J&K STATE DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE PERSONNEL PROVIDED FIRST AID/ ASSISTANCE TO THE DEVOTEES DURING SHRI AMARNTH JI YATRA-2014

During, Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2014, SDRF established various camps en-routes at various places i.e. Chandandwari, Pissu Top, Zojibal-Nagakoti, Sheshnag, Maha Ganesh Top, Panjterni, Baltal base camp, Brarimarg,Sangam and Holy Cave. SDRF personnel from Jammu and Kashmir battalions were deployed in these camps alongwith modern equipments in order to meet any disaster during Sh.Amarnath Ji yatra. Moreover, two SDRF rescue vehicles and two ambulances were also deployed, one each at base camp Chandanbari and Baltal respectively during the yatra for responding any disaster.

During the yatra, SDRF personnel worked round the clock for facilitation of yatries and provided them first aid, oxygen and medicines as per need and also assisted old aged and sick yatries to negotiate with difficult tracks of the route especially at terrain tracks and glaciers in view of heavy snow fall. During the yatra, on 3rd July-2014 one devotee namely Smt. Anita, aged 47 years wife of Sh.Ajay R/O Mumbai registered under No. 046442 was declared dead at Sheshnag and shifted to base camp Chandanwari. The Rescue / Medical Patrol Team of SDRF deployed from Chandanwari to Pissu Top examined the body and discovered feeble pulse. They immediately untied the body and applied (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) technique in order to revive her. Simultaneously, they administered oxygen which caused the devotee to regain her breathing. Thus her life was saved and she was subsequently shifted to hospital.

During the camp, about 1500 yatries were provided first aid in which about 850 yatries were provided oxygen and about 600 yatries with medicines.

Moreover, Homeguards/Civil Defence wardens/volunteers were also deployed for yatra duties at various places alongwith SDRF personnel and District Police at Jammu Province i.e. Lakhanpur, Chann Arorian Kathua, Chichi Mata Temple Samba, base camp Bhagwati Nagar Jammu, Udhampur, Ramban etc. SDRF/Civil Defence camps were also established alongwith ambulances & rescue equipments for providing first aid, awareness cum guidance to the yatries which help them to be ready for facing any eventuality during their Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.


 

TWO DAYS CIVIL DEFENCE, DISASTER MANAGEMENT AWARENESS CUM TRAINING PROGRAMME ORGANISED BY DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION IN COLLABORATION WITH CIVIL DEFENCE & SDRF JAMMU FOR HOMEGUARDS/ NYK/ NCC/ NSS/RED CROSS/CD WARDENS/VOLUNTEERS & STUDENTS AT JAMMU

Shri Shantmanu, IAS Divisional Commissioner, Jammu inaugurated two days Civil Defence Disaster management/ awareness cum training programme at Police Auditorium Gulshan Ground Gandhi Nagar Jammu on 20-05-2014. The awareness camp was organized by the District administration in collaboration with Directorate of HG/CD & SDRF J&K. Speaking on the occasion, Divisional Commissioner Sh.Shantmanu, IAS stressed upon the need to train maximum number of youth in Civil Defence and Disaster Management keeping in view of the challenges posed by natural and manmade disasters in present era. Youth should get themselves trained and inspire others to be ready to save the life and property of the people in the event of disasters. He also stressed that in the present scenario there is dire need to make Civil Defence training as a part of daily life.

He asked the volunteers and all other participants to ensure maximum involvement in Civil Defence activities and said that trained people could prove instrumental in managing the situation effectively besides building self confidence and concern for humanity among the masses. The Divisional Commissioner assured that a proposal for funds under Civil Defence would be forwarded to the Finance Commission so that the Civil Defence and Disaster Management activities are strengthened. He advised the youth to keep themselves physical fit, mentally alert and remain fully equipped to meet any eventuality. He asked them to constitute groups of concerned people who could be contacted immediately at a call to minimize the loss during disasters.

Sh.A.K.Sahu,IAS Dy. Commissioner Jammu highlighted the activities of Civil Defence and Disaster management. He stressed upon ground level preparedness and asked for imparting life saving, skills and basic knowledge to the participants besides training on relief operations during disaster and use of latest methods and techniques. He asked them to constitute Disaster Management Committees at their level so as to impart training and awareness to the public. He stressed for close coordination among the concerned organizations for effective management of the situations.

The function was co-ordinated by Smt.Tajinder Kour, Dy.SP Dy.Controller CD Jammu under the guidance of Sh.Ajeet Kumar Sahu, IAS Dy. Commissioner Jammu. During the two days programme, the participants were briefed about various disaster management/ life saving techniques and basic knowledge on relief operation by the experts. Mock drill exercises and demonstrations on different rescue/relief operations were also conducted to train the participants so that they could effectively deal with disasters and reach out to the affected population during any eventuality.

On the occasion, Sh.Ajeet Kumar Sahu, IAS Dy.Commissioner Jammu, Sh.Atul Goyal, SSP, Col. J. R.Koshik, Sr.Specialist from NDMA, New Delhi, Sh.Kalyan Singh, ADC Jammu, Sh.Stanzin Norboo, SP Comdt. SDRF 2nd Bn Jammu, Sh.Sunil Kesar,Dy.SP SDRF 2nd Bn, CD wardens/ volunteers, Sh.Jugal Mahajan, Chief Warden, Sh.Vinod Malhotra, Sh.Parmjeet, Dy.Chief Wardens, senior officers of civil administration as well as Police officers/officials, Panchs, Sarpanchs, NYK/NCC/NSS/Red Cross/CD wardens/ volunteers were also present.


 

 

GOVERNOR APPRECIATED FOR INITIATIVES IN ENLARGING AWARENESS ABOUT THE SERIOUS ADVERSE AFFECTS OF SMOKING AND TOBACCO CONSUMPTION

Shri N.N. Vohra, Hon’ble Governor J&K appreciated the role played by the Voluntary Health Association in sensitizing the general public about the harmful effects of smoking and consumption of tobacco products. The Hon’ble Governor was speaking at the inaugural function of the “State Level Orientation Workshop for Stakeholders on the implementation of ‘National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) in the State of Jammu and Kashmir”, organized by J&K Voluntary Health Association in collaboration with “International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases” and Civil Defence at Nigeen Club, Srinagar on 23-05-2014,.
The Hon’ble Governor stressed the need for raising awareness about the adverse consequences of smoking and consumption of tobacco and its related products in the State. He stressed the need for collaborative efforts being made by all stakeholders particularly the Health, Education and Police Departments in the State to deal with smoking and other harmful habits. The Governor urged Sh. A.G. Mir, IPS Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, and Sh. Farooq Ahmad Shah, IAS Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, to launch a well planned campaign for removal of all hoardings and advertisements which promote the sale of tobacco products, from identified public places in the city.

For enlarging the awareness campaign, the Hon’ble Governor suggested involvement of volunteers from the State Red Cross Society, Boys Scouts, Girl Guides and Civil Defence organizations. Combined teams of such volunteers can spread awareness among the general public about the devastating health consequences of use of tobacco and other related products. He said that time-bound steps are jointly needed by all concerned agencies for effective implementation of the Government of India’s “National Tobacco Control Programme”. The Hon’ble Governor released the translated version of “Health Workers Guide for Tobacco Control” in Urdu language, on the occasion.

Also present on the occasion, among others, were Sh. N. A. Khan, Chief Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides, J&K; Mrs. Roma Wani, Honorary General Secretary, State Red Cross Society, J&K, Sh. G. N. Mir Lasjan, Social Activist, Deputy Controller Civil Defence and Civil Defence wardens/volunteers Srinagar.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE ORGANISED BLOOD DONATION CAMP AT JAMMU

Civil Defence Jammu with the collaboration of Chenab College of Education and Blood Transfusion Department of Government Medical College Jammu organised a blood donation camp at Chenab College of Education Jammu on 09-04-2014. During the camp, Smt.Tajinder Kour, Dy.SP Dy.Controller CD Jammu was the chief guest and Dr.Naveen Akhter, Smt.Kamal Deep Kour, Principal, Divisional Warden Santosh Magotra, Dy.Divisional Warden R.Vijay Magotra were the guest of honour. The function started after lightening traditional lamp by the esteem guests. Chief Guest shared her views on importance of blood donation. Moreover, Civil Defence with the support of MIER College of Education and Blood Transfusion Department also organised another blood donation camp at SMGS Hospital Jammu on 30-04-2014. The NSS/Civil Defence volunteers, students and teachers took part in these blood donation camps with high zeal and donated blood.


 

 

SOCIAL WORKER/STAFF MEMBERS OF ICDS PROJECTS WERE MADE AWARE ABOUT CIVIL DEFENCE AT ANANTNAG

Civil Defence Anantnag conducted CD awareness camps in various ICDS Project at Bijbihara, Sarnal Bala, Achabal and HS Bug Quimoh Anantnag on 10-04-2014, 15-04-2014, 21-04-2014 and 22-04-2014 respectively. During these camps, a large number of workers/staff members participated and were acquainted with Civil Defence trainings like fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation and its importance during disaster by Civil Defence/SDRF experts.

On 19-04-2014, one day Civil Defence awareness cum demonstration programme organised at Railway Station Reception centre Katra. Smt. D.R Doley Barman IPS, the then ADGP HG/CD & SDRF J&K was the chief guest on the occasion. Sh. Rakesh Wazir, Chief Warden Civil Defence Reasi welcomed the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, Chief guest stressed upon to gear up the Civil Defence activities in hill areas like Mahore, Gool, Arnas etc. so that more and more people could be trained in Civil Defence basic training like first-aid, fire-fighting and rescue operations to tackle any situation raised at the time of disaster. During the camp more than 500 students /staff members from various educational institutes participated and were also briefed about role and importance of Civil Defence. A live demonstration on rescue operation from higher buildings was also conducted by the Civil Defence /SDRF personnel. On the occasion Sh.Sanjay Sehgal, Dy.Director Civil Defence MHA GOI New Delhi also spoke on the occasion and briefed about the Civil Defence schemes. Sh. Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary IAS Dy. Commissioner Reasi, Sh. M.K Bhandari IAS CEO, SMVD Katra, Sh. Sunil Sharma Comdt. CRPF 06 Bn., Sh. Bodh Raj Dy. Controller Civil Defence Udhampur, Sh. INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE HG/CD & SDRF J&K STRESSED UPON CD WARDENS TO GEAR UP CIVIL DEFENCE ACTIVITIES DURING HIS VISITED AT CIVIL DEFENCE SAMBA

On 23-04-2014, Sh. T.Punchok, IPS IGP HG/CD & SDRF J&K inspected Land Site Arazi Samba acquired for Civil Defence. He also visited one day CD awareness programme organised at Indo-Swift Laboratories Limited Phase-1 Samba in which CD/SDRF experts delivered lecture on the topics Disaster Management, Rescue operation, Fire emergency and Medical First Responder. During the camp, live demonstration on rescue operations was also conducted by SDRF/CD team. About 150 employee/staff members of the Laboratories participated in the awareness camp and were acquainted with Civil Defence and its activities.

Under the chairmanship of T.Punchok, IPS IGP HG/CD & SDRF J&K, a Civil Defence wardens meeting was also held at Dak Bungalow Samba. In the meeting IGP briefed the Civil Defence wardens about Disaster Preparedness and stressed upon the Wardens to gear up the CD activities and work with dedications. On the occasion, Sh. T.D Saini SSP, SO to ADGP HG/CD & SDRF J&K, Sh.Suram Singh Addl. SP Samba, Sh.Suresh Kumar Dy. SP DAR Samba, Sh. Jai Kumar, CEO Samba, Sh. S.C Verma, Divisional Fire officer, Sh.Dharamvir Singh, Chief Warden and other Civil Defence Wardens/volunteers also participated.


 

 

BANGLADESH FLUTISTS ENTHRALL AUDIENCE DURING “AWAZ-E-DOST” PROGRAMME ORGANISED BY CIVIL DEFENCE AT UNIVERSITY OF KASHMIR ON 25-08-2014

A Bangla-Kashur musical flute concert “Awaz-e-Dost” was organized by J&K Civil Defence at University of Kashmir on Flutist from Bangladesh along with local artists performed to propagate cultural relations, brotherhood and communal harmony.

On this occasion, Sh.K.Rajindra,IPS Director General of Police J&K, Prof. A.M. Shah, Vice Chancellor Kashmir University, Sh.S.M.Sahai,IPS Additional Director General of Police Armed J&K, Sh.Ayaz Rasool Nazki, Regional Director ICCR, Dr. G A Bhat, DG Fire and Emergency J&K, Sh.Shafkat Iqbal, Joint Director, Information Kashmir, Senior Police and Civil Officers, Professors of University, NGOs and a large number of Civil Defence Wardens/Volunteers and students participated.

Earlier J&K Police band also presented a welcome tune which mesmerized the audience. The Programme was coordinated by Sh.R.K.Bhat,SP, Divisional Commandant Homeguards Srinagar and Shireen Trambu facilitated the programme. The flutist who participated from Bangladesh were Sh.Moniruz Zaman, Sh.Mritunjay Kumar, Sh.Pass Nasihir, Sh. Shorab-ud-din Ifteharul and local artists were Sh.Mayank Raina, Sh.Syed Muzamil Shah, Sh.Mohammed Shafi Shah,Sh. Bashir Ahmed Shah, Sh.Nadim. The groups together performed a juggal bandi, which was appreciated by the audience.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE BRIEFED THE STUDENTS DURING AWARENESS CAMPS HELD AT LEH

On 13-05-2014, Civil Defence Leh conducted one day Civil Defence awareness camp at JNV School Leh in which about 200 students participated and were briefed about drug de-addiction and Civil Defence skills by the CD/SDRF experts. Moreover, Civil Defence Leh organised one day Civil Defence awareness camp at Lamdon Higher secondary School Leh on 15-05-2014 in which about 450 students participated and were made aware about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster.


 

 

STUDENTS OF GALAXY PUBLIC SCHOOL AHMED NAGAR SRINAGAR ACQUAINTED WITH CIVIL DEFENCE SKILLS

On 17-05-2014, Civil Defence Srinagar conducted one day CD awareness camp at Galaxy Public School, Ahmad Nagar Srinagar. During the camp, about 300 students participated and were made aware about Civil Defence skills i.e. fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation and its importance during disaster by the CD/SDRF instructors. CD demonstration was also conducted on the occasion.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE ORGANISED AWARENESS CAMPS AT KULGAM

Civil Defence Kulgam conducted three awareness programmes one at Rural Development Block Kulgam w.e.f 19-05-2014 to 21-05-2014, second at Govt. High School Sopat on 21-06-2014 and third at Govt. Higher Secondary School Chowalgam on 23-06-2014. During these camps, a large number of students/civilians participated and were briefed about Civil Defence skills like first aid, fire fighting and rescue operation by the Civil Defence/SDRF instructors. Demonstrations on rescue operation were also conducted on the occasions by the CD/SDRF experts.

Civil Defence Kargil organised one day CD awareness camp at auditorium hall Kargil on 02-06-2014. During the camp, a large number students/civilians participated and were briefed about the role and importance of Civil Defence during disaster. Moreover, Civil Defence Kargil organised one day CD awareness camp at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Kargil on 07-04-2014 in which about 150 students participated and were made aware about Civil Defence and its importance during disaster. Civil Defence demonstrations on rescue operations were also conducted by the CD/SDRF experts on the occasion.


 

 

ON THE EVE OF KHEER BHAWANI MELA, CIVIL DEFENCE SRINAGAR ORGANISED FIRST AID CUM AWARENESS CAMP AT TULMULLA

On the eve of mela Kheer Bhawani, Civil Defence Srinagar organised CD awareness cum first aid camp at Tulmulla Ganderbal w.e.f. 05-06-2014 to 07-06-2014. On the occasion devotees were assisted /served with juice and drinking water. Moreover, on 14-6-2014 Civil Defence awareness camp on drug de-addiction was also organised at Govt. Higher Secondary School Nawakadal by the Civil Defence Srinagar in which a large number of students/staff members participated and were briefed by the CD/SDRF instructors about the Civil Defence and its importance during disaster.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE IMPARTED CD BASIC TRAINING AMONG THE STUDENTS/STAFF MEMBERS AT SRINAGAR

Civil Defence Srinagar organised five days Civil Defence basic training camp at ITI Bemina w.e.f 05-06-2014 to 11-06-2014. During the camp, about 200 students/staff members participated and were imparted Civil Defence training in fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation by the CD/SDRF experts. Moreover, students of Govt. Higher Secondary School Nawakadal were also imparted CD training in first aid, fire fighting and rescue operation by the Civil Defence /SDRF instructors w.e.f 09-06-2014 to 14-06-2014. During the camps, Civil Defence demonstrations on rescue operations were also conducted among the participants by the experts.


 

 

CIVIL DEFENCE AWARENESS AND WORKSHOP ON DRUG DE-ADDICTION HELD AT BARAMULLA

One day workshop cum awareness camp on ‘drug de-addiction’ organised at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Sopore, Baramulla

On 12-06-2014, Civil Defence Baramulla organised one day CD awareness camp at Guru Nanak Dev Ji Model High School Baramulla in which about 250 students participated and were briefed about Civil Defence and its importance during disaster.

Moreover, on 14-06-2014, Civil Defence Baramulla also organised one day CD awareness camp at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Sopore in which about 450 students participated and were briefed on drug de-addiction by the experts.


 

 

STUDENTS WERE IMPARTED TRAINING IN CIVIL DEFENCE SKILLS AT BUDGAM

Students were acquainted with drug de-addictions during one day Civil Defence workshop held at SAM Degree College Budgam

In Tawheedia Educational Institute Budgam, Civil Defence organised two CD basic training camps w.e.f 19-06-2014 to 25-06-2014 and w.e.f. 07-07-2014 to 12-07-2014. During the camps, about 100 students participated and were imparted Civil Defence training in fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation by the CD/SDRF experts. Civil Defence demonstrations on rescue operation were also conducted on the occasion. Moreover, Civil Defence Budgam also organised drug de-addiction workshop at SAM College Budgam on 17-06-2014 in which large number of students participated and were briefed on drug de-addiction by experts.


 

 

SDRF PERSONEL CONDUCTED RESCUE OPERATION DURING ROAD ACCIDETN AT SARMOLI, UDHAMPUR

Civil Defence/SDRF team Udhampur conducted rescue operation on 18-07-2014 at Sarmoli where a Maruti Van skidded off road in which three persons were injured. SDRF rescue team reached on spot and injured were rescued and shifted to District Hospital Udhampur. Moreover, CD/SDRF team Udhampur also fished out the dead body of one person namely Sohan Lal S/O Sh.Kunj Lal R/O Village Tundhar Chenani who was drowned in River Tawi at Chenani on 23-07-2014.


 

 

HOMEGUARDS VOLUNTEERS WERE IMPARTED TRAINING AT CENTRAL TRAINING INSTITUTE OF HG/CD JAMMU

10 days capsule/refresher training courses, 15 days Disaster Management training course and 45 days Basic training course were conducted in the Central Training Institute of Homeguards/Civil Defence Jammu w.e.f. 14-04-2014 to 16-07-2014. During these courses, a large number of CD/Homeguard volunteers participated and were imparted basic training in disaster management and drill/discipline by the Civil Defence / SDRF instructors.


 

 

ACTIVITIES IN BRIEF :

  • CIVIL DEFENCE SHOPIAN: Civil Defence Shopian organised awareness camps at Shahi Hamdan Memorial Institute Shopian and at Keller Shopian on 02-04-2014 and on 17-06-2014 respectively. During the camps about 300 students/civilians participated and were acquainted with Civil Defence and its importance during disaster by the CD/SDRF instructors. Moreover, on 22-07-2014, Civil Defence Shopian also organised one day awareness camp at District Police Lines Shopian. During the camp, a large number of Police personnel participated and were acquainted with Civil Defence/SDRF skills i.e. first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation by the CD/SDRF instructors.
  • CIVIL DEFENCE GANDERBAL: On 02-04-2014, Civil Defence Ganderbal conducted one day CD awareness camp at Govt. Boys Middle School Pahlipora Safapora. During the camp about 200 students participated and briefed about Civil Defence and its role in Disaster Management.
  • CIVIL DEFENCE BUDGAM: On 03-04-2014, Civil Defence Budgam organised one day awareness camp at Wagoor Khansahib in which about 150 students participated and were made aware about Civil Defence activities and its importance during disaster.CD Budgam also conducted 05 days basic training camps at Govt. High School Chandapora and at Higher Secondary School Waterhal w.e.f 23-04-2014 to 28-04-2014 and w.e.f 22-05-2014 to 28-05-2014 respectively. During the camps, 150 students/staff members participated and were imparted Civil Defence training in fire fighting, first aid and rescue operation during disaster by the Civil Defence/SDRF instructors. On the occasion, live demonstrations on rescue operations were also conducted among the participants.

    CIVIL DEFENCE SAMBA: Civil Defence Samba organised fourteen awareness camps in Samba at Nagrota Utterbehni on 05-04-2014, at Panchyat Halqa Moutlian Village Vardan on 12-04-2014, at Sun Pharma Factory on 16-04-2014. at village Katli on 30-04-2014, at village Jarain (Rajpura) on 07-05-2014, at village Madoon on 13-05-2014, at SIDCO complex phase 1, on 24-05-2014, at Bari Brahamna on 30-05-2014, at village Jatwal on 11-06-201, at village Gouran on 18-06-2014, at village Nichla Sorara on 23-06-2014, at village Chack Sadda on 07-07-2014, at village Katli on 12-07-2014 and at village Malani Samba on 28-07-2014. During these camps, a large number of civilians participated and were briefed about Civil Defence and its importance during disaster. Sh. Ashutosh Sharma, Dy.SP Dy. Controller CD Samba delivered lecture on the occasions and acquainted the people with Civil Defence activities and its importance during disasters. Moreover, participants were also briefed about the civil Defence basic trainings like fire-fighting, first-aid and rescue operation by the CD/SDRF instructors. Civil Defence demonstrations on rescue operations were also conducted during the camps.
    Moreover, Civil Defence Samba organised four CD basic training camps in Samba at Guru Nanak Dev Ji Public Hr. Sec. School Ramgarh, at Arvind Ghosh, Higher Secondary School Vijaypur, at Village Nagrota, Utterbehani and at Chichi Mata Samba w.e.f 19-05-2014 to 23-05-2014, w.e.f 02-06-2014 to 06-06-2014, w.e.f 09-06-2014 to 13-06-2014 and w.e.f 28-06-2014 to 03-07-2014 respectively. During the camps about 500 students /civilians participated and were imparted Civil Defence training in first-aid, fire-fighting and rescue operations by the CD / SDRF instructors. Demonstrations on rescue operation were also conducted on the occasions by the experts.

    CIVIL DEFENCE KATHUA: Civil Defence organised five basic training camps in Kathua at K.V. School Hiranagar w.e.f 07-04-2014 to 15-04-2014, at Sai International School Jangi Chack w.e.f 16-04-2014 to 22-04-2014, at Brighting School Hiranagar w.e.f 23-04-2014 to 28-04-2014, at Kattal Brahmna, Hiranagar w.e.f 29-04-2014 to 05-05-2014 and at Rose Public Higher Secondary School Hiranagar w.e.f 06-05-2014 to 10-05-2014. During these camps, about 200 students/civilians participated and were imparted Civil Defence training in fire fighting, first aid and rescue operations by the CD/SDRF instructors.
    Moreover, Civil Defence Kathua also organised four awareness camps at Nav Adarsh Hr. Sec. School Kathua on 23-05-2014, at Sai International Higher Secondary School Hiranagar on 28-05-2014, at Govt. High School Kadyala Hiranagar on 28-05-2014 and at IRP 19th Bn Changran on 19-06-2014. During the camps, a large number of civilians,students,Police personnel participated and were briefed about Civil Defence and its importance during disaster. Sh.Kewal Krishan,Dy.SP Dy.Controller CD Kathua and Sh.Dhian Chand,Chief Warden highlighted the role and importance of Civil Defence. Demonstrations on rescue operation were also conducted on the occasions by the CD/SDRF personnel.
    Civil Defence/SDRF rescue team Kathua fished out the dead body of a truck driver namely Sh.Shashi Kumar S/O Sh.Jagdev Singh R/O Gursha Sain Faridkot who drowned during flood at Lakhanpur canal near Golden Gate on 12-07-2014. Moreover, on 22-07-2014, the dead body of an unknown person was also fished out by the CD/SDRF team from Lakhanpur canal.
  • CIVIL DEFENCE KUPWARA: Civil Defence Kupwara organised two basic training camps in Kupwara one at Chagul Handwara and second at Civil Defence control room Kupwara w.e.f. 07-04-2014 to 11-04-2014 and w.e.f 15-05-2014 to 20-05-2014 respectively. During the camp, about 250 civilians participated and were imparted Civil Defence training in first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation by the CD/ SDRF experts. Moreover, Civil Defence Kupwara also organised two awareness camps one at Magam Handwara and second at Higher Secondary School Highhama Kupwara on 24-04-2014 and 17-06-2014 respectively. During the camp, a large number of students participated and acquainted with Civil Defence skill and its importance during disaster by CD/SDRF experts.
  • CIVIL DEFENCE PULWAMA (Awantipora): Civil Defence organised four basic training camps in Pulwama at Govt. Higher Secondary School Pinglina w.e.f 10-04-2014 to 16-04-2014, at Govt. High School Tahab Pulwama w.e.f 19-05-2014 to 23-05-2014, at Momin Public School Chandgam w.e.f 20-05-2014 to 24-05-2014 and at Govt. Middle School Babgam w.e.f 22-05-2014 to 26-05-2014. During these camps, about 700 students/staff members participated and were imparted Civil Defence trainings in fire fighting, first aid and rescue operation by the CD/SDRF instructors.

    Demonstrations on rescue operations were also conducted by the CD/SDRF personnel on the occasions. Moreover, Civil Defence Pulwama also organised two awareness camps at Govt. During the camps, a large number of people participated and were acquainted with drug de-addiction and Civil Defence skills.

    CIVIL DEFENCE ANANTNAG: Civil Defence conducted eight awareness camps in Anantnag, at Girls Higher Secondary School Qazigund on 11-4-2014, at Govt. Degree College Bijbihara on 16-04-2014, at Govt. Higher Secondary School Brakpora on 17-04-2014, at Govt. Higher Secondary School Dooru on 28-04-2014, at Govt. Higher Secondary School Ashmuqam on 29-04-2014, Govt. Higher Secondary School Pahalgam w.e.f 30-05-2014 to 31-05-2014, at Govt. Higher Secondary School Pahalgam on 01-06-2014 and at Civil Defence Headquarters Anantnag on 20-06-2014. During these camps, a large number of students /civilians participated and were briefed about the activities of Civil Defence and Disaster Management by Civil Defence/SDRF instructors. Moreover, participants were also acquainted with drug de-addiction by the experts.
  • CIVIL DEFENCE JAMMU: Civil Defence conducted three basic training camps, one at Dati Todi Convent High School Bishnah w.e.f 26-05-2014 to 31-05-2014 and second at Govt. Higher Sec. School Channi Himmat w.e.f 26-05-2014 to 31-05-
    2014 and third at Bal Bharti High School Channi Himmat Jammu w.e.f 02-06-2014 to 06-06-2014. During these camps about 200 students/staff members participated and were imparted Civil Defence trainings in first aid, fire fighting and rescue operations by the Civil Defence/SDRF instructors. Demonstrations on rescue operations were also conducted by the CD/SDRF personnel.

    Moreover, Civil Defence organised five awareness camps in Jammu at Regional Research Laboratory Canal Road Jammu on 11-04-2014, at Chand Nagar on 16-04-2014, at DTM Convent High School Ratnal Bishnah on 03-05-2014 and at NCC camp Nagrota on 11-07-2014 and 22-07-2014 . During the camps, a large number of civilians, students/staff members and NCC cadets participated. The participants were acquainted with first aid, fire-fighting and rescue operation by the Civil Defence wardens and instructors. Moreover, on the occasion of Police Raising Day Civil Defence and SDRF Jammu organised a ‘shabel and langer’ at Railway Station Jammu which was inaugurated by Sh.Stanzin Norboo, SP Comdt. SDRF 2nd Bn. Jammu while Smt.Tajinder Kour, Dy.Controller and Sh.Jugal Mahajan, Chief warden CD Jammu supervised the entire programme.
  • CIVIL DEFENCE UDHAMPUR: Civil Defence organised nine awareness camps in district Udhampur at Devika Mandir Complex w.e.f. 14-04-2014 to 16-04-2014, at Vijay Higher Secondary School Udhampur on 13-05-2014, at National Academy Udhampur on 16-05-2014, at Moungry w.e.f 14-05-2014 to 16-05-2014, at Govt. Higher Secondary School Moungry on 22-05-2014, at Govt. Middle School Thatli Block Panchari on 22-05-2014, at Govt. High School Kaghot Ramnagar on 23-05-2014, at Govt. Middle School Kaghot, Ramnagar on 23-05-2014, and at Govt. Middle School Dhandal, Ramnagar on 28-05-2014. During these camps, a large number of students / civilians participated and were made aware about Civil Defence skill like first aid, fire fighting, rescue operations and Disaster Management techniques by the Civil Defence and SDRF instructors. Demonstrations on rescue operations were also conducted on the occasions.
  • CIVIL DEFENCE BARAMULLA: Civil Defence Baramulla conducted 05 days Civil Defence basic training camp at Army Goodwill School Ziran Tangmarg w.e.f 15-04-2014 to 19-04-2014 in which 132 students participated and were imparted Civil Defence activities like fire fighting, first aid and rescue operation during disaster by the Civil Defence/SDRF instructors.

    Moreover, Civil Defence also conducted nine awareness camps in District Baramulla at Govt. Higher Secondary School Mirgund Pattan on 17-4-2014, at Sabhai-ur-irshad Darul Uloom Sardari on 23-4-2014, at B.Ed College Kitchama Sheeri on 22-04-2014, at St. Joseph Higher Secondary School Baramulla on 26-04-2014, at Govt. High School Shumalarn Chandoosa on 15-05-2014, at Public School Baramulla on 28-05-2014, at Govt. Higher Secondary School Boniyar on 21-06-2014, at Govt. Higher Secondary School Khawaja Bagh on 08-07-2014 and at Govt. High School Deewan Bagh Baramulla on 14-07-2014. During the camps, a large number of students/staff members and civilians participated and were briefed about Civil Defence and Disaster Management by the CD/SDRF instructors. Demonstrations on the first aid/rescue operations were also conducted by the CD/SDRF instructors on the occasions.

    CIVIL DEFENCE SRINAGAR: On 16-04-2014, Civil Defence participated in high level advocacy on Tobacco Control organised by Voluntary Health Association of India at SP Higher Secondary School M.A Road Srinagar in which a large number of students/ civilians/ wardens/volunteers participated. Moreover, on 31-05-2014, CD Srinagar organised one day seminar on ‘World No Tobacco Day’ at College of Education Srinagar in which about 1000 people participated and briefed about drug de-addiction by the experts.
    Civil Defence Srinagar organised first aid cum awareness camp at Hazratbal Shrine Srinagar w.e.f. 26-05-2014 to 30-05-2014 in which local people participated and were provided first aid/ assistance to the participants. Moreover, Civil Defence volunteer were also deployed to perform Traffic Duty at various places of District Srinagar w.e.f 01-07-2014 to 31-07-2014 during Sh.Amarnath Ji Yatra. Civil Defence Srinagar organised two awareness camps one at Iqra Public School Bemina Srinagar and second at Galaxy Public School Ahmad Nagar on 30-04-2014 and 08-07-2014 respectively. During the camps, about 300 students/staff members participated and were briefed about the Civil Defence and Disaster Management skills by the CD/SDRF instructors.
  • CIVIL DEFENCE NOWSHERA: Civil Defence town Nowshera organised three awareness camps one at ITI College on 19-04-2014, second at Panchyat Halqa Rajpur Bhatta Nowshera on 26-04- 2014 and third at village Community Hall Deeng (Nowshera) on 30-07-2014. During these camps, a large number of students/civilians participated and were briefed about Civil Defence and its importance during disaster. Moreover, Civil Defence also conducted five days CD basic training camp at Govt. ITI College Nowshera w.e.f 16-06-2014 to 20-06-2014. During the camp about 36 students participated and were imparted training in first aid, fire fighting and rescue operation by the Civil Defence/SDRF instructors.
  • CIVIL DEFENCE DODA: During landslide at Pull Doda on 19-04-2014, Civil Defence/SDRF rescue team rushed on spot and launched search/rescue operation. During search/rescue operation two dead bodies were recovered and shifted to District Hospital Doda. On 30-05-2014, CD Doda conducted rescue operation during major fire broke out at Gattu Mohalla, Doda. Civil Defence/SDRF rescue team alongwith the local police / fire emergency services launched rescue operation on the spot and saved the life and property to damage. On 04-06-2014, Civil Defence/SDRF team Doda fished out the dead body of a boy who drowned in Neeru Nallah Pull Doda during bathing. Moreover, CD Doda also launched rescue operation at Bhagwah when a matador met with an accident on 16-6-2014. On 14-06-2014, Civil Defence Doda conducted a rescue operation when a house collapsed near Govt. Higher Secondary School Doda. During the rescue operation, CD/SDRF team alongwith local police rescued the 03 persons safely from the collapsed house.
    Civil Defence organised 04 days CD awareness camp at DIET Complex Doda w.e.f 06-05-2014 to 09-05-2014. During the camp about 595 teachers participated and were made aware about Civil Defence skills and Disaster Management techniques by the CD/SDRF experts. Moreover, Civil Defence also organised 05 days CD basic training camp at Govt. women ITI College Gandoh, Doda w.e.f 24-06-2014 to 28-06-2014. During the camp, about 29 students participated and were imparted Civil Defence training in fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation by the CD/SDRF experts. Civil Defence wardens/volunteers performed duty with the district Police on the eve of Eid-ul-Fiter at Eid Gah Doda on 29-07-2014.

City Middle School Surankote Poonch on 21-04-2014, at Panchyat Ghar Noona Bandi Poonch on 28-04-2014,at Govt. High School Gursai Sar Mendha on 12-05-2014, at DPL Poonch on 26-05-2014, at Govt. High School Sathra, Mandi on 19-06-2014, at Surankote Poonch on 23-07-2014 and at Panchayat Ghar Kalaban Mendher Poonch on 28-07-2014. During these camps a large number of students/civilians/Police personnel participated and acquainted with Civil Defence and Disaster Management skills.by the CD/SDRF instructors.
    Moreover, Civil Defence Poonch organised five days CD basic training camp at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Surankote w.e.f 10-06-2014 to 14-06-2014. During the camp, 116 students participated and were imparted Civil Defence basic training in first aid, fire fighting and rescue operation by the Civil Defence/ SDRF instructors.
  • CIVIL DEFENCE TOWN AKHNOOR: Civil Defence organised six CD awareness camps in Akhnoor at ward no. 13 Sungal Morh Akhnoor on 24-04-2014, MHS School Akhnoor on 13-05-2014, Little Flower School Akhnoor on 03-06-2014, at Guru Dwara Sant Baba Sunder on 03-06-2014, W.No. 12 Bazighar Basti, Akhnoor on 10-07-2014 and at Shanti Colony Akhnoor on 23-07-2014 under the supervision of Smt.Tajinder Kour,Dy.SP Dy.Controller CD Jammu. During these camps, a large number of students/civilians participated and were made aware about earthquake, fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation by Civil Defence/SDRF experts. Smt.Kuldeep Kour, Dy.Divisional Warden Akhnoor highlighted the Civil Defence activities on the occasions.
  • CIVIL DEFENCE TOWN SUNDERBANI: Civil Defence organised three awareness camps in Sunderbani at Govt. Lower High School Dhok Banyard on 28-04-2014, at Govt. High School Massiot Sunderbani on 22-05-2014 and at Govt. High School Thok, Kangri, Sunderbani on 03-06-2014. Sunderbani. During these camps, a large number of students/staff members participated and were acquainted with Civil Defence skills like fire fighting, first aid and rescue operation by the Civil Defence/SDRF instructors.
  • CIVIL DEFENCE RAJOURI: Civil Defence organised three awareness camps in district Rajouri at Elite Public Hr. Sec. School Saaj Thanamandi Rajouri on 30-04-2014, at Govt. Higher Secondary School Kotranka on 26-06-2014 and at Iqra High School Barote Rajouri on 16-05-2014. During these camps a large number of students/staff members participated and were acquainted with Civil Defence and its importance during disaster. Demonstrations on rescue operation were also conducted on the occasions by the CD/SDRF experts.
  • CIVIL DEFENCE KISHTWAR: Civil Defence conducted three basic training camps in Kishtwar at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Palmar w.e.f 16-06-2014 to 20-06-2014, at Islamia Faridia Higher Secondary School Kishtwar w.e.f 23-06-2014 to 27-06-2014 and at Govt. Higher Secondary School Sarthal, Kishtwar w.e.f 1-07-2014 to 05-07-2014. During these camps, about 200 students/staff members participated and were imparted Civil Defence basic training in fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation. Demonstrations on rescue operation were also conducted on the occasions by the CD/SDRF experts. Moreover, on 28-05-2014, Civil Defence/SDRF team launched rescue operation and saved life & property to damage when a major fire broke out in a house at Kishtwar.
  • CIVIL DEFENCE LEH: Civil Defence Leh organised one day CD awareness camp at Govt. Higher Secondary School Leh on 23-06-2014. During the camp, about 300 students participated and were made aware about Civil Defence skills like fire-fighting, first aid and rescue operation by the experts. Civil Defence demonstrations on rescue operations were also conducted on the occasion. Moreover, Civil Defence Leh also conducted CD awareness camp at Kalachakra Yara Leh w.e.f. 03-07-2014 to 14-07-2014. During the camp, a large number of civilians participated and were acquainted with Civil Defence and rescue equipments used during disaster.
