 26-6-2013, Civil Defence Sunderbani organized one day awareness camp at International Public High School Bajabain Sunderbani. During the camp, about 90 students/staff members participated and were briefed about disaster management like fire-fighing, earthquake, flood etc by the Civil Defence instructors.
  • CD AKHNOOR : Civil Defence Akhnoor organized five days CD training camp at village Bharda Kalan Akhnoor w.e.f. 28-6-2013 to 03-7-2013. During the camp 40 CD volunteers participated and were imparted Basic CD training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operation during disaster by Civil Defence instructors. Smt.Kuldeep Kour, Divisional Warden Akhnoor was also present on the occasion and highlighted the Civil Defence activities of the town.
  • CD RAJOURI: On 28-6-2013, Civil Defence Rajouri organized one day awareness camp at Mandolya Rajouri in which about 80 people participated and were made aware about the Civil Defence and its importance during disaster.
  • CD AWANTIPURA : Civil Defence Pulwama organised five day’s CD training camps at Govt. Higher Secondary School Samboora and Govt. Hr.Sec. School Hall Pulwama w.e.f. 13-6-2013 to 22-6-2013 and 21-6-2013 to 27-6-2013 respectively. During these camps a large number of students participated and were imparted Civil Defence Basic Training in fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operations by the instructors of Civil Defence and SDRF. Moreover, a live demonstration on rescue operations was also conducted for providing effective training among the participants.
  • CD BUDGAM : Civil Defence Budgam organised five day’s CD training camps at Govt. Higher Secondary School Wagura and Govt. Hr.Sec. School Hardu Panzoo w.e.f. 03-6-2013 to 08-6-2013 and 10-6-2013 to 14-06-2013 respectively. During these camps, about 101 students participated and were imparted Civil Defence Basic Training in fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operations by the instructors of Civil Defence and SDRF.
  • CD BARAMULLA : On 05-06-2013, Civil Defence Baramulla organized one day awareness camp at Govt. Higher Secondary School Palhalan Pattan Baramulla. During the camp, about 200 students participated and were made aware about the Civil Defence and its importance during disaster. Also, on 12-6-2013, Civil Defence Baramulla organized one day awareness camp at Govt.Boys High School Jahama Baramulla in which about 200 students/staff participated and were acquainted with activities of Civil Defence and disaster management by the CD/SDRF experts.
  • CD KUPWARA : Civil Defence Kupwara organised one day awareness camp at Tikker Kupwara and Govt. High School Khumriyal Kupwara on 17-06-2013 and 18-6-2013 respectively. During these camps, about 500 student/locals participated and were briefed about the Civil Defence and disaster management by the CD/SDRF instructors.

  • CD URI : Civil Defence Uri organized 05 day’s CD training camp at CD Unit Uri w.e.f. 24-6-2013. During the camp, about 100 Civil Defence volunteers participated and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Deence during disaster by the Civil Defence instructors.
  • CD KUPWARA: On 24-06-2013, Civil Defence Kupwara organized one day awareness camp at Darul Salam Shams –Ul-Islam School Magam in which about 300 students/staff members participated. During the camp, Civil Defence instructors briefed the participants about the Civil Defence and Disaster Management. Also, on 25-6-2013, CD Kupwara organized one day awareness camp at Pahripath Handwara in which about 200 students were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • CD KUPWARA : Five day’s Civil Defence Basic training camp was organised by CD Kupwara at Govt. High School Pahripath Handwara w.e.f. 25-6-2013 to 29-6-2013. During the camp, 200 students/staff members participated and were imparted Civil Defence training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations by the CD/SDRF instructors.
  • CD JAMMU: On 26-05-2013, fire broke out in two trains Shalimar Express and Ahmadabad Express in Railway Yard at platform No.1. On getting information Sh.R.Vijay Magotra, Dy.Divisional Warden alongwith CD volunteers reached on the spot and joined the rescue operation to assist the Fire brigade and administration.
  • CD ANANTNAG : Five day’s CD Training camp was organised by CD Anantnag at Govt. Hr.Sec.School Qazigund w.e.f. 01-7-2013 to 06-7-2013. During the camp about 100 students participated and were imparted CD training in fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation. Moreover another 05 day’s Civil Defence training camp was organized at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Dooru w.e.f. 09-7-2013 to 15-7-2013 in which about 100 students were imparted training in Civil Defence skills.
  • CD GANDERBAL: Civil Defence Unit Ganderbal organised two awareness camps at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Ganderbal on 01-07-2013 and 13-7-2013. During the camps, a large number of students and staff members participated and were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster by the CD/SDRF instructors.
  • CD RAJOURI : Civil Defence Rajouri organized two CD training camps one at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Budhal w.e.f. 01-7-2013 and another at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Kotranka w.e.f. 08-7-2013. During these camps, about 150 students were imparted CD Basic Training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations by the CD instructors. Moreover one day awareness camp was also organized at S.R.College Rajouri on 06-7-2013 in which about 90 students participated and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • CD BARAMULLA : Civil Defence Baramulla conducted one day awareness cum mock drill exercise at Govt. Boys High School Kanshipora and Govt. Boys High School Chackloo Baramulla on 03-6-2013 and on 06-07-2013 respectively. During these camps a large number of students participated and were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence by Civil Defence experts and also about rescue operations through Mock Drill Exercise.
  • CD URI : Civil Defence Uri organised 05 day’s Civil Defence training camp at Boys High School Isham Uri w.e.f. 04-7-2013 to 10-7-2013. During the camp about 100 students participated and were imparted CD training in first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation by CD instructors.
  • CD AWANTIPURA : Five day’s Civil Defence training camp was organized by CD Unit Pulwama at Muntique Memorial Hr. Sec. School Awantipora Pulwama w.e.f. 04-7-2013 to 10-7-2013. More than 350 students/ staff members participated in the camp and were imparted Civil Defence training in various skills like rescue operation, fire-fighting, first aid etc. by the Civil Defence instructors.
  • CD POONCH : On 06-7-2013, Civil Defence demonstrations were given to the district Police personnel at DPL Poonch by the CD/SDRF instructors. Civil Defence Poonch also organised awareness camp on 20-7-2013 at Govt. Middle School Jhullas Poonch in which 50 students participated and were acquainted with CD activities and their importance during disaster. Moreover, 05 day’s CD training camp was organized at Govt. Hr.Sec. School Gursai Mouri w.e.f. 22-7-2013 to 26-7-2013 in which 70 students were imparted training in first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation by the CD instructors.
  • CD ANANTNAG : On 08-7-2013 Civil Defence Anantnag organized one day awareness camp at GN.Memorial Institute Vailoo Kokernag in which about 100 employees participated and were acquainted with the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster. Civil Defence Anantnag also organized five day’s CD training camp at Govt. Degree College Bijbihara w.e.f. 24-07-2013 to 29-7-2013. During the camp about 500 students participated and were imparted CD Basic training in first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operations by the CD/SDRF instructors.

    CD BARAMULLA : On 09-07-2013 and 10-7-2013, Civil Defence Baramulla conducted Awareness cum Mock Drill Exercise camps at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Fatehgarh and Army Goodwill School Boniyar Sopora respectively. During the camps, a large number of students/staff members participated and were acquainted with Civil Defence rescue operations and role of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • CD BUDGAM : Civil Defence Budgam organised five day’s CD training camp at Higher Secondary School Khansahib w.e.f. 10-7-2013 to 16-7-2013 in which more than 100 student/staff members participated. During the camp, the participants were imparted CD training in disaster mitigation and management.
  • CD SUNDERBANI : On 13-7-2013, Civil Defence Sunderbani organized one day awareness camp at Gurugang Dev Ji Sanskrit Mahavidhyala Shiv Kashi Ashram Sunderbani, During the camp, about 100 students/staff members participated and were briefed about Earthquake, Fire-fighting and first aid by the CD instructors. Moreover, Civil Defence Sunderbani also conducted rescue operation during a road accident which took place between two trucks at Dhakdha.
  • CD AKHNOOR : Civil Defence Akhnoor organized five day’s CD Training camp at ‘Sunder Singh Ji’ Gurdwara Akhnoor w.e.f. 17-7-2013 to 22-7-2013. During the camp, about 59 CD volunteers participated and were imparted CD training in various CD skills. Moreover, one day awareness camp was also organized by CD Akhnoor in ward No.12 on 29-7-2013 in which 50 civilians participated and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • CD UDHAMPUR : On 20-7-2013, one day CD awareness camp was organized at Kalsote, Panchari in which about 50 civilians participated. During the camp, participants were made aware about Civil Defence and disaster management under the supervision of Sh.Bodh Raj, Dy.SP Dy.Controller CD Udhampur
  • CD SHOPIAN : Civil Defence Unit Shopian organized five day’s CD training camp at DIET Shopian w.e.f.. 22-7-2013 in which about 150 civilians participated and were imparted Civil Defence training in first aid, fire-fighting, rescue operations etc.
  • CD DODA : Civil Defence Doda organized two awareness camps at village Deoli on 24-7-2013 and at Noori Hanga Bhaderwah on 23-7-2013 in which about 300 civilians participated and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence. Moreover, CD training camp was also organized at Govt. Hr. Sec.     A view of Civil Defence awareness camp organized at Rachpal Memorial Convent School Kathua
    CD KATHUA : On 24-7-2013, Civil Defence Kathua organised one day awareness camp at Nav Adarsh Hr. Sec. School Kathua in which about 120 students/ staff members participated. On the occasion Sh.Dhian Chand, Chief Warden and Dr.Ashok Malhotra Dy.Divisional Warden delivered lectures on first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation during disasters. Moreover, another CD awareness camp was also organised at Rachhpal Memorial Convent School Kathua in which about 100 students /staff participated on 29-7-2013. Civil Defence literature was also distributed on the occasion. Sh.Santokh Raj, Dy.SP Dy.Controller CD Kathua addressed the participated and highlighted the Civil Defence activities and its importance during disaster.

    CD SAMBA: On 25-7-2013, CD Samba organized one day awareness camp at National High School Samba in which about 100 students participated and were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence. Moreover, five day’s CD training camp was also organized at Harsat Ghagwal w.e.f. 26-7-2013 to 31-7-2013. During the camp about 120 civilians were imparted training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operation by the CD instructors under the supervision of Sh.Sudershan Mehta, Dy.SP I/C Dy.Controller CD Samba.
  • CD NOWSHERA: Five day’s CD training camp was organized by CD Nowshera at Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School Nowshera w.e.f.30-7-2013. During the camp about, 50 students participated and were imparted CD training in first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operations.
