Amarnath Yatra is one of the toughest pilgrimages in the world. Amarnath Yatra takes around 3 to 5 days to complete, and devotees will have to walk for hours on a mountain.

The Amarnath shrine board, with the help of the Indian administration, tries everything to ensure the safety of devotees during the Yatra. Every year, the government is trying to make the Yatra more safe and secure for the devotees.

That means every devotee will have to follow a long list of dos and don’ts during the Yatra to ensure their safety along with the safety of fellow pilgrims.

What to do on your Amarnath Yatra 2023?

There are several things you should keep in mind during your Amarnath Yatra 2023. The list of dos and don’ts is for your own safety during the trip.

Be in the Mandatory Age Group

Amarnath Yatra 2023 is open to everyone above the age of 15 and below the age of 75. The Amarnath shrine board does not allow anyone outside that age group to go on the trip.

You will have to present your Aadhar card along with other identity proofs to join the Amarnath Yatra 2023. Make sure you fall in the above-even age group.

Be in Good Physical Health.

Every devotee should make sure they are in good physical health as Amarnath Yatra is not easy to complete. Everyone will have to walk for at least 4 to 5 kilometers every day which is equivalent to jogging for at least 30 minutes daily.

You may start exercising at least one or two months before your trip. A daily exercise routine will help you have good strength during your trip.

We wear Comfortable Clothing.

The Amarnath shrine board suggests everyone wear comfortable clothing, which will help you complete your Yatra without any interruptions or discomfort.

Women are suggested to wear a salwar kameez or tracksuit during the trip, as a saree is not comfortable during high-altitude tracking.

You should also make sure you are wearing sports or trekking shoes, as chappal or slippers are not recommended during the Yatra.

Carry Waterproof Luggage

All travelers are suggested to carry voter-proof luggage during their Yatra. Unexpected rain may pour and wet all Items in your luggage.

The Amarnath shrine board also recommends everyone carry enough woolen clothing during the Yatra. The temperature may fall below 5 degree Celsius which is not bearable with regular clothing.

Only Carry Snacks and Medicine.

There will be several free Langers on your Route. You should not carry any heavy food items from your house. The board highly recommends everyone Carry essential medicine, snacks, and fluids, which will help them stay hydrated. 

Stay with Your Group.

The Amarnath board shrine administration at the time of Yatra will form a group of different pilgrims. The board recommends everyone stay with their group all the time to ensure their own safety along with the safety of their group.

The Amarnath Yatra is one of the toughest pilgrimages in the world, and everyone should keep information about their group. You should try to carry the personal information of as many group members as possible so that you can gather even if you get separated during your Trek.

Always Follow the Instructions.

Other than the above-given list of rules and instructions, the Amarnath shrine board recommends everyone takes a look at the essential rules and regulations before they start their journey.

• If possible, you may also carry a first aid kit for emergency situations.
• Every devotee will have to carry a unique RFID card Which will carry all your information.

The administration will brief you about the situation and all the major rules and regulations for the safe Amarnath Yatra. Kindly follow all those instructions very carefully for your own safety and a happy journey.

Thing’s to Keep in Mind During Amarnath Yatra.

The Amarnath Yatra is not an easy pilgrimage. It is a difficult and dangerous Yatra. The Amarnath shrine board has a long list of dos and don’ts for all the pilgrims.

• First of all, you should make sure you are following all the warning signs and instructions. You should not stop at any place where warning signs are marked for your own safety.
• Kindly do not take any shortcuts. There are going to be some places where you believe it is a shortcut, but that might put you in a dangerous situation.
• Kindly do not cause any pollution during your journey. Plastic is completely banned in the state and punishable under the law. Make sure you have maintained the sanctity of the area. 
• Kindly do not consume alcohol or non-veg food. The security personnel and shrine board administration might take strict action against you for consuming alcohol or non-veg food.

You don’t have to worry about your food or accommodation during Amarnath Yatra. There will be hundreds of camps and free food stalls.

The Amarnath shrine board recommends everyone get themselves registered with the board. Every yatri with a valid Yatra permit is eligible for insurance of up to 3,00,000.

Your prepaid SIM Is not going to work during your Amarnath Yatra. Bsnl will give you a preloaded Yatra SIM, which is going to cost around ₹230. As always, you will have to present a valid ID and a photograph to register your SIM.

Make sure you are carrying your RFID and other important documents throughout your whole journey. There will be several checkpoints, and they might check your ID at every point.
