DIRECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE J&K HIGHLIGHTED THE ROLE OF CIVIL DEFENCE DURING 6TH CIVIL DEFENCE WARDEN’S CONFERENCE IN JAMMU

Civil Defence is one of the important pillar of a vibrant society where volunteers lend their time and energy for the welfare of people and impress others by their commitment and discipline, expressed by Shri Ashok Prasad, IPS Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, who is also Commandant General Home Guards & Director Civil Defence, J&K while inaugurating 6th Civil Defence Wardens Conference J&K on 28th March 2013 held at Conference Hall of Central Training Institute of HG/CD Jammu.

In his inaugural address, Shri Ashok Prasad, IPS said that Civil Defence (CD) is an important instrument of administration which can be harnessed in hour of distress. He said that constant training and development of skills is imperative to minimise the loss of life and property in any eventuality. He said that the role of CD volunteers need to be recognized by the society as it is the zeal and commitment of the volunteers, which many times helped the civil administration to face any catastrophic eventuality besides to take preventive measures.

The DGP stressed that civil community need to be prepared and kept alert in order to form the security surveillance by utilizing the services of CD personnel for crime control and disaster management. He emphasized for preparedness and extending help to those who are in acute distress during disasters to save human lives with courage and confidence.

Deliberating on the objectives of the One Day Conference, Shri Ashok Prasad, IPS said that during the conference, important functionaries of CD from across the state would discuss important issues and further requirements to make the Organization more vibrant. He said that the conference would provide platform to the participants to deliberate on geophysical features of the State and its vulnerability to disasters, besides pre-hospital management of victims of disasters and fire fighting measures.

Speaking about the achievements, the DGP said that the Organization has extended its activities from town centric to rural areas. Enrolment of wardens and volunteers has been taken up in the rural areas also, while 23,535 CD volunteers were trained in basic skills like fire fighting, first aid and rescue. Besides 174 awareness camps were organized during the past one year and 47 rescue operations were conducted at different places in the state, he added.

Shri Prasad stressed upon the organizers and participants to come up with their valuable suggestions and proposals which could help in strengthening the Civil Defence Organization in the State. He said that every support will be provided to the Organization to make it more effective and people friendly.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Home-guards/Civil Defence and SDRF, Shri Yoginder Kaul,IPS said that the conference would provide opportunity to sit together and discuss the things of concern and plan future strategies. He said that it would also inculcate healthy traditions and strengthen our activities. He further said that the Organization has been conducting training courses to acquaint the volunteers about the latest techniques of disaster management and fire fighting and such training programmes would continue in future to inculcate discipline and courage among the volunteers.

He said that during the year 2012 a group of 37 volunteers of CD from across the State was sent for Bharat Darshan under CAP in order to have a firsthand exposure outside the State and interact with the CD volunteers of other Sates of the country. He thanked the government and the DGP for their active support and encouragement to CD Organization which has helped its scope to other activities.

During the conference, several speakers gave series of lectures on the role of Civil Defence in times of calamities. In the day long Conference, detailed question answer session was held in which several points regarding improvements in the Organization were raised and discussed. The speakers who deliberated on different topics during the Conference included Prof. GM Bhat of Jammu University, Dr. Ranbushan from Health Services and Shri R.K Raina from Fire & Emergency Services. The day long proceedings were summarized up by Shri Vikas Gupta,SP Div. Comdt, Hgds Jammu.

Mubarak Ahmed Ganai,IPS, Staff Officer to ADGP Shri R.S Manhas,SP, Shri Ghulam Sarwar Chouhan, SSP, Director Prosecution (PHQ), Shri M.A Pandita, , Dy.SsP, Shri Dushyant Sharma and Shri S.K. Bakshi, Chief Wardens and CD volunteers and other Police officers.


 

IMPLEMENTATION OF URBAN RISK REDUCTION IN THE CAPITAL CITY OF JAMMU

On 05-01-2013 one-day awareness camp was organised by Civil Defence Jammu on the topic "Implementation of Urban Risk Reduction in the Capital City of Jammu". Sh. Yoginder Kaul, IPS Inspector General of Police Homeguards / Civil Defence & SDRF, J&K was the chief guest and Sh.Sham Lal Sharma, IPS, Dy Inspector General of Police Homeguards / Civil Defence & SDRF, Jammu was guest of honour, besides Sh.Ghulam Sarwar Chouhan, SSP, Commandant SDRF 2nd Bn, Jammu, Sh.Ranbir Singh Manhas, SP, Staff Officer to ADGP, Homeguards / Civil Defence & SDRF, J&K, were also present during the function. Sh.Jugal Mahajan, Chief Warden CD Town, Jammu and others Civil Defence Wardens were also present in the function.

No.1) delivered their valuable lectures on the topic "Implementation of Urban Risk Reduction in the Capital City of Jammu”.

Speaking on the occasion Sh.Yoginder Kaul, IPS Inspector General of Police Homeguards / Civil Defence & SDRF, J&K appreciated the role of Civil Defence Jammu for their performance during the year 2012 and stressed the need for organising high level Civil Defence demonstration in the old Jammu city. Sh.Sham Lal Sharma, IPS, Dy Inspector General of Police Homeguards / Civil Defence & SDRF, Jammu also highlighted the role of Civil Defence during natural / man-made disasters. He also stressed the need of conducting awareness programmes in schools / colleges & rural areas. A large number of police officers / officials, Civil Defence Wardens /Volunteers & school children witnessed the function. The said function was organised on the guidelines of Sh.Sanjeev Verma, IAS, Dy Commissioner-cum-Controller Civil Defence, Jammu. The programme was conducted under the close supervision of Sh.Dushyant Sharma, Dy Controller Civil Defence, Jammu. Ms.Tanima Dutta winner of the debate competition compared the whole programme which was highly appreciated.

At the end of the function Sh.Jugal Mahajan, Chief Warden CD Town Jammu thanked the Chief Guest and all officers / Civil Defence Wardens / Volunteers and others for attending the function.


 

J&K STATE DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE CELEBRATED FIRST RAISING DAY

First Annual Raising Day of SDRF was celebrated by SDRF 2nd Bn. Hqrs, at Gulshan Ground, Gandhi Nagar Jammu on 19-01-2013. IGP HG/CD and SDRF, Sh.Yoginder Kaul ,IPS was the Chief Guest while DIG HG/CD and SDRF, Sh.Sham Lal Sharma,IPS was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.

A Guard of honour was presented to IGP and Darbar of Jawans was also held. Welcoming the Chief Guest and others, Commandant of the Bn. Sh.Gh. Sarwar Chouhan, SSP gave profile of the Bn. for the last one year.

In his address, Sh.Kaul stressed for professionalism of the SDRF force and also gave profile of the whole organisation. A cultural programme was also organised in which Sh. Jia Lal Sharma, Sh.Romesh Parwana, Smt.Purnima Verma, Smt. Zulikha Farid, Sh. Ashok Anjum and Sh.Sumant Dogra participated.

Besides, Sh.Ranbir Singh, SP, SO to ADGP, Dy. SP S K Bakshi, Dy.SP Chanderjeet Singh, Dy.SP Nazir Ahmed Ganai, Dy.SP Ajay Sharma of SDRF 2nd Bn., Dy. Controller CD Jammu Dushant Sharma , Area Comdr HG Jammu Parveen Singh ,Dy.SP, and Surdeshan Mehta, Dy. Controller CD Samba were also present.

Similarly, SDRF 1st Bn. Srinagar also celebrated its 1st Annual Raising Day at SDRF Headquarters Burzalla Srinagar. Sh.Mubarak Ahmad Ganai, Dy Inspector General of Police, Home Guards , Civil Defence & SDRF Kashmir was the Chief Guest. He took salute of March Past and inspected the parade. Speaking on the occasion Shri Ganai stressed upon the jawans that SDRF was created to save lives of people in the event of any disaster. He implored the jawans to work with dedication, devotion and sincerity. He made them aware of their responsibilities towards people at the time of disaster. He said that three batches of SDRF have been imparted specialized disaster preparedness and response training and that some selected jawans would be sent for further specialized training outside the State. He stressed the SDRF jawans to work hard so that they can become a role model for others.

CIVIL DEFENCE UDHAMPUR ORGANISED AWARENESS CAMP ON DISASTER MANAGEMENT AT NHPC JYOTIPURAM IN DISTRICT REASI

To sensitise the functionaries of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) regarding the potential dangers of hydel potentialities specially on mountainous region which are prone to natural disaster, the Civil Defence Organisation emphasized upon the tactics and mechanism to be adhered to for minimising the loss of life and property during a one day awareness camp on Disaster Management and Earthquakes in the premises of NHPC, Jyotipuram in district Reasi on 12-02-2013.

The camp was organised by the Civil Defence Organisation, Udhampur under the guidance of IGP, Home Guard, Civil Defence and SDRF, Sh.Yoginder Kaul. Deputy Controller, Civil Defence. Dy SP Bodh Raj, General Manager, NHPC, Sh.Chander Mohan, Chief Engineer NHPC, Sh.Rajeev Jerth, officers and staff members of the corporation were present on the occasion. Deputy Controller, Civil Defence. Sh. Bodh Raj,Dy.SP in his welcome address gave a detailed account of the working of the organisation. He said that main motive behind for organizing the awareness camp in the Corporation was to make the functionaries aware to deal with any situation in case of disaster. While appreciating the role of Civil Defence Organisation, the General Manager NHPC urged upon the Civil Defence Organisation to hold such valuable awareness camps in near future also. Master Trainers Sh.Kuldeep Singh and Sh.Vikas Sharma delivered lectures regarding taking preventive measure to be taken before, during and after the disaster. Deputy Chief Warden, Advocate Swatantar Dev Kotwal also delivered lecture on various facets of Civil Defence and also conducted the proceedings of the programme.


 

SEVEN DAY’S BHARAT DARSHAN TOUR PROGRAMME FLAGGED OFF

Sh.Yoginder Kaul, IPS IGP HG/CD & SDRF J&K alongwith Sh.Sham Lal Sharma, IPS DIG HG/CD & SDRF Jammu flagged off the Bharat Darshans’ team of Civil Defence J&K organized under Civic Action Programme at SDRF 2nd Bn. Jammu

A 07 day’s tour Programme of Bharat Darshan sanctioned by Police Headquarter J&K Jammu under Civic Action Programme for 37 Civil Defence volunteers/wardens of J&K 17 from Kashmir Valley and 20 from Jammu and 04 officers/officials of HG/CD & SDRF J&K for Jammu-Chandigarh-Jaipur-Ajmer-Delhi was flagged off on 08.03.2013 by Sh. Yoginder Kaul, IPS, Inspector General of Police, HG/CD & SDRF J&K at SDRF 2nd Bn. HQrs. Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
The team, besides sightseeing, have interaction with Civil Defence Warden services of respective states to gain firsthand knowledge regarding their working at all the above places including CD authorities New Delhi and study broader prospects of functioning to meet any eventuality/disasters in the state in a more planned manner. The officers of the organization present on the occasion were Sh. Sham Lal Sharma, IPS, DIG HG/CD & SDRF Jammu, Sh. Gh. Sarwar Chouhan, SSP Commandant SDRF IInd. Bn, Sh.Vikas Gupta, SP Divisional Commandant HG Jammu, Sh. Ranbir Manhas, SP Staff Officer to ADGP, HG/CD & SDRF J&K, and other senior officers of the organization and warden service.


 

ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON CIVIL DEFENCE, DISASTER MITIGATION, MANMADE/NATURAL DISASTER CONDUCTED AT SDRF 2ND BN. JAMMU

An impressive one day workshop on Civil Defence, Disaster Mitigation, Manmade/Natural Disaster was held at SDRF 2nd Bn. Jammu on 26-03-2013 was inaugurated by Sh.Yoginder Kaul, IPS IGP HG/CD & SDRF J&K. Sh. Gh. Sarwar Chauhan, SSP Commandant SDRF 2nd Bn. Jammu and Dy.SP S.K. Bakshi (Co-ordinator) presented the brief resume and other details of the work shop after welcoming the Chief Guest and other participants. A number of Guest lecturers namely Dr.S.D. Choudhary Dy. SP, Sh. R. K. Raina Divisional Fire Officer, Dr. Rajinder Thappa Dy. Divisional Warden, Sh. Paramjeet Kumar Dy. Chief Warden, and Sh. Shashi Kohli Dy. Divisional Warden delivered valuable lectures and were also present during the closing ceremony. Besides, mementos were also presented to the guest lecturers etc. The main purpose to conduct this workshop was to prepare the Jawans of the recently declared STATE DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE to meet any eventuality whether Natural or man-made disaster in a better and technical way. Sh. Sham Lal Sharma IPS, DIG HG/CD & SDRF Jammu stressed upon to conduct more and more vocational and regular trainings of the Jawans viz-viz the physical endurance training so that at the time of need they are able to meet the challenges to save the life and property of the people.


 

06 DAY’S COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING SERVICE (COPS) COURSE UNDER PILOT PROJECT SCHEME CONDUCTED AT JAMMU AND UDHAMPUR W.E.F. 11/2/2013 TO 16/2/2013.

CD Jammu: 06 day’s Community Oriented Policing Service (COPS) course under pilot project scheme was started at CTI, Homeguards / Civil Defence, Jammu in which 20 Civil Defence Wardens / Volunteers participated. The main aim of the course was to involve the civil community with police for handling internal security and law & order situations. Sh.Youginder Kaul,IPS Inspector General of Police, Homeguards / Civil Defence & SDRF J&K who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, highlighted the role of Civil Defence. Sh.Sham Lal Sharma,IPS Dy .Inspector General of Police, HG/CD & SDRF Jammu also highlighted the Civil Defence activities & need for increasing the strength of Civil Defence Volunteers in the CD Town, Jammu.

Among other police officers & Civil Defence Wardens who were present during the occasion include Sh.Gh. At the inauguration function Sh.Dushyant Sharma, Dy Controller Civil Defence, Jammu briefed the Chief Guest, senior police officers and Civil Defence Wardens for the conduct of 06 Day’s Community Oriented Policing Service (COPS) course under pilot project scheme at CTI, Homeguards / Civil Defence, Jammu. He said basic training is very useful for the volunteers as well as the society as a whole to minimize the damages, caused to the human life and properties during any type of disasters.

CD Udhampur: Stressing for greater need to carry out Civil Defence activities in rural areas of the district, the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Sh.P.K Pole who is also the Controller of Civil Defence exhorted upon the CD volunteers to educate the common masses in their respective areas about the activities of the organisation for effective disaster management during 06 Day’s Community Oriented Policing Service (COPS) course under pilot project scheme which was started at Udhampur. Addressing the CD functionaries in general and volunteers in particular, he said that it is the need of the hour to aware the general masses about the natural and manmade disaster and steps required to be taken for their timely management.

He exhorted upon the volunteers regarding the selfless role of Civil Defence Organisation in educating the general masses about diverse issues of pubic interests, disaster management and community policing, besides mobilising the citizens in helping civil administration in a big way in the event of any natural or manmade disasters. Earlier, Deputy Controller, Civil Defence, Udhampur, Dy SP Bodh Raj gave brief resume of the Pilot Project Scheme and Civil Defence activities in urban and rural areas of district Udhampur. He apprised that 40 districts of the country have been selected by the Government of India (GOI) for imparting COPS training programme under Pilot Project Scheme and Jammu and Udhampur districts of J and K State are also among those. Chief Warden, Sh.Surinder Khajuria presented vote of thanks during the occasion. Beside others, the function was attended by Deputy Chief Warden Advocate Swatantra Dev Kotwal, Civil Defence Wardens, Master Trainers, staff and volunteers.


 

DISASTER PREPAREDNESS SYMPOSIUM HELD AT GANDERBAL BY CIVIL DEFENCE SRINAGAR

Disaster Preparedness training and intra school symposium was organized by Civil Defence Srinagar on 30-3-2013 at New Dreamland Educational Institute Ganderbal. More than 150 students participated in the programme and Ms.Anisa Hamid of class 8th stood first, Miss.Shah Zarafshan of class 9th second and Master Umar Farooq of class 9th stood third. Four consolation prizes were also distributed amongst Gausia Fayaz (Class 8th), Ms.Mansha Khursheed (Class 9th), Master Shahrukh Ahad (8th) and Master Faisal Qadir (8th). The programme was inaugurated by Sh.Mehraj-Ud-din Shah, SP Commandant SDRF 1st Bn. Srinagar.


 

ACTIVITIES IN BRIEF :

  • CD Udhampur: 05 days Civil Defence training camp was organized at Govt. High School Roundmail Udhampur w.e.f. 01-1-2013 to 05-1-2013.

    During the training camp, 71 students were imparted CD training in various Civil Defence skills i.e. Fire-fighting, First Aid, Rescue operations by Civil Defence and SDRF instructors. Moreover, another 05 day’s training camp in two shifts were also organized by CD Udhampur at Govt. High School Thanoia in which 93 students were imparted Civil Defence basic training. Sh.Bodh Raj, Dy.SP Dy.Controller Civil Defence Udhampur briefed the participants during these camps and highlighted the role and activity of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • CD Baramulla: On 02-1-2013, Civil Defence Baramulla organized one day Civil Defence workshop at DIET Baramulla in which about 200 CD volunteers participated and were briefed about the Civil Defence activities and Disaster preparedness. Moreover, one day CD awareness camp was also organized at DIET Pattan on 04-01-2013 in which about 120 CD volunteers participated.
  • CD Poonch: Civil Defence Poonch organized 05 day’s CD training camps at Govt. High School Chandak Poonch w.e.f. 05-1-2013 and Govt. High School Challas Poonch w.e.f. 14-1-2013. During the camps, participants were imparted Civil Defence Basic Training in rescue operation, fire-fighting, first aid etc by the Civil Defence and SDRF instructors.
  • CD Udhampur : Civil Defence Udhampur in collaboration with Traffic department organized a traffic awareness rally at National Highway Udhampur on 05-1-2013. During the rally, general masses were made aware about the Traffic rules and its importance.
  • CD Kathua : On 05/1/2013 Civil Defence Kathua organized one day CD awareness camp at Gobindsar Kathua in which about 250 people participated and were briefed about the importance of Civil Defence during disaster. Moreover, two days Civil Defence awareness camp was also organized at Railway Station Kathua by Civil Defence Kathua w.e.f. 08-1-2013 to 09-1-2013.

    Dr.I.P.S. Bali, Divisional Warden CD Baramulla imparted first aid training among the CD volunteers during 05 days CD training camp at Baramulla
    CD Baramulla : Five days Civil Defence training programme was organized by CD Baramulla at District Police Line Baramulla w.e.f. 08-01-2013 to 12-01-2013. More than 200 Police personnel were imparted basic training on First Aid, Drug Abuse, Post disaster and rescue operations. Dr.Anayat Mir, Chief Warden Baramulla throw light on the origin of Civil Defence in India and its role in Disaster Mitigation. Dr.I.P.S Bali, Divisional Warden demonstrated the latest techniques in handling the injured persons during disaster and importance of golden hours for first responders. Moreover, a demonstration on rescue operations were also conducted by SDRF team on the occasion.
  • CD Sunderbani : Civil Defence Sunderbani organized five days CD training camp at Govt. Degree College Sunderbani w.e.f. 08-01-2013 to 14-1-2013.

    During the camp, 140 students participated and were imparted CD training in various Civil Defence skills by the Civil Defence and SDRF instructors. Moreover, CD volunteers/wardens were also deployed on Republic day duty with local police at Govt. High School Kalideh, Sunderbani.
  • CD Doda : Civil Defence Doda conducted rescue operation during road accident at Suidwari Doda on 08-1-2013 and at Bhalla Bhaderwah on 16-1-2013. During the rescue operation, victims were shifted to district hospital in Civil Defence Ambulance and also provided first aid on the spot by Civil Defence wardens/volunteers of District Doda.
  • CD Rajouri: On 09-01-2013, Civil Defence Rajouri organized one day awareness camp at Govt. Higher Secondary School Thanamandi, Rajouri. During the camp about 100 students participated and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster. Moreover, Civil Defence wardens/volunteers were also performed Naka Duty with Local Police during Republic Day 2013.
  • CD Samba: On 09-01-2013, Civil Defence Samba organized one day awareness camp at village Supwal Samba in which about 125 people participated and were briefed about Civil Defence and Disaster Management. Civil Defence Samba also organized five days Civil Defence training camp at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Smailpur w.e.f. 05-1-2013 to 17-1-2013. During the camp, 42 students were imparted Civil Defence training in fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operations by Civil Defence and SDRF instructors.
  • CD Akhnoor : On 09-1-2013, Civil Defence town Akhnoor organized one day awareness camp at Exchange Road ward No.9 Akhnoor in which about 40 people of locality participated and were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence.

    CD Anantnag : On 12-01-2013, Civil Defence Anantnag organized one CD awareness camp on Disaster preparedness at conference hall of CD Anantnag in which about 200 CD volunteers/staff members participated and were briefed about Disaster preparedness. Moreover, one day CD awareness cum first aid camp was also organized at Kabamarg Shrine on 25-1-2013.
  • CD Samba: On 15-1-2013, One day CD awareness camp was organsied at Adarsh Vidya Peeth Hr. Sec.School Samba in which about 350 students including staff members also participated. During the camp, Sh.Sudershan Mehta, I/C Dy.Controller Samba briefed the participants about Civil Defence and disaster manangement. Moreover, one day CD awareness camp was also organized at Govt. Primary School Kalibari in which about 100 persons participated and were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster.
  • CD Baramulla : On 15-01-2013, one day CD awareness camp was organized at Warpora Sopore in which about 400 volunteers participated and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster. Moreover, one day CD awareness cum First aid camp was also organized at Khanpora Baramulla during Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi (SAW) on 25-01-2013.

    CD Srinagar: 05 days CD Basic Training camp was organized by Civil Defence Srinagar at HKMC Educational Institute Manigam Ganderbal w.e.f. 15-1-2013 to 19-1-2013. During the camp about 119 CD volunteers participated and were imparted training in various Civil Defence skills.
  • CD Budgam: On 17-01-2013, Civil Defence Budgam organsied one day Civil Defence workshop on disaster preparedness at Hr.Sec. School Khandah Chadoora Budgam. During the camp, about 500 students/staff members participated and were briefed about the role of Civil Defence during disaster. On the occasion, Sh.M.A.Ganai, IPS DIG HG/CD & SDRF Kashmir was the Chief Guest, besides Sh.Mushtaq Ahmed, Dy.Controller, Sarpanch and Panchs of the area were also present.
  • CD Kathua : On 21/1/2013, One day Civil Defence awareness camp was organized at ETT Rainbow College Kathua in which about 170 students participated and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster. Sh.Santokh Raj, Dy.SP Dy.Controller CD Kathua also highlighted the role and importance of Civil Defence. Moreover on the occasion of Republic Day 2013, Civil Defence awareness camp was also organized at Sports Stadium Kathua.
  • CD Nowshera : On 22-1-2013, Civil Defence Nowshera organized one day awareness camp at Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School Nowshera in which about 300 students participated and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster. Moreover, 21 CD wardens/volunteers were also deployed on Republic Day duty in the said school by CD Nowshera.

    Civil Defence wardens/volunteers assisted the devotees during awareness camp at Hazratbal Srinagar
    CD Srinagar : On the occasion of Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi (SAW), a social service camp was organized by Civil Defence Srinagar in collaboration with J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides, at Hazratbal Srinagar w.e.f. 24-01-2013. The volunteers assisted the people visiting the Shrine, provide them refreshment and also helped the traffic Police in regulating the traffic at the venue. Moreover, 36 CD staff/volunteers were also deployed for assistance to Local police during Republic Day at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar.
  • CD Anantnag : On 25-01-2013, Civil Defence Anantnag organized one day awareness cum First aid camp at Ziyarat Shareef Hazrat Reshi Sahib. Moreover, CD awareness camp was also organized on 01-02-2013 at Kabamarg shrine during Friday following of Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi (SAW).
  • CD Jammu: Civil Defence Jammu organsied five days Basic training camp at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Kandoli Nagrota w.e.f. 29-1-2013 to 02-02-2013. During the camp, 115 students participated and were imparted Civil Defence training in various CD skills i.e. First Aid, Fire-fighting and rescue operation.

    CD Udhampur: Civil Defence Udhampur organsied five day CD Basic Training camp at Govt. High School Thalora Manwal Udhampur in two shifts w.e.f. 30-01-2013 to 5-02-2013 and w.e.f. 06-2-2013 to 11-2-2013 in which about 114 students were imparted training in various Civil Defence skills under the supervision of Sh.Bodh Raj, Dy.SP Dy.Controller CD Udhampur. Moreover, one day Civil Deence awareness camp was organized at Anand Bhartiya Academy Rathain (Bun) Udhampur on 02-02-2013 in which about 200 students including staff members participated and were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disasters.

    CD Pulwama: On 02-02-2013, Civil Defence Pulwama organized one day awareness camp at Haj Ahad Public School Awantipora in which about 500 students participated and were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disasters.
    • CD Samba: On 02-2-2013, one day awareness camp on First aid and earthquake was organized by Civil Defence Samba at Hundustan Publishing Mills Factory Samba. About 120 people participated in the awareness camp and were also briefed by Sh.Sudershan Mehta, Dy.SP I/C Dy.Controller CD Samba. Moreover, another awareness camp was also conducted at United Phosphorus Ltd. Factory Samba on 04-2-2013 in which about 110 people participated. Civil Defence certificates alongwith Cheques were also distributed among the CD volunteers.
  • CD Kathua : Five day’s Civil Defence basic training camp was organized at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Boys Kathua w.e.f. 02-02-2013 to 07-2-2013 in which 43 students were trained by Civil Defence instructors under the supervision of Sh.Santokh Raj,Dy.SP Dy.Controller CD Kathua.
  • CD Samba : 05 day’s CD training camp was organized by Civil Defence Samba at Channi Manshan Swankha More Vijaypur w.e.f. 04-2-2013 to 09-2-2013 in which about 141 students participated. During the camp, the participants were imparted CD Basic training in fire-fighting, first aid and Rescue operation. Moreove, five day’s CD training camp was also organized at Little Angels Middle School Vijaypur Samba w.e.f. 12-2-2013 to 16-2-2013 in which 68 CD volunteers participated and were imparted CD basic training under the supervision of Sh.Sudershan Mehta, Dy.SP I/C Dy.Controller CD Samba. A live demonstration on rescue operation was also conducted by SDRF and Civil Defence instructors during the camp.

School Samba in which about 240 students and staff members participated. Moreover, another awareness camp was organized at Govt.   • CD Rajouri: On 06-02-2013, one day Civil Defence awareness camp was organsied at Nawaz Public Hr. Sec. School Palam Rajouri on the topic of First aid, Fire-fighting, rescue and Disaster Management. During the camp about 180 students and staff members participated. On 31-02-2013, one day CD awareness camp was also organized at Govt. Hish School Shahdara Sahrief Thanamandi in which about 80 students participated.
  • CD Akhnoor : Civil Defence Akhnoor organized one day awareness camp at New Light Public School Akhnoor on 07/2/2013 in which about 250 students participated and were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster.

  • CD Samba: On 09-2-2013, one day awareness camp on First aid and earthquake was organized by Civil Defence Samba at Shishu Niketan Hr.Sec.School Samba in which about 120 students and staff members participated. Moreover, another awareness camp was organized at Govt. Degree College Samba on 13-2-2013 in which about 85 students participated and were also briefed by Sh.Sudershan Mehta, Dy.SP I/C Dy.Controller CD Samba. CD certificates alongwith cheques were also distributed among the CD volunteers.
  • CD Sunderbani: Civil Defence Town Sunderbani organized five day’s CD Basic Training camp at Govt. Boys Hr.Sec. School Sunderbani w.e.f. 12-2-2013 to 16-2-2013. During the camp, 150 students were imparted CD training in fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operations.
  • CD Poonch : One day awareness camp was organized by CD Poonch at Govt. High School Bandi Cahthian Poonch on 16/2/2013 in which about 50 students participated and were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence. Moreover, another awareness camp was also organized at DPL Poonch on 28/2/2013 in which about 100 Police personnel were briefed about the Civil Defence activities and skills.
  • CD Udhampur: Civil Defence Udhampur organsied five day’s CD Basic Training camp at Common Public Hr. Sec. School Sangoor Udhampur in two shifts w.e.f. 14-02-2013 to 19-02-2013 and w.e.f. 20-02-2013 to 26-02-2013 in which about 91 students were imparted training in various Civil Defence skills under the supervision of Sh.Bodh Raj, Dy.SP Dy.Controller CD Udhampur.
  • CD Samba: 05 days, CD training camp was organized by Civil Defence Samba at R.K.Degree College Vijaypur w.e.f. 18-2-2013 to 22-2-2013. During the camp, 138 students participated and were imparted CD training in various CD skills i.e. fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation. A live demonstration on rescue operations was also conducted by SDRF and Civil Defence instructors during the camp.
  • CD Nowshera: Civil Defence Nowshera organized five day’s Civil Defence Basic Training camp at Govt High School Chakjaralan (Bagnoti) w.e.f. 20-2-2013 to 26-2-2013. During the camp, 45 students were trained and imparted Civil Defence Training in first-aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation. Moreover, Civil Defence wardens meeting was also conducted on 28-2-2013 to discuss the activities of the town.

    CD Poonch: Civil Defence Poonch organized five days CD training camp at Govt.High School Jharawali Gali w.e.f. 20/2/2013 to 26/2/2013 in which about 77 students were imparted training in Civil Defence skills. Moreover, another five days CD training camp was organized at Gali Kalapani Mendhar w.e.f. 07/2/2013 to 13/2/2013. During the camp, 144 CD volunteers were imparted training in first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation by Civil Defence/ SDRF instructors.

Moreover, Civil Defence wardens/ volunteers were also deployed during Rafting championship at Doda w.e.f. 22-2-2013 to 27-2-2013.
  • CD Rajouri : On 28-2-2013, one day CD awareness camp was organized at Govt. Hr.Sec.School Dhangri Rajouri on the topic ‘Man-made and Natural Disaster, first aid, rescue and fire fighting’. During the camp about 60 students and staff members participated.

    CD Budgam: Civil Defence Budgam organized five day’s Basic CD training camp at Labertal and Kaknmarn w.e.f. 01-03-2013 to 06-03-2013. During the camp 107 CD volunteers participated and were imparted Civil Defence training in first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operations.
  • CD Udhampur: On 04-3-2013, Civil Defence Udhampur organized one day awareness camp at Tata Project Ltd. Air Force Station Udhampur in which about 40 employees participated and were briefed about the Civil Defence activities. Moreover, one day Civil Defence awareness camp was also organized at Smart Hotel Udhampur in which about 80 staff members of Tata Project Ltd participated.
  • CD Jammu : On 04-03-2013, Civil Defence Jammu organized one day awareness camp at Village Khari in which about 50 civilians participated and were briefed about the importance of Civil Defence during disaster. An awareness camp was also organized at Coco Cola factory Gangyal on 12-3-2013 by CD Jammu in which about 120 employee of the factory participated and were made aware about the role of Civil Defence during disasters.
  • CD Udhampur: Civil Defence Udhampur organised One day Civil Defence awareness camp at JK Public Hr. Sec.School Omara Udhampur and ITI Udhampur on 08-3-2013 and 23-3-2013 respectively. During the camps, a large number of students participated and were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster. Moreover, 04 day’s Civil Defence/Disaster Management Training cum demonstration camp was also organsied by Civil Defence Udhampur at SKPA Udhampur in which about 83 recruits participated and were imparted Basic Civil Defence training cum demonstration in fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation.
  • CD Kupwara : On 11-03-2013, Civil Defence Kupwara organized one day workshop at Magam Kupwara in which about 200 civilians participated and were briefed about Civil Defence activities. Another CD awareness camp was also organized at Pohroopoth Kupwara on 23-03-2013 in which about 250 civilian participated.
  • CD Doda: On 11-03-2013, SDRF/Civil Defence team Doda conducted a search and rescue operation at Pul Doda and fished out a dead body from Chinab River.
  • CD Poonch : Five day’s CD training camp was organized at Govt. High School Fazalabad Surankote w.e.f. 15-3-2013 to 20-3-2013 in which 72 students were imparted Civil Defence Basic Training in fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation. Moreover, CD Poonch also organized two Civil Defence awareness camps at Govt. Middle School Chandak and Govt. Middle School Noona Bandi on 02-03-2013 and 26-3-2013 in which about 30 and 50 students participated respectively. During the camps, students were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster by the CD/SDRF instructors.

    CD Rajouri: Civil Defence Rajouri organized five days Basic Training camp at District Police Line Rajouri w.e.f. 15-3-2013 to 19-3-2013 in two shifts. During the training camp, 76 Civil Defence volunteers were imparted CD training in first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operations. Moreover, CD Rajouri also deputed SDRF/CD personnel for search and rescue operation to search a person drowned in the River between Badhoon and Muradpur on 01-3-2013.
  • CD Nowshera : On 15-3-2013, one day CD awareness camp was organized by Civil Defence Town Nowshera at Govt. High School Darbar Potha in which Sh.Sham Lal Mehta, Headmaster was the Chief Guest. During the camp, about 120 students participated and were briefed by Sh.R.P.Damral, Dy.Divisional Warden and CD/SDRF instructors on Civil Defence. Another awareness camp was also organsied at Govt. High School Gagrote Nowshera in which about 92 students were briefed in first aid, fire-fighting and rescue by the CD/SDRF instructors.
  • CD Akhnoor: Civil Defence Akhnoor organized one day awareness camp at CD Town Akhnoor on 16-3-2013 in which Sh.Sham Lal Sharma, IPS DIG HG/CD & SDRF Jammu was the Chief Guest. During the awareness camp about 150 CD wardens/volunteers participated and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster. Sh.Dushyant Sharma, Dy.SP I/C Dy.Controller CD Akhnoor and Smt.Kuldeep Kour, Dy.Divisional Warden CD Akhnoor also highlighted the activities of Civil Defence in the Town.

    CD Kathua : On 18-3-2013, Civil Defence Kathua organsied one day awareness camp at Govt. High School Kharote in which about 120 students alongwith teaching staff participated and were briefed on fire and safety measures to be taken during disasters. Civil Defence training certificates were also distributed among the trained CD volunteers on the occasion. Besides, CD awareness camp was also organized on 22-3-2013 at Vivekanand College of Education Lakhanpur by Civil Defence Kathua in which about 300 students participated. Civil Defence training certificates were also distributed to trained CD volunteers through Controller of CD cum Dy.Commissioner Kathua.
  • CD Doda: Five day’s CD training camp was organized at Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School Doda w.e.f.18-3-2013 to 23-3-2013 by Civil Defence Doda. During the camp, 23 Civil Defence volunteers were imparted CD training in various CD skill i.e. first aid, fire-fighting, rescue operation and also conducted live demonstration on rescue operation.

Sh.Sudershan Mehta, Dy.SP I/C Dy.Controller CD Samba delivered lecture on first aid among the participants and also distributed CD training certificates among the trained CD volunteers on the occasion.
  • CD Srinagar: On 19-03-2013, one day CD awareness cum demonstration camp was organized at Toto Ground Srinagar in which about 400 NCC cadets participated and were made aware about the role of Civil Defence during disasters. During this occasion, live demonstration on rescue operation was also conducted.
  • CD Doda: On 20-3-2013, Civil Defence Doda organized one day awareness camp at Thathri, Doda in which a large number of civilians participated and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster. Moreover, another awareness camp was also conducted at village Hanga Bhaderwah on 24-03-2013 by Civil Defence Doda.
  • CD Nowshera: Five day’s Civil Defence training camp was organized by CD Town Nowshera at Govt. High School Chakjaralan, Bagnoti w.e.f. 20-3-2013 to 26-3-2013. During the camp, 40 CD volunteers were imparted Basic CD training in fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operations by the CD/SDRF instructors. Sh.Shamsher Chand, Headmaster was the Chief Guest on the concluded
    day of the training camp. Moreover, Civil Defence Town Nowshera also conducted CD wardens meeting on 27-3-2013 regarding CD Conference at Jammu.
  • CD Samba: Civil Defence Samba organized one day awareness camp at R.K.Degree College Vijaypur Samba on 20-3-2013. During the camp, about 350 CD volunteers/ staff members participated and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disasters. Besides an awareness camp was also organized at Channi Manshan Swankha More Vijaypur on 19-3-2013 by CD Samba in which about 140 CD volunteers participated. Moreover, Civil Defence Training certificates were also distributed among the trained CD volunteers by Sh.Sudershan Mehta, Dy.SP, I/C Dy.Controller CD Samba.
  • CD Srinagar : During the period 22-03-2013 to 27-03-2013, Civil Defence Srinagar organized five day’s CD training camps in Rehmania Eucation Institute Noor Bagh, Iqra Public School Bemina Srinagar, Shaheen Public School Manigam, Govt.Hr. Sec. School Manigam and Hanifa Public School Nunar Ganderbal in which 172, 151, 148, 99 and 86 CD volunteers were trained respectively in various Civil Defence skills i.e. Fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operations by CD/SDRF instructors.

Smt.Bimla Pathania, Dy.Divisional Warden Sunderbani also delivered the lecture on fire-fighting and first aid to the participants.

    CD Baramulla : On 23-3-2013, Civil Defence Baramulla organized one day workshop cum awareness camp at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Delina Baramulla. During the camp, about 200 students participated and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence. Another awareness camp was also organized at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Boniyar Baramulla on 26-03-2013 in which about 250 students participated.
  • CD Kupwara : On 25-03-2013, Civil Defence Kupwara organized one day awareness camp at Nelipora Kupwara in which about 200 civilian participated and were briefed about role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster. An awareness camp, was also organsied at Zangli Kupwara on 26-03-2013 in which about 250 civilians participated who were made aware about the aims and objectives of Civil Defence.
  • SDRF Jammu : During 22nd Police Public Mela held on 31-03-2013 at Gulshan Ground Jammu, a stall of various items was installed by SDRF 2nd Bn. Jammu.
